James, that's the bottom line... "how genuine their interest is!" It's a question that wouldn't need to be put to a competent Romano.

I'm not suggesting a non Italian couldn't successfully run our club, I'm saying there are undeniable advantages in having a local man do the job and if it came to a choice between two men of completely equal ability, I'd choose the Romano.


As for our coach, reading around and coming up with almost zilch because of this media blackout, Romanews among others has at least managed to feed us the fact that Ranieri experimented at some length today with the tridente of Totti - Borriello - Vučinić. I don't think we will fail in Parma somehow and therefore Signor Claudio will buy himself some time.

Steve - quite frankly I do not know if it is worth the time or energy to raise up a dead horse that has long been buried and beat it again. At least Carlo and Gio are Roman so I can understand (though disagree) with their sentiments.

Really, stefano? I didn't think there was too much to disagree with in Carlo's post. We want an owner who always cherishes the traditions and history and culture of the club - for whom having some core Italian and Roman quality in the squad matters. The ideal, then, would presumably be a Roman and a Romanista who also has business acumen and sufficiently deep pockets. I don't think, though, that Carlo was saying that the owner has to be Roman at all costs - isn't the point rather that all other things being equal, or fairly close to equal, we should prefer for the club to remain in Italian hands? I don't think Carlo suggested that a foreign owner would necessarily come at the expense of the culture or the traditions of the club or that an incompetent and impoverished Italian owner would be better than any foreign owner.

I used the word "competent" before Romano in yet another post because that's exactly what I meant. I certainly don't want an incompetent one to replace the one we already have!

The MAN, well now...I'm glad a rossonero has come on board and said that. As a man, Leo is a young gentleman. He does, as you suggest, need to mature as a coach though, something I remember posting some time ago on your thread. I think he will one day have what it takes.

Jam, because you are busy with work and not online here much, I don't know how informed you are on the ownership negotiations which have the brakes on for several reasons. What hasn't at all helped is the books couldn't be presented to prospective buyers until our board sanctioned it which took time. James in fact explained that. This damned interlocutory order which allows a case to be reviewed even before it is over doesn't help either.

Interlocutory is a legal term with several meanings: As I read it, in our case, >interlocutory< can be a review or a judgment made in an intermediate stage between the commencement and termination of a course of action, to provide a temporary or provisional decision on an issue. Thus, an interlocutory order is not final and is not subject to immediate appeal. When the case is concluded, any aspect of an interlocutory order that has not become title may be challenged in an appeal from the final judgment.

So aside from anything else, if someone wanted to challenge the right of a prospective buyer when an offer from said buyer is presented, there is the ammunition. All time taking.

Agreed, stefano - which was in no small part why I was surprised by your response to Carlo's post. His 'target', it seemed to me, was someone none of us should like to take over the club and whom none of us should ever have suggested might be good for the club. It was precisely the exaggerated nature of his straw man that seemed to me to make his post essentially unobjectionable. Had Carlo suggested that foreign ownership would automatically compromise the traditions and nature of the club and lead inevitably to a watering down of its Italian and Roman playing contingent then I should certainly have expected people to jump on him. In his heart of hearts, I shouldn't be surprised if he really does think this, but I didn't see it being articulated in quite that form in his post.
