Totti is suspended for the Coppa game midweek (presumably for that stylish kick on Ballsoftelly), which I imagine is behind the expectation that he'll be starting on the weekend and Borriello may get to give his shoulder a rest.

We shall see, of course - I'm just saying that the reports I've been reading this week have been suggesting we'll see both DDR and Totti from the beginning against Cesena.

There must be a chance Pizza will be on the bench against Cesena, I think, Chewna. He trained yesterday and I imagine there's hope he'll play some part in the Coppa game next week.

You boys are talking wallop about Totti, he's not going to go anywhere. So Totti and De Rossi are both against Cesena, with Borrielli being rested upfront. A pity Greco won't start again (if it is Perrotta and Simplici alongside DDR, as suggested), it would be good for him to get a run of games and he's impressed lately. I wouldn't say Pizza would be fit enough to be involved.

Greco's played at the bottom of the midfield diamond in the last two games, thredzo, which, I'm sure, is where DDR will line up. Ranieri seems to have decided that that's the position in which he's most comfortable in the midfield - less box-to-box and harrying and more regista and sitting and making things tick.

Yeh I know, which is why I hope Ranieri is not rushing DDR back if he's not quite ready at the expense of Leandro, who was doing well there. DDR is probably better playing in that position at the moment. As a more advanced box-to-box midfielder he's been asked to do a lot more and a bit of everything in that role and it probably hasn't helped his own game a whole lot. As regista in front of the back four he looks a lot more comfortable and could get back to his best. At least until Pizza is back, that is.

They are all out on loan/co-ownership at the moment. In addition to those in the U21 side we also have Malomo, Bertolacci, Florenzi, Pettinari and Scardina in the U20 side: http://www.figc.it/it/204/26936/2011/01/News.shtml

Sini is also in the U19 set up and is meant to be very promising. There's also a 17-year-old named Valerio Verre (attacking midfielder) who is meant to be the next big thing (and who has also rejected from ManPoo). We've lots of good youngsters coming through, but the important thing is how we look after them in the coming years. Hopefully we'll see most of them integrated in to our first team squad in time.

Do Roma have any plans to buy some players in this window, given that they must have knocked a decent chunk off their wage bill with the players they have shipped out?

I think the plan was to bring in another RB (Behrami). It seems as though Unicredit have blocked the move, and I don't think there are any more plans to bring in another player.

We wanted to trim the squad down anyway and so got rid of deadwood like Baptista and Cicinho. As a result of Cici leaving Rosi will more than likely stay with us now as cover down the right. Ranieri has made it clear he would like another right-sided player like Behrami or Sculli but like Tuna said Unicredit blocked any moves this mercato, which ain't really all that bad of a thing. I don't think Behrami would of been a a great move for us anyway, and West Ham wanted too much dough for him. As a result Ranieri decided that Stefano Pettinari – who was on loan with Siena but not getting much playing time there and so was recalled at the start of January – would be remaining with us for the rest of the season as back-up (he is an attacking right-winger I believe).
