I think Santon has the quality, probably he needs to be sent out on loan to get some experience under his belt. Mariga may not be first team material but I think he is good enough to be in the Inter squad. I mean he may not be a Cambiasso but he can definitely be a Muntari and a better player at it than Muntari is.
I am not sure how much potential Leonardo has when it comes to coaching but with Benitez gone we should ideally bring in a young coach and start off a project with him rather than bringing in a Capello or Hiddink and trying to win immediately forgetting about the future.
Why we would want a coach like leonardo ? he is and been a bilanista all is life .i would prefear ZEGNA hundred times even if not that good ,at list is an interista true and true MARIGA and santon ? they just need time ,meaning playng time ,Mariga was trown in and expecting a lot of him to soon ,give time and he be awesome, santon was good at the moment dont play and is confidence is zero only have to look at bonucci ,after play for a bit was sold for 15 million for as not even good as a reserve this players have to develop ,let them play or loan the bastards
MI, I think getting an experienced coach initially was the right decision as we had two super cups to play in and most importantly the CWC (Moratti's dream). If they thought Rafa would rebuild the squad when they got him then they were totally wrong. They should have known that from his Liverfekkin'wankscum past.
However, now that the CWC has been won there is no time better than the present to bring in a young coach with fresh ideas and starting rebuilding.
So Rafa is gone huh. I've never like him as a manager personally (for obvious enough reasons, I should think), but thats not to say I don't think he is a good manager, and I don't think he was really ever given a fair shot at the Inter job. A lot of people are saying he inherited the squad of the European and Italian champions and so really had no excuses not to do well, but I think that is grossly unfair. A lot of your players aren't the same as they were last season for a variety of reasons, be it fitness, missing their love master Mourinho, lack of motivation, tired after the WC, finding it hard to replicate form etc., and so I think its fair to say some new players should of been brought in at the start of the season. Of course, Benitez was never going to follow in the footsteps of Mourinho, and that was probably his ultimate downfall. He wasn't helped by all the injuries that Inter have had, and in the end I just don't think he was given enough time.
And Leonardo as your new manager? Really? I wouldn't be too enthusiastic about that, and I'd also be surprised if it were to happen given his long-standing association with Milan.
James Horncastle reveals why people shouldn't really be surprised if Leonardo decides to join Inter despite his past with Milan
Zvonimir Boban picked up the newspapers yesterday morning and could barely believe his eyes. The headlines in each of Italy's sports dailies were once again linking his former teammate Leonardo with the bench at Inter only this time with an air of inevitability.
“I cannot imagine it,” Boban said. “He worked at Milan for 13 years. He is a pure Milanista. It would be a very strange decision to move to Inter, but Leo is a professional and Moratti knows it. When Inter calls, it's difficult to say 'no' but in his place I wouldn't do it.”
It's perhaps a little surprising to hear Boban caution against an act that would perhaps raise tensions in the Lombard capital, although in truth it bears little comparison with his kicking of a policeman during a match between Dynamo Zagreb and Red Star Belgrade in 1990, which is often cited as the beginning of the Balkans conflict.
What's even more remarkable, however, is his underestimation of Leonardo as something of an independent thinker. After all, the pair formed arguably the most intelligent midfield partnership in recent memory, one that certainly wasn't afraid to ask questions in the four years it held sway at San Siro.
Just as Boban “grew up” on Chekhov and Dostoevsky, admitting that Italy would beat Croatia in a literary contest hands down what with Dante, Petrach and Leopardi, his Brazilian friend was equally open-minded.
When Leonardo moved to Europe in 1991, joining Valencia from Flamengo, he lived in a condominium with over 40 people. Instead of following the example set by many of his peers, the new arrival didn't closet himself off in his apartment, nor was he aloof. Leonardo would keenly sit outside and listen to their stories. His desire to learn meant he later accepted Zico's call to play in Japan for Kashima Antlers at the expense of other more lucrative offers so he could sample another culture and language.
“Leo is a Dante-esque Ulysses tormented by a hunger for knowledge,” wrote Luigi Garlando in Wednesday's La Gazzetta dello Sport. “He has studied philosophy. He admires Socrates and Plato.”
The 41-year-old is a fervent student of the game, a regular at Coverciano with clear ideas about how football should be played. Although initially reluctant to leave his role as a director at Milan, he grew into his new position. Leonardo was never going to be a simple 'Yes Man'. “Berlusconi is like Narcissus, he doesn't like anything that isn't in the mirror,” he quipped.
