There's YOUR Juve folks. I'm with TK on this one. What has this Juve done to merit the respect of fans?? They lay eggs in clutch games and can't beat mid/lower table teams. This team has no game-breakers or anyone even up to the task of playing. There's no playing for Juve from these players. They go out, earn their checks and not care. They play without pride and passion for the shirt. This team isn't even worth watching. Even when Roma were horrible I was able to watch some of their games. They have no direction. I'm telling you guys, there's a power above the management that has control over this club. 5 years?? Really?? I'm thinking 10-15 with several coach changes. DelNeri won't be with Juve in the next 2 years. In fact, he's lucky if he doesn't get sacked this season.

It's two bad results in the space of 3 days. Before that, we hadn't lost since the Palermo game. I don't think anyone here expected us to win the scudetto. We're going through a bad period, missing a few key players. The goal is a top 4 finish for this year.

Exactly, Ricky. Given that Rube's resources aren't limited (in the way Chievo's and Samp's were, say), Del Neri has to be given his share of responsibility for participating in the assembling of a limited squad. He has always - so far as I've seen - played a terribly rigid 4-4-2 which is about old-school English centreforwards, width, and crosses into the box. There's never been much room for creative, technical central midfield players or trequartisti of any sort in his line-ups. The contortions he had to go through to get Totti, Cassano, and Montella together on the pitch for us proved this, to my mind, beyond any shadow of a doubt. The players he's moved on and who've been brought in under his watch are just of a piece with the same principles.

Not quite, bagg, though there are comparisons, certainly. One of the key differences, to my mind, is that Capello tended to want his strikers to have rather more technical ability than Delneri requires of his. Crapello also often played with a kind of split, with a more creative, slightly deeper forward accompanied by a torre. Delneri's often had two torri. Delneri also (Doni would be the conspicuous exception to this at Atalanta) has tended to have true wide players, whereas Capello almost invariably had one of his wide players as an out-to-in kind of player (Nedved for instance, even someone like Lima who was horrendous in lots of ways, was a central player playing down the wing. And this also, in turn, has implications for the way the fullbacks play.

Maro Didn't Del Neri play Cassano regularly in his time at Samp? He certainly doesnt fit that bill though I agree Del Neri is that kind of manager. Also Del Neri is used to coach small to medium level clubs and all his teams peak early in the season, have a slump in form in january-february and then peak again in the final 2-3 months. Seems to me like this is a normal Del Neri year.

Yeah, that's true, Lomba; I think my argument probably still stands once you look at the way he asked Cassano to play that role at Samp - and, for instance, of the kinds of link-up play he was and wasn't involved in, but some might claim that that's special pleading.

Quagliarella's a good player - you just need to get a few more of the right pieces alongside him. A quality holding midfielder, a true, quality prima punta, and two good fullbacks and you'd have the makings of a good side (if not of a good squad). Quagliarella, Pepe, Aquilani, Krasic, Chiellini, and Bonnucci can all hold their own with the right accompaniments. Players like Pepe and your CBs have their limitations, sure, but they can be accommodated in a properly organised system. Had you managed to pick up Burdisso and Borriello over the summer you'd be closer.

I suppose though that some people do underestimate the difficulties one finds in the transfer market. Sure everyone knows how to go for the big stars. I've read about Forlan & Suarez for example. Sure even a dummy would know that those 2 are by far better than any other striker currently at Juventus, but does anyone really know their price tag? Their wage expectations? Their will to play and commit themselves for Juve? More importantly, did Juve have the cash flow to lure in these players? As clubs like Atl. Madrid or Ajax would only accept cash (in one single installment) for their most prized assets. Last I checked, Juve only bought on yearly installments this summer so I understand that it would have been difficult for them to spend differently.

I don't know if I quite buy that, Lomba. A club either has a considerable sum of money for transfers or it doesn't. Juventus may have done some deals last summer which they still have to pay for – Quagliarella, Aquilani, Martinez etc. – but they still have committed serious cash already on players like Krasic and Bonnuci, and the bottom line is that they spent well over €50m for this season. Roma spent €8m this season – on Burdisso – and he was a purchase from the previous season who's fee was covered by players sold. Juventus may not be able to compete with the likes of Man Citeh and drop €32m like that to get Dzeko, but they would not be far off it either, I don't think, and so I think you have the question a lot of their transfer activity and their the ability of their manager considering how they are doing. I mean like, jasus, just look at the forwards at the club, its enough to make you puke (even more).

Troppo dentro classe, niente fuori classe. Hang that banner up at the next game. Look, I don't expect miracles here. I'm not going the route with you ass clowns who waste 4 hours of their Sunday watching this pathetic team play. I understand it takes time and the rebuilding process is long and tedious. Moggi, as great as he was, didn't necessarily get great players at great prices. He had a good eye for getting good supporting players but he did spend a pretty penny, just not all in 1 transfer window. Juve needed a goalie, he went out and got Buffon for 25 mil+. Thuram also left for 20+mil. Nedved who replaced The Bald Algerian, another phenomenal fee. Nedved, Thuram, Buffon= 75 mil+ all in one year. Moggi spent a phenomenal amount of money over his tenure to get guys like Viera and Emerson. How different does that look?? Viera, Emerson, Ibra, The Waterboy, Trezeguet, Cannavaro, Zambrotta(also an expensive transfer) Camoranesi....yea, I would wake up to watch those beasts play at 4am if I had to. Had they kept Boumsong, I would've considered it. The point I'm trying to make here is that money needs to be spent to put a great product on the field and get players in their prime or close to it. All those players I mentioned before, didn't even peak despite high transfer fees. Monster gamble on Moggi's part that paid off. As I've said before, I think Juve are cash-strapped at the moment and don't want to take a chance with players. I'll give them the Krasic transfer but that poor kid is surrounded by garbage. Set some money aside, about 75 mil, go out and get the best damn coach, the best damn defenders and the best damn midfielders out there. You don't need to spend 75 mil per transfer period. Spend about 25-30 on two star players. Moggi was smart with guys like Trez and Camoranesi. You need those types of young, cheap players who can develop into stars and profits. This current team has no hope. 9 points away from first with less points than last season. Poor Ciro, he didn't deserve that. You can say this Juve is playing for 4th but when it comes crunch time and the 3rd/4th place teams drop points, don't expect this Juve to come up and win. Krasic can't do it all and it will come time when he gets marked out of a game and Juve are lost. There's no magic on this team other than that kid.
