Roma striker Jeremy Menez wants to win the Scudetto and then head off for a future with Manchester United.

The French hitman is ranging along in the capital, but he has big ambitions in his career.

"We want to win the title," he told Ma Chaine Sport.

Menez has often been forgotten in the capital, but he eyes a different portrait for the future.

"Roma is a hard environment in which to establish yourself, and when I was 15 [Sir tender Alex] Ferguson wanted me at Manchester United," he added.

Secondo quanto riportato da Il Messaggero, le due offerte principali pervenute a Banca Rothschild per l'acquisizione della Roma sono entrambe di provenienza estera. La prima è riconducibile a Steve Tisch, proprietario di una delle maggiori squadre di football americano, i New York Giants. La seconda offerta è quella del fondo Aabar, che deteniene il 4,991% di Unicredit. Entrambi spenderebbero circa 150 milioni di euro, la cifra minima imposta dalla Banca di Piazza Cordusio. Verrebbero così esclusi gli altri pretendenti, tra cui l’unico italiano ,Giampaolo Angelucci, un altro americano, un libico e un cinese. A breve potrebbe arrivare anche un'altra proposta da parte di un altro gruppo orientale. Tisch e Aabar sono stati scelti non solo per la concretezza dell'offerta (150 milioni) ma anche per un piano di investimenti che prevede la spesa di circa 100 milioni per rafforzare la Roma.

(Il Romanista-G.Piacentini) Ruota tutto intorno a Menez. Non solo perché il francese è l’interprete migliore per quello che in questo momento è il modulo che migliore per i giallorossi, e cioè il 4-3-1-2, ma anche perché dopo il derby le sue condizioni non sono al top.

Il francese ieri mattina si è allenato regolarmente con i compagni, ma un suo utilizzo è subordinato ad un provino che sosterrà questa mattina a Trigoria. In caso di esito positivo, Jeremy potrà partire titolare e Ranieri potrà concedere un turno di riposo a Marco Borriello, anche in considerazione del ritorno di Francesco Totti, in caso negativo il tecnico di Testaccio dovrà scegliere tra le varie soluzioni a disposizione.

Il dubbio di Ranieri, lo ha confessato lui stesso, è uno solo: turnover o no? «Il mio dubbio - le sue parole - è questo. Battere il ferro finché è caldo o fare turn over». Se la storia insegna qualcosa, prendendo a paragone la scorsa stagione, di dubbi non dovrebbero essercene poi molti. Il tecnico giallorosso infatti ha sempre lasciato poco spazio al turnover, sfruttando al massimo la condizione fisica dei suoi giocatori. Rispetto al derby il brasiliano dovrebbe giocare a sinistra e Simone a destra, anche per fornire da quella parte una maggiore copertura a Cicinho, che sarà il sostituto di Cassetti squalificato. Il brasiliano giocherà per la terza volta in stagione dal primo minuto mentre al centro, complice l’assenza di Juan, saranno confermati Mexes e Nicolas Burdisso, con Riise a sinistra. Se invece Menez non dovesse farcela, al suo posto giocherebbe Borriello per un tridente "pesante" composto dall’ex attaccante del Milan, da Totti e Vucinic.

Il Messaggero – R. Dimito) - La Roma calcio finirà in mani estere. Americane o arabe di Abu Dhabi. Delle sei manifestazioni di interesse pervenute ad Alessandro Daffina, capo di Rothschild, e una settima sarebbe in arrivo, secondo quanto risulta al Messaggero, dopo la prima selezione sarebbe emerso che due sarebbero quelle ritenute più congrue sotto molti punti di vista.
Anche e soprattutto sotto il punto di vista economico. Innanzitutto l’offerta americana: arriva da Steve Tisch, proprietario dei New York Giants, una delle maggiori squadre di football americano. L’altra da Aabar, il fondo sovrano di Abu Dhabi, legato a filo doppio a Unicredit: tramite la controllata del Lussemburgo possiede il 4,991% che ne fa il primo azionista. Tisch e Aabar sarebbero pronti a investire attorno a 150 milioni, che corrisponde alla somma minima richiesta da Unicredit per non accusare una perdita su un’operazione che rientra nella ristrutturazione dei debiti del gruppo Sensi.

È possibile che Rothschild, Unicredit e la famiglia romana decidano di stringere le trattative con questi due pretendenti, escludendo gli altri che entro il 3 novembre si sono fatti avanti: l’unico italiano (Giampaolo Angelucci), un altro pretendente americano, uno libico e uno cinese. Alla Rothschild avrebbe preannunciato l’invio di una proposta anche un altro gruppo orientale: anche se il tempo è scaduto, trattandosi di un’asta, col consenso delle parti, l’offerta potrebbe essere presa in considerazione. Tra qualche giorno, comunque, Unicredit e i Sensi dovrebbero concordare con l’advisor la fase 2 della procedura, cioè le modalità per finalizzare il negoziato, specie se in finale arrivassero i due attualmente in pole position.