When put into that context, the prospect of a move to Inter isn't entirely beyond reason. After all, Massimo Moratti has always held Leonardo in high regard. He acknowledged as much this time last year when Milan hit their stride tactically playing in a 4-2-Fantasia formation that was reminiscent of Brazil in the 1980s. “If Milan are optimistic and believe in their own play the credit is that of the Coach,” Moratti said. “I respect Leo a lot. I would have liked him as a director. He would have been an important figure for us.”
Hindsight often loads new meaning on to old quotes, but an interview Leonardo gave in September is intriguing nonetheless. “Milan for me was a lot,” he explained. “But it's over. I want to change skin, to see things as a non-Milanista. And if I were to go to Inter, Galliani would respect my decision.”
Of course, it's open to opinion whether Leonardo referenced the Nerazzurri just to illustrate a point, affirming - if anything - that he merely subscribes to the never say never school of thought. But his esteem for Moratti isn't lacking. “We have known each other for years. Encounters with him are always affectionate,” he said.
And yet the most important question of all is whether Leonardo would actually be suited to Inter and vice-versa? If we take Benitez's demands for three or four new players in the January transfer window as the straw that broke the camel's back, then it's possible to understand just how important Moratti is taking the issue of tightening the purse strings.
Being financial fair-play compliant has become a priority at Inter and Leonardo dovetails neatly with this philosophy having worked at Milan while Galliani implemented a series of austerity measures, such as selling Ricky Kaka and slashing wages. If reports suggesting he is prepared to sign a two-year contract worth €2m a season are proven correct, he also represents a much cheaper option to Luciano Spalletti and Fabio Capello.
As for results on the pitch, Milan may not have won anything last season - in fact they finished third partly due to a very poor start and an unbalanced squad, which was in transition - but he still managed to produce a very exciting brand of attacking football and showed he wasn't afraid to put his stamp on the team. There was courage and personality in his decision to do away with Carlo Ancelotti's familiar Christmas Tree formation in favour of a daring 4-2-1-3 system.
Leonardo also displayed an aptitude for getting the best out of the resources available to him and though he did clash with Rino Gattuso, there was a degree of inspiration in his ability to get Ronaldinho to show glimmers of something faintly resembling his best form. A similar situation would await him at Inter where the squad is thinner and older, and the dressing room a mixture of Europe and South America.
The concerns, however, are twofold. Inter's players are invariably fatigued after last season's treble and therefore it's arguable that they are more susceptible to injury. But most worrying of all are the intangible factors, which may have played a part in blighting Benitez's season so far, such as the team subconsciously lacking motivation, its stomach full on unprecedented success.
La Repubblica quoted a source within the club in October, who had the foresight to say: “There is no longer a lion tamer with the whip and the players have less hunger than a year ago.” If that's what's needed then Leonardo might not be the right man for the job. This, after all, is a man who justified his “hugs and kisses” approach to management by telling reporters: “Gandhi freed India without raising his voice.”
In the meantime, Moratti has some thinking to do. But the stars are undeniably aligning with Leo.
Looks like its Zenga that will replace Rafa (Just got sack from his current club). Relieved that its not Leonardo. I am presuming we will see a lot of passion from Zenga considering his history with us. This could be a project like Pep @ Barca, although Zenga is the same age as Rafa...
So much speculations ,but really no one know what is going to happen now KAKA name is floating aroung ,could Moratti be so dumb ?Kaka is finished why we would even consider him ? Messina tell me if you get on the bergamet and what done for you. in australia they are going to shut on the 18 and 19 on a programm called CURRENT AFFAIR but my be shown early febraury also a program called 4 CORNERS is interested if you like i keep you posted.just been approved in the filippines and Hong kong and CHINA among others
Can't get more official than this. -------------------------------- Welcome Leonardo! Inter's new coach Friday, 24 December 2010 19:40:24 [rss full] [rss text] Delicious [permanent link]permalink [FOTO Friday, 24 December 2010 19:40:24] MILAN - Everyone here at Internazionale F.C. is pleased to welcome Leonardo to the Club. The 41-year-old Brazilian coach will take charge of the European and World Champions as of 29 December, when the Nerazzurri begin training again in Appiano Gentile.
Leonardo signed a contract this evening that will run until 30 June 2012.
The club will make an announcement over the next few days regarding his official presentation.
We wish Leonardo the very best of luck and are sure that with his class, experience and winning mentality the Club and the team can achieve the results that everyone at Inter and all the Inter fans want to see.
I don't understand why we don't give these new managers a 1 season contract. You give this guy a season to prove his worth, if he is no good you don't have to pay a mass amount of $$ to get rid of him. Yep, I guess it is official. Umm.

Sanchez? Inler?
