Yep, I share same feelings regarding Astori however Allegri have coached him for a couple of years, as he did with Matri, so I trust his judgment there and support this move...not sure 12 million is a sound investment for a backup striker, I dont think this figure will be the one shelled out when it's all said and done...I'm hoping we've already lined up our next CB...I know Romanisti here won't like it, but I've heard numerous times Milan are eying Mexes and that the Boriello move has something to do with it, we'll see

Milan, Juventus and a host of other clubs have been told to look beyond Cagliari striker Alessandro Matri as he is not for sale.

Cagliari president Massimo Cellino has made it clear he has no reason to let the 26-year-old former Milan youth leave.

Reports have prefigured a strong interest from Milan, who are looking for a proxy to Filippo Inzaghi, and Juventus, who need a stand-in for Amauri.

"I understand that Matri is liked by many clubs - if that was not the case then he would not be in my team," he told Il Corriere dello Sport.

"I am building a new stadium and players are part of that strategy, what is the point of having a new ground with no players to use it.

"I am thinking about Cagliari. The interest from big clubs is pleasing, but I want to give my players the right chances professionally.

"Matri and the others will continue winning with us."

Benfica defender David Luiz has once more been touted around in the media, with Milan, Chelsea and Manchester City the most likely destinations for the young Brazilian in January, according to reports.

Ilmilanista.it believes the 23-year-old could be persuaded by fellow international centre-back Thiago Silva to join the Rossoneri, having played alongside Silva in the last few games for the Selecao.

However, Chelsea and Manchester City are monitoring the situation after a statement from the Portuguese club.

A source at Benfica has said to British newspaper The Sun: "Going out of the Champions League affected our financial plans. We want to re-evaluate the situation."

Manchester City attempted to persuade Benfica to part with Luiz by offering huge sums of money during the summer and the player was said to be disgruntled about not being allowed to further his career.

Benfica are rumoured to be willing to let both Luiz and Portuguese full-back Fabio Coentrao leave after failing to progress to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League.

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has revealed that the Serie A club were once on the verge of signing Barcelona star Xavi.

The 30-year-old recently was the architect of the Blaugrana's 5-0 el Clasico victory over Real Madrid and was also a key member of Spain's 2010 World Cup winning squad.

"A few years ago we were a millimetre away from signing Xavi, a player I always liked very much," he said during a press conference.

"We had spoken to his father. We were very close but then he decided to extend his stay at Barcelona.

"Barca play beautiful football. I don't know if they can play it for all 12 months. They handle the ball very well and move it with great speed, at this time they are stratospheric, but football has its ups and downs."

Meanwhile, he said the Rossoneri are determined to find out the cause of Alexandre Pato's constant injuries.

"We confirm a trip in mid-December for an important visit to Duke University in North Carolina," he explained.

"Pato came to us in August 2007 and until December 31, 2009 did not experience any major injuries. In 2010 he has missed 152 days for various injuries. We need to understand why. We need Pato."

Jose Mourinho's uncouth ways has caused Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri to pull the trigger as he takes a shot at the Real Madrid coach.

Mourinho often used his tongue to sting the opposition when he was at Inter. His famous rants such as the "Zero Tituli" attack caused friction among Serie A coaches.

The Special One's style represented a new and unknown chapter in Italy, one that has made for some traumatic reading for Allegri who questioned his management skills as he continues to cause controversy at Madrid.

"He sets a bad example and insulted everybody in Italy," Allegri told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "He was here for two years and insulted everybody."

Allegri showed concern for Mourinho's tactics in the Champions League.

The Madrid coach is under scrutiny by UEFA and stands accused of ordering Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos to get sent off against Ajax so Madrid could enjoy a clean disciplinary slate for the last 16.

The coach feels Mourinho is a cheater and used the oldest trick in the book - Sunday league style.

"Would I do that? No. I wouldn’t do what he did to us at San Siro either. With Andrea Pirlo on the ground with his head cracked open, my players put the ball out," he added.

"Real gave it back, but on the throw-in there was already a full-back pressing us. He sets a bad example.
