Thiago Silva suffers knee injury
Milan have suffered a real blow after it emerged that Thiago Silva has incurred a nasty-looking knee injury.

The Brazil international underwent a series of tests this morning, including an MRI which ultimately revealed that he has torn the meniscus in his right knee.

Milan have since released a statement detailing that Thiago Silva plans to travel to Brazil where he will seek a second opinion from the national team's doctor Jose Luiz Runco.

It is as yet unclear how long he faces on the sidelines, but meniscus injuries tend to take a while to heal.

The only crumb of comfort is that Milan have just two more League games before the winter break.

Thiago Silva is widely considered to be a key component of Milan's defence alongside Alessandro Nesta.

Mathieu Flamini has also been ruled out for three or four weeks after he tore the medial ligaments in his right knee.

We'll have to wait and see...if it's a tear, then it could be pretty bad, but if it's a strain or partial damage then it would be 4-6 weeks from what I gather, in which case it's not too bad we the winter holiday is coming up

Flamini is out till new year, which isnt too bad as we only have 2 games left.

I want us to finish as winter champions, that should be the primary goal right now...then in January we take it from there

i was just thinking though, it was in the proposed contract that players can choose there own doctors and clubs pay for them, if the strike is called off does this mean that the contract terms have been agreed? this could be why Thiago has gone to Brazil either.

Not sure how that point got resolved...anyways, I think this was an agreed move by Milan by the looks of it, if I recall correctly we had similar situations with Ronaldo/Kaka and even Pato (seems a Brasilian thing huh?).... it's funny how even our management realizes the incompetent fucks we have yet do nothing about it

we actually did get a new medical team this year, and we havent had that many injuries either. thiago's injury was a meniscus injury which results from trauma, there's nothing anybody can do about that. lets just hope he comes back fast, we need him.

I'm concerned with Thiago's nagging injuries tbh, nothing chronic it seems, but he just can't seem to string a couple of months without missing a couple of games...Nesta has had his problems last couple of years but I'd put this down to age as he was pretty injury free till then....I just hope I'm wrong about Thiago being injury-prone and, more importantly, that this one is not too serious

yeah i agree, allegri's lineup was bullshit. but i think the reason he played those players was to make sure that the mentality of the team wasn't too lethargic. unfortunately it didn't work, and it resulted in thiago's injury. most reports are saying he'll be out a month, but he will miss an important match against roma, so that will suck.

allegri should've played sokratis from the start, and brought on strasser, merkel and verdi later on. it was a useless game, but allegri's stubbornness was the annoying highlight.

It looks like Thiago will be out for a month or so...pretty fucking awesome considering how bad I was fearing it could be....basically he'll miss the last 2 games of the year and should be good to go after the break...good timing for us too

Anybody noticed the shitty lunchtime kick off time for the Bologna game? Now I know this is a non-issue for you 'tec, but it's pretty fucked up that we have to play at 6:30AM ET...I'll have to get creative as I'm usually out till 3-4AM Saturday nites..last time I had to be up this time for a Milan game was probably when we played Boca Juniors in Tokyo a few years ago

Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has blasted Inter president Massimo Moratti and defender Marco Materazzi for continuing to speak about him in the media.

The Swedish superstar also gave his opinion on Wesley Sneijder's Ballon d'Or snub and believes politics plays too big of a role in determining the winner.

A few days ago the Nerazzurri patron claimed that the Swedish superstar left the team a year too early, missing out on the Champions League triumph. Furthermore, on Thursday, Materazzi suggested that Inter would not have completed last season's historic treble if 'Ibra' was still on the team.

"They talk too much about me," stated the 29-year-old during an interview with Studio Sport XXL.

"It's obvious that I'm still important to them, but for myself they aren't so important."

However, the prolific goalscorer did have praise for Inter's Wesley Sneijder, believing his Ballon d'Or snub was unfair.

"It's sad that he won't win after what he accomplished last season, including at the World Cup, but now that award has only become a political issue and it doesn't interest me to win it anymore. I prefer to win with this team," he continued before turning the emphasis to the Rossoneri.

"I knew from the first day I arrived here, from that atmosphere at this club, that it's a team where I want to end my career and can win big trophies. It's not true that the team is Ibra-dependent, we all depend on each other."
