The finish from Robinho may not of been great (although it still went in), but i think you should credit him more for starting the move in his own half and making up the ground to get into the box and in a position to be able to finish the move.
Milan need derby win to prove title credentials www.Reuters.com – Thursday November 11 2010 – By Mark Meadows
* Milan meet Inter after jumping top of Serie A *Inter still riddled with injuries for Sunday clash
MILAN, Nov 11 (Reuters) - AC Milan lock horns with Inter Milan on Sunday (1945 GMT) aiming to prove they are ready to end their rivals' five-year stranglehold on the Serie A title. The departure of coach Jose Mourinho after last term's treble triumph and their lack of purchases in the transfer window led to pundits predicting that Inter's dominance in Italy could end this season.
The view that a changing of the guard may be imminent in Serie A has been reinforced by Inter's shaky start to the campaign under Rafael Benitez as well as a plethora of injuries and illnesses which have assaulted his squad.
Milan went top after Wednesday's 3-1 win over Palermo while Inter are fourth after being held 1-1 at Lecce.
"If we are lacking intensity it's the fault of everyone, those who go on the pitch and those who work off it," Benitez told Sky TV. "Let's not make comparisons with last season, every campaign is different."
In any of the past five seasons, Milan would not have been deemed credible title contenders even with their current squad. They are relying too heavily on former Inter striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and their other new signing Robinho has failed to make much of a positive impact.
Massimilano Allegri's side are also struggling to kill off games when in the lead but Inter's current woes mean Milan still standout as their biggest rivals this term, especially having knocked surprise packages Lazio off top spot.
"We are not title favourites but we are a side worthy of the scudetto," Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani said.
Inter playmaker Wesley Sneijder is set to return for one of world soccer's most watched derbies after missing the Lecce game having fainted with anaemia at halftime of last weekend's 1-1 draw with Brescia. But Inter's treatment room remains packed unlike Milan's.
Midfield enforcer Gennaro Gattuso, having his best season in years, is also available again for Milan after suspension and will relish the screaming 80,000 capacity crowd at the San Siro.
Robinho has been horrific with his finishing...he provides good movement and width to out build up but he needs to fucking finish off chances that fall his way, and it's not like he's been presented with some tricky chances, most of them are sitters that he ends up blowing badly...him not being able to finish is like Nesta being bad at tackling or Pirlo being unable to complete passes, it's becoming a recurring theme with him and, for Milan's sake, I hope he somehow can shake it off though I doubt it
All that said, he should start the derby...one because we have Pato and Pippo out and two because, right now he gives us more than Dinho...I'm not saying he's the better of the 2, just that, right now, he's doing better...the key is to stick with Flamini-Ambro-Boateng midfield, they were pretty good..stick Pirlo ahead of them behind Zlatan and Robinho...Dinho/Seedorf/Rino will be our subs
seedorf has been playing damn good for the past 2 games. robinho would be the man of the moment if he was knocking in those chances he misses. its gonna fuck us in the ass sooner or later.
Milan Striker Filippo Inzaghi's Season Could Be Over; Alexandre Pato Out Of Derby Against Inter - Report Filippo Inzaghi's injury against Palermo could force him to miss the rest of the season, according to reports... By Salvatore Landolina
Milan got more than they bargained for from their 3-1 win over Palermo as Filippo Inzaghi is at risk of missing the rest of term with a knee ligament injury.
Il Corriere dello Sport claims Inzaghi's injury is worse than initially thought - he appears to have damaged a meniscus with additional ligament lesion.
Although Milan have not officially confirmed the extent and consequence of such an injury, it could be enough to jeapordise his season.
There is also tough news for Alexandre Pato. He will miss the derby against Inter on Sunday, as well as next week's Fiorentina clash. He strained a muscle in his right leg against the Rosanero.
He will also miss Brazil's friendly against Argentina in Doha next week. ---------------------------------
fuck, this will mean that we need a 4th striker. in other unrelated news:
Sampdoria Ace Antonio Cassano To Rescind His Own Contract - Report Antonio Cassano wants to rescind his own deal at Sampdoria rather than wait for the Lega's arbitration panel to make a decision...
