They are way off, pirlo picked it up in the second half but ibra made some horrible decisions with the ball. I really don't know who our man of the match was, I thought robinho played really well, so did abate.

No probs. Abate is sort of growing on me. I have made my opinion clear on him in the past as simply not being of good enough quality to be a regular starter for ye lads, but he is improving all the time. His work-rate and attitude can't be faulted, he gets up and down that right wing with some level of energy, but he has always, for me, been very suspect in defending. But even that is something which is improving with him and if he can keep it up he just may be ok for yis. He's no Cici, though.

i think abate has been backed up by the 3 man midfield formation that allegri has employed, compared to leonardo's 4-2-fantasy. he's also being helped by a return to form by rhingio, who has been one of our best and most consistent performers this season. abate still needs some more confidence when going forward, because i know he can put some better crosses in the box. i remember when he was at torino the season before he came back to us, he had the best crossing percentage in the league. but at the same time, they played a 3-5-2 formation or something, and he was more of a wing-back. his speed gives him so many options when going forward, i just hope he evolves into a better fullback.

"Former Milan star Paolo Maldini has launched a scathing critique of why Yoann Gourcuff’s move to Italy failed, citing a poor attitude on the young Frenchman’s part.

Gourcuff moved to the Rossoneri from Stade Rennais in 2006 but lasted only a couple of seasons in Italy before retreating to Girondins de Bordeaux first on loan and then on a permanent basis. Now with Olympique Lyonnais, the 24-year-old is in the midst of a difficult campaign and he will face further questions after Maldini’s assessment of his time in Serie A.

“Gourcuff in Milan was wrong 100 per cent,” he revealed to L’Equipe. “His problem here was his behaviour. He did not show an intelligent way to manage himself. When he played here, he did not want to make himself available to the squad.

“He did not start studying Italian immediately. He did not work. He was not always on time. It happened a lot. [There are] things he cannot tell. But he knows what he did.”

Even on the park, Maldini was not impressed. “When he came into the game, he did not give himself fully,” the former defender stated. “Less talented players have earned the respect of Milan because they gave everything. Him, he did not. And he knows it. After a while he became foreign to the group."

Milan defender Thiago Silva could be back playing within a month after having surgery to a meniscus lesion.

The Brazilian defender suffered the injury in last week's Champions League loss to Ajax and there were fears he would be out for six months, meaning his season would have been over.

However, after having surgery on his knee, Goal.com Italia reports he may well make the clash at Lecce on January 16.

Meanwhile, Adriano Galliani has excluded mega buys in January. Manchester City duo Mario Balotelli and Carlos Tevez have been linked with the San Siro, as has Cagliari hitman Alessandro Matri.

"If there is a chance for a Milan type attacker then we will sign him," he told Il Corriere dello Sport.

"Matri, Balotelli? They are not for sale, and Tevez is important, but Milan cannot make an investment like that."