Tra l’altro c’è da considerare che la due diligence, cioè i raggi x che si fanno sulle società in fase di vendita, sarebbe ancora in corso e l’esito di questa attività serve per fornire all’acquirente la garanzia che tutto è in ordine. A far pendere la bilancia a favore di queste due offerte non sarebbe solo il prezzo disposto a pagare, ma anche i piani di sviluppo del club giallorosso. Quindi la propensione a investire altri 100 milioni per rafforzare il club. E sia l’americano che l’arabo soldi da spendere ne hanno parecchi. Aabar è riconducibile ai Al Nahyan, una delle sei famiglie regnanti degli Emirati Arabi Uniti, e sono gli sceicchi padroni dello stato arabo che prospera per il petrolio, investimenti immobiliari e diversificazioni finanziarie in giro per il mondo: tanto per avere un’idea oltre alla quota in Unicredit, sempre dalla banca di piazza Cordusio, due anni fa aveva rilevato il 3,13% di Atlantia che nei giorni scorsi ha venduto ai Benetton.

Aabar, controllato dalla International Petroleum Investments, a giugno scorso aveva un patrimonio netto di 2,3 miliardi di euro. Meno conosciuto in Italia è Tisch, personaggio famosissimo nel mondo del football americano. Proprietario della New York Giants, club fortissimo nello sport più seguito oltreoceano, appartiene a una famiglia proprietaria della Loews Corporations, una delle più importanti finanziarie Usa con interessi nelle assicurazioni (Cna), energia, gas (golfo del Messico e del Texas) nel tabacco (Lorillard), orologi (Bulova) e degli hotels (Lowes hotel).

The post above makes it appear as if the club exists in some golden-age of Olympian amateurism.

I would expect Aabar to be very successful owners of Roma, especially within the new regulatory context clubs will find themselves in under the Financial Fair Play rules.

Yes I am serious, Deini. Angelucci is not an ideal new owner and would bring with it a lot of problems, I know, but for me he is a lot more preferable than being owned by oil.

Yes, Aabar are going to spend a lot of money and will no doubt look to develop Roma on and off the pitch. That is a given. But it wouldn't change the fact that we would be owned by Arabs and would be the same as Man Citeh. That does not sit comfortably with me at all and I would hate to be like them and have all the money in the world to buy our way to success. To me that is not what football is about and what is happening at Man Citeh now is distorting the entire financial side of the game and ruining football, and there has to be end of it.

I am not entirely against foreign ownership. I would not be completely against an individual or individuals purchasing Roma with the intention of making it successful as long as the roots and identity of the club is not jeopardised, something which could in no way be guaranteed under Arab ownership where money is not an issue and the fastest road to success would be taken. There would have to be guarantees and conditions in place and a lot of variables on what level of control remains in the hands of those who would be appointed to ruin the club on a daily basis. We could easily have a scenario whereby under Aabar ownership they put in place people who do not care about Roma being Roman and keeping its identity and have completely foreign management, boardroom, structural and managerial personnel and ultimately an influx of expensive foreign talent who would replace what Italian players we have now.

I'm not sure how saying I'd be opposed to such Arab ownership and would prefer any alternative refers to making "the club exist in some golden-age of Olympian amateurism". Perhaps you could expand on that. I would prefer Italian, preferably local, ownership of Roma. I would prefer an Italian manager. I would prefer to see Roma made up of a majority of Italian players rather then expensive mercenaries. I would prefer Roma not to lose its identity and remain what made us all fall in love with this team in the first place: its devoted, often hysterical, pride and passion of being Roman.

Another press release from Italpetroli, saying that the non-binding offers are still being assesed by the company, and then after that the selected parties will then be given the right to access more detailed information on the company in order to submit a formal offer. No date on when that will be is given.

You seem to be suggesting that the club is not big business already, but it is, we only have to look at the salary bill to see that.

The idea a foreign owner will indulge in out-of-control spending is unfounded at the moment and very likely to be incorrect given the new UEFA financial rules governing eligibility for CL/EL. This is why revenue generation will be high on the new owner's agenda because without an increase in it a relatively low glass-ceiling will be placed on Roma's ambitions.

Roma already invests heavily in foreign talent, maybe overly so, maybe not, but - again - it makes good business sense to exploit the club's productive academy as far as possible. We don't need reminding that it was a Roman owner who sold Aquilani, albeit out of necessity rather than choice, but still.

Finally ,as the new financial rules show, the new owners of Roma are not all-powerful, they are subject to the rules of the football authorities and the will of the fan-base. It makes business sense to operate within these parameters, not try to destroy them.

At the risk of repeating myself, I will point out again that the last 2 times Roma got into serious financial trouble, the owners were Roman, Ciarappico in 1993 and Sensi in 2003.
