i thought i'd look into our immediate competition..... i just saw the highlights to the fiorentina - siena game and all i can say is that i am in awe of pazzini right now. he sure is making the fiore management look good on letting toni go and making room for him. I always thought he was pretty good when watching him with the u21 team but the goal and assist (on mutu's goal) he had yesterday were something else! there was even the near miss by mutu that was a nicely set up by pazzini. what incredible ability to both finish and set up brilliantly...and with loads of time still to develop. that back-heel to mutu was a thing of beauty. after that performance, and a rather meager crop of forwards to choose from, pazzini should be knocking on the nt door, if not busting through it completely very soon. just a couple of more performances like that and gilardino can pretty much kiss his azzurri spot goodbye. I think you guys are misunderstanding me. I am advocating a shake up in the lineup right now against teams like Napoli, Livorno, Siena and some of the smaller clubs and the Coppa Italia, not CL or matches against the big teams. I love Max Tonetto and I am not saying that we should throw him under the train but I simply cannot excuse the defensive breakdowns that I saw on Saturday. Personally, I thought Mexes played very well. He seemed to be the only guy who was interested in defending our goal. Maybe Ferrari was serviceable but Cicinho had a hard time. With Max having maybe his worst day in a Roma uniform, and Cicinho not doing much defending, is it any wonder that Napoli put 4 in the net and shredded us on the counter? Clearly, Cassetti added something when he came on. I saw some grit and determination from him that I really liked. Especially coming off an injury.
I like Cicinho very much and I think he is going to be a great player for us in the future. But this is not la liga. You have to play some defense once in a while. I am not sure Spalletti will play Taddei with Cicinho supplanting Panucci. So what we are saying here is that in order to compensate for Cicinho's lack of defensive skill right now, he needs a guy like Taddei to provide cover. Ok, I can accept that for now. But I really think Cicinho should get a shot at RW, just to see what he can do there. In the meantime, he needs to work on his defending. Giuly and Pizarro can use some work in that area also.
Also, I hear a lot of our fans supporting a change in formation. Something like a 4-3-1-2 to decrease our reliance on our midfielders as part of our offensive attack. Maybe that's a subject for another day. We need a win against Sporting. No excuses. We are at home again, and anything less that 3 points is unacceptable.
Fedayn. Glad is correct. It was the name of a 'terrorist' group supporting the liberation of Palestine. The Roma Ultra group just co-opted the name. It was created at the same time as my group BOYS in 1972. They were a bunch of left wingers back then even though they denied it all of the time. Today they are all just fucked in the head.

It's true we are conceding too many goals and that produces anxiety," added Spalletti, who with Alberto Aquilani and Taddei sidelined may be forced to rejig his midfield after a late injury to Simone Perrotta. "It's easy to change when things aren't going well. We could change the lineup and the formation. We could play more physically and put men behind the ball, but we need to confront the problems and not run away from them."
It looks like Perrotta had a late injury and won't be able to play tonight.
