as a neutral supporter that game was fucking crazy. I can't believe roma gave up 3 leads, and I thought juve's defense was suspect. This messi look-a-like found a lot of holes in your defense. He was everywhere, running non stop just trying to win back balls or create scoring chances. Mexes looked terrible today, he made a bunch of mistakes.

I doubt doni could of done any better in this match, curci didn't really have a chance. The first goal was a rocket to the top corner, sure it was short side but a bunch of goalies would of let that in. The second was shot from 15 yards out, no chance there. I guess he could and should of stopped the 3 goal but give credit to Gargano, it was a screamer. The fourth goal was a perfectly placed header, so no chance there either. Napoli could of easily won this game, de rossi and pizzarro scored pretty weak goals. De rossi's went right under Iezzo, and pizzarro's was deflected by a napoli defender. Plus Lavezzi hit the crossbar in the second half. Could of easily been a much different scoreline today.

I suppose we are in a bit of a meltdown phase right now because we all can see our scudetto chances melting. Six points from 16, five points back of Inter and in danger of dropping further down the table tomorrow because we can't handle a Napoli team at home. Before the game, I said to my 12 year old son, "we should put 4 to 5 by this keeper today. When they scored first I said: "I didn't see that did I?" "Tell me I didn't see that.." When we were up 2-1, I said: "we should take these guys now.." When they drew level, I said: "I did not just see that right now did I?" After every goal I said the same thing and my boy said: "Dad, you keep saying the same thing after every Napoli goal...., you are losing it over there..." I said: "we should ended this thing already." My son said: "I thought it was over at 2-1." Christ!

I am still too digusted to comment on the particulars of this dissappointing match but I have a couple of comments. Once again, we cannot finish off a team when we have the lead. We do not have the mental stability to get the job done. I don't know if it is coaching or just a lack of intensity that puts us into a position where we suffer on the pitch. I have no real explanation beyond that which many of us have commented over the last five weeks.

I have to say that this Roma side has no sense of history. Yes, history. In decades past Napoli and Roma were rivals on the level of Roma and Lazio. That is a fact gentlemen. It seems that this Napoli side knew the history, and played a desperate game with a lot of intensity. The way the Napoli sides of days gone by used to play Roma.

I do not know how to characterize our Roma's performance. Maybe we have too many pampered, multi-millionaire players who are just plain comfortable with being a good and capable side which plays entertaining calcio but one that will not win anything of significance. We faced a hungry, and less pampered side who never surrendered, and played until the last minute. I came away with a profound respect for Napoli while at the same time my estimation of this Roma side is now markedly lower. We just do not have it do we. Whatever it is, I know we don't have it.

I will not blame Curci for those four goals. I will blame him for Garagano's screamer that should have been saved, but the other 3 were solid goals, with text book finishing against a Roma squad that was thinking of Wednesday's CL match instead of the game at hand. It gets no easier men. After Sporting Lisbon we have Milan and then the derby. DDLWD in the last five. We are dropping points consistently now and at the end of this brutal stretch, we may find ourselves in a precarious situation.

I am an historian by nature. The fact that our boys failed to respect the history that has heretofore defined the relationship between Roma and Napoli ended up costing us a victory certainly, but it really ended up costing recognition that this team can actually compete for a meaningful piece of hardware.

Rosella said after the game: "Not the Roma I am used to." Really? What Roma is she used to I want to know. Somebody tell me please. I am running out of time and patience with these pretenders.
