Guys, answer me this...

despite the legalities of the issue, I still think Rosella's tiny mind hopes she can somehow maintain some sort of presence within Roma. If she wasn't thinking beyond the here and now, why would she bother with wanting to scrap the "ritiro" as we discovered a couple of days ago? I'd say it's as well Ranieri managed to get her to back down.

I never expressed unconditional support for Rosella. If I did, then I misled you because there are several aspects of the current operation that seem to me to be flawed.

I am very keen for the new owner to arrive as soon as possible, but I don't understand why a foreign owner is regarded, as a matter of principle, as something to be avoided except as a last resort.

I get the message, but do you accept that this might - depending on the identity of a new Roman/Italian owner - be detrimental to the prospects of the club?

James, Rosella is still capo di capi, yes. But again I think it's not the action of someone accepting being on the way out.

Gio is more explicit in his reply than I here...let's put your "as a last resort" another way. How often have we seen a player do more for his national team than for his club side? 101% instead of the professional 100%...it may not be the best example to offer but in terms of motivation it's not a bad starting point.

I keep thinking, pride in heritage, self belief. It's not blind faith which helps no-one.

Wow. A lot of posts, and I can't take the time to respond to all of them, so I'll just answer regarding my views in general. I can understand why the Italians in particular want Italian (and more especially Roman) ownership. All things being equal, I'd agree with that, but not if the ownership was picked solely on its being Roman - if we went that way, we could end up with Rosella again if someone was stupid enough to back her financially and it were approved. (I know it wouldn't happen, but just saying I don't want a Roman 'at all costs') even though it is definitely my preference for Roman or at least Italian ownership.

To be a bit contentious, though, that team raised as an example of evil internationalism is at least still owned by an Italian, so Italian ownership doesn't mean it will keep our players Italian.

My preference is for the best management possible, with the best interests of the club in mind - all aspects - respect for the traditions, while working to make us successful.

How many posts did Stefano make today? That must be some sort of record (at least since I've been here)

I'd be terrified of foreign owners at Aberdeen.

Our controlling company and all our directors are local folk (or at least locally based).

They know that if they fuck up, not only will they lose money, they will be harrassed every time they set foot in Aberdeen for the rest of their lives. Poor running of the club would also result in their other business interests taking a hit.

A foreign owener, though they may lose cash, could just disappear and never have the problem of having to face up to the mistakes they have made.

That greater sense of responsibility and accountablility makes me feel a lot more confident that all decisions made by the Board will be properly thought through.

A lot of posts, indeed, Lupa. As I've already said to the lads in the Shitbox (the Shitbox, you say? Oh the irony), I'm a little bit worse for wear at the moment to reply in kind with any thoughtful process to do justice to the fine spring of discussion here, so I'll just keep it short and sweet. We only want Roman owners cos we is Roma and shove your forign American dollars an' oil banks up your bums.

Seriously, I don't think anyone, Lupa, is suggesting that it has to be a Roman owner at all costs. I'm very anti- foreign ownership, that much we know (despite me being Irish and so should support Shamrock Rovers as Jamoldo (who?) said, I don't know what the fuck that was about, and will get back to it), yet I have said to Stefano and probably Jamoldo in the past that I am not completely and utterly against foreign ownership at all costs. I certainly would not like to see the club run in an even more unprofessional manner then it is now if it meant staying Roman while the alternative would be more productive if run by foreigners. But there is a lot at stake and a lot to risk when it comes to foreign ownership, and too much to risk in my opinion when it comes to Roma, so it is in the best interest of the club and all its fans – regardless of where they are from or where they grew up, because being a support of Roma is much more than being a supporter of a football team – if it were to stay in Italian and preferably Roman hands.

My preference as far as new ownership is as Lupa stated above. The best management possible with the best interests of the club and the fans in mind. That being said one of the reason I was drawn to Roma that they hadn't yet become a soulless monstrosity like so many Premiershit clubs so I'd love it if an Italian/Roman would step up (I'm looking at you Mister Angelini) Someone who could run it like a well oiled machine but also love it with all his heart and really upset the balance of power of these Northern cnuts... a Romanista.

I probably contradicted myself there but it's late and I am tired.

PS. All this activity but where has Deini been? He usually pops in with his little informative posts. He hasn't been posting on the Offside either.

Again, still very little info from Trigoria. All I have is just a little more on what I posted yesterday:


According to Mediaset, the talk from Trigoria yesterday and today is of the tridente of Totti - Borriello - Vučinić and to quote the terminology of a young acquaintance of mine, Ranieri is too much of a pussy to play it in an away match, even if "only" against Parma. Although our mister has said he intends to attack, I see the Rai suggestion of a 4-4-2 with a Totti - Borriello front two and Vuci breaking from behind in support as being much more his style.

If this is what we get, it puts more of a workload on Vučinić and it wouldn't then surprise me at all to see him substituted around 65-70 mins. As there will be no Ménez or De Rossi, Ranieri hasn't a great deal of "preferred" choice so the probable formation I posted a couple of days ago is most likely. The one item which did puzzle me in that was, why Castellini instead of Riise? Reading around, it looks like he's neither injured nor suspended so I'm guessing this is just some journalist trying to make his own point.

James, that line of conversation has already been covered here several times...I remember all too well the situation which began with Dino Viola's widow selling to that proven rotten crook Ciarrapico, which consequently led us into the nightmare of the mid 1990's, despite Franco Sensi and Carletto Mazzone's best efforts to bring some solidity to our club. It's no short memory.

In this case, Unicredit won't allow a repeat of Rosella Sensi. What worries both Gio and I is the way Angelucci, another who is up to his ears in corruption, is trying to get his paws on us, and by no means for the right reasons I'm sure.

Yes, these guys are Italians and yes we know what else they are too! But they could just as well be of another nationality. We have to put our hope and trust in those who are vetting our prospective buyers.

But for the time being, I've said all I want to on the ownership subject. If anyone else wishes to continue then please carry on, it's your right to do so. My mind is now firmly fixed on tomorrow's match which I expect to be much as we saw against Genoa. Not pretty by any means over the full 90 mins and a narrow victory for us.