Sampdoria ace Antonio Cassano wants to rescind his deal as he shows quick feet to change stance on patching up his relationship with the club, with the feud against Riccardo Garrone turning into warfare.
Sportmediaset.it claims Cassano is furious with the way 'Doria made allegations of insubordination against him following the presentation of their case for rescission of his contract to the Lega.
And in response, he is trying to opt for a consensual agreement to get out of the club as soon as he can and then join a new team in January.
Should that happen, Sampdoria will have to pay Real Madrid €5 million as part of the clause placed in the deal when he left Spain for Liguria in 2007. Worse still, the club would lose €20m of Cassano's value as he would leave on a free.
In any case, the Lega received the legal file from Sampdoria and a decision is expected by December, despite the reported challenge from Cassano.
Meanwhile, Parma have been tipped to land 'Fantantonio' if he does leave on a free transfer. A six-month deal worth €1m is being mooted. ===================
he might be a bitch and a half, but he'll come on a free and he has the quality.
Milan director of sport Ariedo Braida has flown to Brazil to watch Cruzeiro full-back Jonathan, according to reports in the Italian media.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Braida plans to watch Jonathan when he takes to the pitch against Corinthians on Saturday.
The Rossoneri are interested in signing a full-back in the January transfer window however, Jonathan doesn’t have a European passport and this could potentially scupper the deal.
Milan are also said to be interested in Benfica’s Fabio Coentrao, who can play at left-back as well as in left midfield.
Paolo Maldini "Il Sogno di ogni attaccante e' segnare il piu' bella gol della storia. L'incubo e' incontrare il miglior difensore del mondo."
Francesco Totti "Never give up Pippo,You are an example for all of us to never give up."
Wow, I'm disgusted by the news about Pippo...does his deal expire this summer or 2012? If this year, Galliani should give him a 1-year extension, he has to play again for Milan. this is the least we can do for him.
We would need a backup striker in January...it has to be a centre forward/target man, we are more than covered as far support strikers....maybe get somebody on loan till end of season lol
He's nice for this role actually but meh don't think we can get him January...let Roma enjoy him and hopefully buy him off us next summer, we can get something out of him at least
Next summer we should get Paloschi back, he would be perfect...for January, we just have to find a decent back up on the cheap (Galliani's speciality)
paloschi would be a good choice for this winter. but having 2 strikers that are going through growing pains (pato and paloschi) is still a bit much to ask for.
EXCLUSIVE: Milan Likely To Replace Injured Filippo Inzaghi In January & It Could Be Parma Ace Alberto Paloschi Alberto Paloschi could be a candidate to replace Filippo Inzaghi at Milan, Goal.com can exclusively reveal...
Milan won't sit around and let injury turmoil affect them and they will consider moving in the January transfer window to find a replacement for injured Filippo Inzaghi, Goal.com can reveal.
And all eyes are feasting on young and vibrant Parma ace Alberto Paloschi, who is co-owned by the two teams.
The co-ownership will be key in influencing any steps Milan take - with the transfer window offering an opportunity to bring back the young striker early.
Massimiliano Allegri's title challenge depends on having the resources to combat the season, and Inzaghi's long term absence could force him to intervene.
Tulio Tinti, Paloschi's agent, believes Milan will make a move to reinforce their squad, but maintained it was early to discuss their plans.
He feels his client could be a candidate to replace Inzaghi, but it all depends on how Allegri moves to plug the holes up front.
"He is co-owned by Milan, so in a sense he is their player, so anything can happen," Tinti told Goal.com.
"It's too early to say what Milan will do as Inzaghi has only just suffered from injury.
"But, I am certain they [Milan] will make a move, but how they react I don't know.
"We have to understand how the Rossoneri will move, but as things stand, this thing [Paloschi joining Milan] is just speculation, I imagine more than anything else."
"To be honest I think for now it is just media speculation from a number of sources as I have not had any contact with anyone regarding Paloschi joining Milan.
"Plus, Paloschi is still recovering from injury, after this I think he will still be playing for Parma.
"However, from now until the end of the January transfer window anything can happen, but for now it's something which doesn't result with me."
