Cassano's a much more effective footballer these days than Ronnie - there's a much greater upside to balance his erraticness off the pitch. He suits what you already have up front too. I hope he fucks it up and his arrival is simply the prelude to Pato's departure but Cassano-Ibra-Pato's quite a sweet front three.

it does look like pato will leave since it seems that allegri and galliani are favouring robinho, which sucks, as i think pato is the better player.

i think cassano will be a success this season, maybe even most of the next, but he will blow up afterwards so it's a very short-term move.

Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has revealed Alessandro Nesta will miss Thursday's trip to Cagliari after suffering an injury in training.

Nesta joins the likes of Gianluca Zambrotta, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Andrea Pirlo and Mathieu Flamini in the MilanLab treatment room.

“He has been taken injured and I believe that it will be difficult for him to play tomorrow,” Allegri said.

“We will evaluate his condition tomorrow.”

Allegri then turned his attention to Milan's new signing Antonio Cassano.

“It's the last chance of Cassano's career and he cannot fail.

“Right now it's the desire that counts and he is showing us that he has it.

“He has a 70 per cent chance of starting on the bench, but there is still a 30 per cent chance he'll start from the beginning.”

Asked about the Ronaldinho's apparently imminent exit, Allegri replied: “It makes me and all the Italian football fans sorry.

“Losing a player of such quality is always bad, but it's his decision.”

Finally, Allegri gave his reaction to Silvio Berlusconi's comments that a winning Milan is good for Italy.

“Compliments always make me happy. We always need to keep our ears open with Silvio because there is always something to learn.

“For now we are at the top of the table and I believe it's very important. I am sorry above all for our slip ups against Roma and Juve.”

especially given the team we brought to sardegna, the 1-0 win was a fantastic result. we had bonera, antonini and abate in defense; merkel in midfield; and a bench of reserves and youth team players. we didn't play an attractive brand of football out there, but we got the job done and that is a reassuring thing as it shows that we have what it takes to become champions.

it was a tough victory, but the play leading up to the goal absolutely brilliant.

the only thing i worry about is abbiati, he's made quite a few mistakes this season, and today's error nearly cost us the game, allegri needs to rethink his position especially when we have damn good backup in amelia riding the pine.

and its funny how strasser has been the team gimp for most of the season, getting kicked by ibra, being made fun of by ronaldinho, and now he scores a match winner and the entire team and most of the bench runs out to celebrate with him. one thing that isn't lacking is team spirit, and strasser's goal has solidified it even more.

'Ronaldinho decision within 24 hours'

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani reveals “Gremio have closed the gap” in the race for Ronaldinho and “a decision should be made within 24 hours.” The player has been in Brazil for over a week now to oversee negotiations over his future, but there is a battle between Gremio and Flamengo for his signature.

“I am following the Ronaldinho issue like the oscillation of the stock market,” Galliani told Sky Sport Italia. “On Friday morning, Gremio closed the gap on Flamengo, but I don’t feel ready to call it one way or another. I hope a decision will be made within the next 24 hours.

“Our rapport with the player has always been affectionate and lasted for two and a half years. Ronaldinho asked for a return to Brazil to prepare for the 2014 World Cup and we made him happy. We salute him with great affection and respect. As for the rest of the strike force, I don’t think there will be any other transfers. We’ll see if there are some bargains in January.”

Antonio Cassano has joined as a replacement for Dinho, though so far there is nobody to step in for Pippo Inzaghi following his season-ending knee injury. Gianluca Zambrotta will be out for a month after undergoing keyhole surgery on the meniscus ligament in his left knee. Alessandro Nesta should return for Sunday’s clash with Udinese, but Christian Abbiati looks set to miss out after a slight calf strain, handing the gloves to Marco Amelia.

So 'Dinho looks all set to leave. Will he be released or will Milan actually sell him for a few quid? And do you think Milan will sign any more players in the January mercato? Surely you could do with a new left-back, especially considering Zambrotta's recent injury?
