Watching the game again (quality HD torrent in ), and feck me I have to say we played some lovely attacking football in that first-half and second-half up until the red card. Vucinic and Menez started very sluggishly, it has to be said, but both soon got their shit together and some of the link up play was top-class. When we play like that we can be one of the best attacking sides in Europe, I think (even with Ranieri as mister). Vucinic was in spectacular form and the Inter defence just couldn't handle him, and when he plays like that he is unstoppable. We certainly had the better of the first-half and should have went into the break in the lead, and it was a great shame to concede that sloppy second goal.

On that goal, it has to be said Riise was left horribly exposed at times due to the system we were playing, and in the build up to the goal he had two players attacking his side, but he still has to take a lot of responsibility for not closing down Eto enough and throughout he looked nervous and unsure of himself. Simplicio had a good game but can't offer the kind of cover or pace that Perrotta can and you have to question why Perrotta wasn't moved over to the left-hand side of the central midfield to help Riise.

The 4-3-3 (positions above) – which is a fairly rough way of labeling it as Vucinic and Menez had licence to roam all over the place – which we seen last night is one I quite liked and I think one which could be our best bet going forward. Vucinic and Menez are simply electric in this sort of set-up and feed off Borriello to great effect, and it allows our full-backs great freedom to get forward. If there is one position which requires upgrading it is at full-back and we could be lethal with some better quality in there (to dream even further, acquire one quality attacking-midfielder like Pastore to play as trequatista in place of a midfielder and I think we'd be a complete side). However, the problem of a 4-3-3 like this is where Totti can fit in when he's available, and really he can only play up top which is a problem, so it leads to a change of shape with two up top and different tactics. All this chopping and changing can't be good for building consistency, and with Ranieri's fondness for tinkering he faces some tough choices to try and settle on a system which works.

I thought we played a 4-3-1-2 and not a 4-3-3. I noticed Menez played mainly through the middle, but did manage to drift wide on a few occasions. Also, agreed on the fullbacks. I've been saying that we need to sign a quality RB for a few years now. And as much as I didn't like him, Cicinho would have been a decent fit in the 4-3-1-2.

Vucinic and Boriello are great strikers but I would Eto over any striker in the world. The guy is just too good.
