Report: Juventus Want Ajax Star Luis Suarez

Highly rated attacker Luis Suarez has attracted the interest of Serie A powerhouse Juventus with his outstanding performances for both Uruguay and Ajax in the past couple of months, if a report in Tuttosport is to be believed.

The Europa League hopefuls have been in the market for a new attacker for quite a while now and had initially set their sights on Wolfsburg star Edin Dzeko. However, the Bundesliga side are reluctant to let go of the Bosnia international, thus prompting Juventus to turn their attention elsewhere.

Technical director Giuseppe Marotta supposedly sees the 23-year-old Suarez as the perfect addition to the Vecchia Signora's front line and Juventus could decide to make a move for the Uruguay international in the January transfer window.

Suarez joined Ajax from Groningen in the summer of 2007 and has since developed into the club's absolute star player. The tricky forward has made well over 100 official appearances for the Godenzonen. The forward's current contract with Ajax runs until the summer of 2013 and an offer in the region of €30 million could be needed to lure Suarez away from the Amsterdam ArenA.

Adebayor sends come-and-get-me plea to Juventus

Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed he would be open to joining Juventus. Adebayor, 26, has fallen down the pecking order at Eastlands and has yet to score in his five appearances for the club this season, and it appears he is now resigned to moving on.

"I'd like to play in Italy and I can see myself in black and white stripes," he told Tuttosport. "I talked it over with Patrick Vieira, who holds excellent memories of the season he spent in Turin.

"Your football focuses a lot on technique and I like it. I had already been in talks for a move to Juve during Fabio Capello's time at the club, but nothing ever came of it. At the time I was very young, but now I am fully mature.

"I am going through a delicate moment in my career and something has to change. I am not annoyed with (Roberto) Mancini and we have an honest rapport, but we can't go on like this indefinitely. Therefore, if Juve want me..."

After his performance against Juve in the Europa League on Thursday, Mancini said: "I am happy with his performance but what I would like is for Emmanuel to score a goal. We need him to score goals. This is what we are working for."

Do Juve regret Criscito sale? Monday 11 October, 2010

Domenico Criscito’s agent has refused to pass judgement on Juventus’ decision to release his client during the summer.

The Turin giants co-owned Criscito with Genoa before deciding to sell their half to the Rossoblu before the start of the new season.

That did raise some eyebrows given Juve’s problems at left-back and pundits have speculated that the Old Lady may now regret letting go of the young defender.

“You’ll have to ask [Juventus director general] Beppe Marotta if there are any regrets,” Andrea D'Amico said on Monday.

“I won’t allow myself to interfere with his work.”

Criscito has impressed so far this season and he’s deservedly won a recall to the national side, as well as being linked with a move to Bayern Munich.

“I too have read the stories in the German media and I’m not surprised by it,” the representative continued.

“After all, Mimmo is one of the best full-backs in Italy. However, it is a bit too early to be talking about the transfer market.”

Ferrara tells Napoli: 'Sign Sissoko'



Ciro Ferrara believes Juventus midfielder Momo Sissoko would be a good signing for his former club Napoli.

The 43-year-old was born and raised in Naples and spent 10 years playing for the Partenopei before joining Juventus in 1995.

He had an ill-fated spell in charge of the Bianconeri last season and was fired in January.

Interviewed on Radio Goal, Ferrara was asked to reflect on rumours that suggest Napoli plan to swap Juan Zuniga for Sissoko.

“Napoli should sign Sissoko,” he said. “He is a great fighter, a player who knows how to make his presence felt in the middle of the pitch.

“Having had him in my team I can say that we are talking about a player who is also adapted to Walter Mazzarri's system,” he concluded.

I love how football rumours are the same the world over.

I've lost count of the number of players who have agreed to join Aberdeen and are already house hunting.

Aquilani and De Ceglie have been playing well. Melo has stepped up his game, but still doesn't have the necessary qualities to make this formation work. Especially with Marchisio playing outside in on the left flank, Melo is not the best fit.

In what way does Melo not have what it takes to make the formation work?

I would say he's been one of Juve's top performers this season. He's got his head sorted (hopefully it's permanent) and has been holding position well, making tackles and distributing the ball sensibly.

He and Aquilani are starting to look like a really good pairing and they, along with Marchisio showed a maturity of performance last night that was needed last night given the players Juve had missing.

And I don't know how you can have Motta in that team. He's been atrocious.

Motta's been atrocious? What a surprise that is.

Melo was excellent against Milan. He really dominated the midfield and done a great job closing down the opposition. While he was poor last season I always thought he'd come good for Juventus.

Is Marchisio a left-winger now?

He's being used there a lot becuase he can't get in the middle ahead of Melo or Aquilani, but he is a better wide player than Pepe.

It's also useful, given how weak Juve's fullbacks are, to have a wide player who will track back and help out defensively.

He's not great out wide, but he can do a job there.

Motta is still young and is pretty good going forward. Melo is not positionally sound. He needs to play next to a more stay-at-home player in order to make the formation work properly. In big games we will see this flaw exposed. I like Melo and was very supportive of his move here and im glad he is playing better this season, but he is still not the solution to this midfield problem.

Marchisio is fine at the left midfield position.

We need to start dealing with Palermo. We have given them and entire roster of talent, now we need to buy some back. Palermo can make profit and we can improve our side. Balzaretti, Cassani, Nocerino, Sirigu, Pastore, and Cavani should all be looked at for possible purchase next season (I don't mean all of them but those are the people from Palermo I would be interested in signing).

Aquilani has been the key to our success this season. His addition to the midfield non-coincidentally coincided with the sudden success of our team.

We desperately need a striker.
