Chiellini out for a month?

There are fears Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini could be out for a month after a suspected thigh strain.

The Italian international pulled up during the final stages of last night’s 2-1 victory away to Fiorentina.

Juve had completed their substitutions, so he had to limp on in a more advanced role that did not require him to run.

There are fears Chiellini suffered a thigh strain, an injury that would keep him out for a month.

The defender also played 90 minutes in Italy’s 0-0 friendly with Cameroon on Wednesday, but Alberto Zaccheroni did not complain.

“I understand Marcello Lippi’s intentions, as it was his final test before naming the World Cup squad and Giorgio is one of the youngest. We have no issue with that.â€

15 days out for Amauri



Juventus will be without Amauri for up to 15 days, while Vincenzo Iaquinta also left the Dall’Ara with an injury.

The Brazilian-born striker was replaced during the 0-0 draw at Bologna on Sunday after picking up an ankle problem.

Tests have today ruled out any tendon tears, but the club have noted that the Italian international will be sidelined for between 10 and 15 days.

The club have also revealed a problem for Iaquinta, who missed a penalty yesterday. The striker has complained of a pain in his right knee.

It’s unclear how serious Iaquinta’s problem is and his condition will be assessed again by club doctors on Tuesday.

Juventus will face Milan at the weekend and could also be without Milos Krasic who is facing a simulation trial after he ‘won’ the penalty at Bologna.

Amauri suffers knee injury



Juventus striker Amauri has suffered a knee injury, which could keep him out of Sunday's game against Genoa.

The Italy international of Brazilian descent complained that his knee was bothering him in training this morning.

He went off for a scan and is awaiting the results, but Juventus expect he'll be a doubt for their trip to Marassi.

Juventus' injury crisis really shows no sign of letting up and it appears they will be forced to buy once the transfer window opens again.

Beppe Marotta is already compiling a shortlist of reinforcements up front, as Amauri has yet to score in Serie A this season.

So is Amauri's injury good or bad news? On one hand, it's now very likely we'll buy/loan a new striker in January, somethin we desperately need. On the other hand, it's going to be even more difficult to sell Amauri.

Juve anxious about Aquilani



Juventus are sweating over the fitness of Alberto Aquilani after he pulled up with an injury against Genoa on Sunday.

The Italy international midfielder asked to be substituted after feeling a pain in his thigh.

“I preferred not to risk it,” Aquilani said. “I felt a pain in the quadriceps.

“Seeing that Gigi Del Neri only had one change left, I tried to limit the damage.

“I hope it was only cramp.

“Tests will be carried out on Tuesday to ascertain the problem.”

Buffon on road to Vinovo



Gianluigi Buffon will resume training at Juventus’ Vinovo base on Tuesday for the first time in four months.

Buffon hasn’t played for the Old Lady since picking up an injury in Italy’s opening World Cup game against Paraguay in South Africa.

The club have this evening confirmed that Buffon, whose recent absence away from the squad has caused some uncertainty over his future, will continue his recovery in the presence of teammates.

Although Buffon will still be a firm fixture at the Isokinetic Centre for his physiotherapy sessions, he will now start work on a personalised fitness programme with ‘keeper Coach Claudio Filippi.

Buffon, who has been replaced in the Juve goal by Marco Storari, is set to return to first team action in January if all goes well.

Toni knee sprain rocks Juventus



Luca Toni could be out for several weeks, as Juventus confirmed he has sprained his right knee.
The striker only joined from Genoa last Friday and made his debut in the 3-0 defeat to Napoli.

He limped off just 15 minutes into tonight’s 2-0 Coppa Italia victory over Catania at the Stadio Olimpico.

The official Juventus website has confirmed Toni “sprained the medial section of his right knee.

“Tomorrow he will undergo further tests.”

Even if it is just a sprain, Toni is effectively out of this weekend’s Serie A match with Bari.

If the knee ligaments are affected by the injury, then he could be out for several weeks.

It is a further blow to the Bianconeri, who are without Fabio Quagliarella until the end of the season.

Amauri hopes to be back in time for Sunday’s match after breaking his nose against Napoli.

So, are Amauri and Iaquinta still hurt?? Do you think Marotta will be smart enough to call back Giovinco over the summer?? Despite scoring 2 goals, the little guy isn't having a stellar season. I can see this being a Maresca or Miccoli situation all over again.

Giovinco isn't a goal scorer though. He is an AM who makes plays. Giovinco isn't the solution for Juventus, but he could help us right now.

Yes, but Giovinco is apparently too small for Juventus. Good thing the powers-that-be at Marseille and Bayern didn't think that way about Ribery. Good thing Atletico brass doesn't think that way about Aguero.
