Dzeko or Benzema are the two other World Class options and will both cost us to empty our bank account. Cassano is FREE. Let me say that again ... (ahem) ... CASSANO IS FREE. His presence will elevate the play of the front line and no matter if it is Quagliarella, Iaquinta, Maxi Lopez, Gilardino or even Benzema or Dzeko (since we might buy them either way).

Cassano, Cassano, Cassano. Now is the time to make this move.

Seems like these players would be affordable and able to provide us with some depth.

Santacroce on Juve wish list



Napoli centre-back Fabiano Santacroce is being monitored by Juventus with a view to a transfer in January, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 24-year-old would be a decent back up for Juventus' first choice pairing of Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini. He also happens to be quite versatile.

In the meantime, Juventus are looking to offload Amauri, possibly even offering the Italy international as a makeweight in talks for Santacroce.

Amauri has been a disappointment since his arrival in Turin two years ago and his wages, which are said to be worth €4m a season are a burden on the club.

If he does leave amid reported interest from England, Juventus will need a replacement, even if it is only in the short term.

La Gazzetta understands that Juventus are looking to capitalise on the interest Momo Sissoko is generating in Germany by maybe offering him in exchange for Miroslav Klose or Claudio Pizarro.

Wow... that is terrible. How the fuck can Marotta and Del Neri just sit there and watch a player who is perfect for our system go to a scudetto contender like that... for FREE.

Looks like Marotta isn't as intelligent as we all thought.

The only thing that would rectify this is a move for a world class striker like Benzema, Dzeko, Suarez, or Aguero. Sorry but a front line of Pazzini/Gilardino and Quagliarella/Iaquinta doesn't seem like a scudetto winner to me.

Great work Juventus on dropping the ball again. Where is Moggi when you need him?

Cassano, if he leaves Samp, won't be moving for free. It was ruled that his contract should not be terminated, so any move to Milan will be a transfer.

Isn't it just 4m to Madrid? May not technically be free, but cmon... that is 1/3rd of the price we paid for Martinez, a 6th of the price we paid for Amauri and a third of the price we paid for Tiago.

Get him. Oh well... looks like we will just be "like Barcelona"... real original. Let's play primavera football in Italy and see how that works.

We need world class players added to our Italian base or it defeats the purpse of having an Italian base.

Its not just the 5 mil to Real, its his transfer fee to Samp + the 5 mil to Real, but even then he's available for a lot cheaper than he would've been otherwise.

Cavani is sweet and one of my favorite strikers on the planet, but I wonder if we would be better off with a guy like Dzeko, Pazzini or Benzema who more less and focus on poaching. I wouldn't be disappointed if we signed him by any means. What do you think about his playing style and how it would work in Del Neri's system?

Cavani-Quagliarella/DP would be better than having, say, Quag-DP, and he's clearly better than Iaquinta. However, any hope of getting him would be in the summer. There is no way Napoli will release him mid-season after the season's he's had so far. I think he'd fit very well in Delneri's 4-4-2 - a hard-working, clinical, mobile striker who'd have plenty of chances with the likes of Krasic, Aquilani and Quags/DP supporting him (ask Iaquinta!).

I dunno Dino, we could have picked him up when we were in serie b, playing half a season there, not to mention that we were (and still are) in a rebuilding period, it could have helped him develop. Back then we had Secco and Blanc so we can't blame the current management for it. Cavani is an Ibra type player, who is better suited than Quags, DP and even Amauri (because he sucks balls) to play as a target man, but its not his natural position. All I'm saying is that if we're not going after Cassano, then our management need to show us that they're going after some other quality player that can add to this team.
And I'm almost certain that Napoli will take up that option on Cavani and buy him in the summer,

I'm not blaming this management but there is something that goes beyond the management that is in place. It is the mentality of....Juve. There is a higher force that is controlling the philosophy/mentality of how this team is being run/built. Yes, there are different people in place, physically the people are different, board members are different, etc but there is a mentality that is the same. This team, psycholoigcall, is no different than it has been in the past 5 years. The management is the same. I can't explain it. You just don't feel a difference in what they're doing in the market and how this team is prepared psycholigically going into and during games. You saw something different when Krasic scored that game winner. There's no "go out and get it done" mentality over the past 5 years, no matter who is in charge. It is the players they are bringing in. I think they need to flush out a lot of these old players, starting with Iaquinta.

Dino, that lack of moxy you are talking about is a lack of winner mentality. You know those kids on your teams growing up that always made the big plays at the right time (ie Polamalu, Brady, Yzerman, Jeter). You can't learn it, you can't develop it, you are just born with it. Talent is one thing to spot, but a guy like Moggi could spot that "it" factor in players. He could bring in players that were winners, that were the guys making those key plays at key times to give their team the win. Guys like Nedved, Buffon, Trezeguet, Camoranesi, Zidan, Davids, Inzaghi, Cannavaro. Guys who rose to the occasion when the game was on the line. Who had the desperation to lay out to break up that ball as its heading high to the far post, to wrestle their mark in the box to make sure they cannot score that final goal, to have the vision to see the pass open up when there is no where to go.

It sounds simple, but we just don't have guys who have that. Aquilani, Melo, Krasic, Bonucci, Amauri, Pepe, De Ceglie, Motta, etc. These guys have their abilities, some more than others, and play to their strengths. Krasic is a beast on the right side of the field and has his good and bad moments, but I dont trust him out there to come through when we need. I do see an x-factor in Quagliarella, always did. He and Iaquinta are good squad guys to come off the bench and play their roles. Marchisio showed a bit of an x-factor in the early part of last year scoring late goals, most notably against Inter. Chiellini has it and Grosso HAD it.

Passing on guys in the past (at the Serie B level) like Mascherano, Hamsik, Cavani, Cassano, Balzaretti, and GIovinco. Letting players like this that I think have that IT factor just go by the wayside and pass on them for the likes of Tiago, Almiron, Andrade, Sissoko, Amauri, Diego, Melo, and Mellberg. What were we thinking? Even this transfer period... guys like Pepe, Motta, Bonucci, Quagliarella, Martinez... where is that special player?

I will give this management one free pass. They reconstructed our salaries, lessened our overal age and re-established the 4-4-2 system here in Turin. However, after the summer of 2011 all bets are off.

Im telling you guys, we need players that are champions and/or leaders, guys that have that world class/game breaker ability. Guys like Lugano, Cassano, Fabiano, Hamsik, Maggio (how many key goals is he still scoring?), Diarra, Palombo, Balzaretti, Cassani, Cavani. Each of the players I mentioned is a hugely important member of their team. None of the players we signed were that! Not at all!

This team is not ready to play with the big boys. We aren't allowed in the sand box. We can fight hard and give great foes a tough battle, but we can't win titles. We aren't ready. We dropped the ball BIG TIME in our first transfer season after returning to Serie A and we are still paying for those mistakes. Juventus system needed to be re-established. That mission has been accomplished. However, now we need to make moves that take us to the top tier again. Im sorry, I know it is really cute and we can all have fun on our video games playing with 20-23 year old rosters, but that isnt realistic for Italian football.

We need champions in thier prime who are proven. We need to have a keen eye for cheap, young talent. We need to re-establish that magic by selecting players who have a ton of passion for winning, not just "good attitudes".

All that being said, I like the link with Schelotto. Buy him and loan him out.
