Its a pity about Okaka, but we can't really blame him for his outburst I suppose. During the summer I thought Okaka might have a sort of break-out season for us and become a regular squad player and see more first-team football, but that hasn't happened. The presence of Adriano must be a real shame for him, as he is in his way (in more ways than one, ha) to break into this team. We've all said we'd much rather Okaka on the bench as oppressed to Adriano and really the latter was never really needed after we signed Borriello. So Okaka will probably leave in January, but (once again) I hope its only on loan or co-ownership and not a permanent move.

I hope that piece on Maresca is just BS. We need to inject some youth into this squad and Maresca is not a good option.

Any thoughts on what game to go see in the Olimpico soon? I'm thinking about my next trip to see a game, was thinking of going before the New Year but no big game or one that stands out. Anyone else planning any trips? Thomo, now that the missus is rollicking in the good life in Paree you should go over for a game.

Yes, I think the treatment of Okaka raises important questions about how the promising prospects are developed once they leave the Primavera. Brosco has been the most successful so far, now in his second season of regular Serie B football at Triestina. The situations of Sini, Scardina, Pettinari and Crescenzi are less clear.

Sini played the Italy Under-19 team today in its 2:1 win in Latvia in the European Championship qualifiers. Pettinari was an unused substitute.

The outside of Roma is the tragic, residual effect of the Sensi ownership. At one time Roma had the best youth system in Europe. Now, the relationship between youth players and the club is adversarial. These kids know that they have little to no chance to advance in the organization because the club places no value on youth. They only reason Roma still has a youth system is because of Bruno Conti. He knows that young Romans with talent still dream of playing for Roma and he knows how to tap into that passion, emotion and youthful exuberance because he was once in that position.

I had trouble understanding this. Is he saying that he Spalletti didn't want him to leave, and that he felt the same way as Totti and De Rossi, but it was the management that asked him to leave?

Roma are in the past, says Aquilani

Juventus midfielder Alberto Aquilani says his time at Roma is now in the past and that he didn't betray his hometown club.

The 26-year-old left Roma for Liverfekkin'wankscum last summer only to return to Italy with one of their bitterest rivals.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Aquilani said: “I'd like to clarify something. In Rome they speak about betrayal and even put words in my mouth that aren't true, quotes that appear on social networks attributed to me on which I come to be judged, but which absolutely aren't true.

“They knew that I wanted to play at Roma, but they sold me and they did so for a very important figure. I left reluctantly.

“I went to England and, after a so-so year, I had the chance to return to Italy with Juve.

“Roma is the past, they sold me. I can't look back. This is the truth. There was no betrayal. The rest is just chatter,” he concluded.

Further to what has already been translated in the Aquilani article from Il Messaggero which isn't quite the same thing as the Sky Italia interview...

I take great exception to this young man's comments. Despite his denials, it's clear that he does harbour a grudge against Roma, that's to say our management and some of our players. Let's begin with his reference to Totti near the end of the piece to whom he refers as a "myth" by comparison to The Waterboy whom he describes as a "great," a 110% champion who always wants to win. Aquilani continued, "he was my myth." In other words the man he once looked up to is not what he is made out to be, Totti the man does not measure up to Totti the legend. Our Capitan' has achieved a lot in his career, even by the time he had reached the age Aquilani is now. What has Aquilani done?

He talks of how leaving Roma was like getting a stone out of his shoe. Anyone who has seen Godfather 3 is familiar with the Italian expression, "I have a stone in my shoe!" What an insult by him. He talks of realising Totti, De Rossi and Pizarro were (and still are) unsaleable, yet he cannot accept what both we and he know, the simple truth of the situation. He was injury prone. He was the one who had therefore to be sacrificed to pay the players' wages and other outstanding bills. It was sensible business!

If we look at his words where he considers Steven Gerrard to be the best midfielder currently playing, he takes an undeniable swipe at Pizarro and De Rossi by implication! He says he wants to do well with Juventus and he wants to rejoin la nazionale. He seems to think he has a done deal in Torino and states that they just need to sort out the figures to make his move away from those pieces of shit in the north west of England a permanent one. We will see just what he does or doesn't do with the bianconeri!

Incidentally I'm convinced Roy Hodgson with his knowledge and experience of Italy and it's people knew the best thing to be done was send Aquilani home! The ridiculous part of this, if we remember his outcries of joy at being back in Italia, is that Aquilani cannot see this time he really has been got rid of!

I'm not interested in the part where he says whoever thought he could return to Roma was mistaken. At least he got that part right. As for his not regretting it in time to come, that remains to be seen. We can skip his mention of there being no omen attached to the fact his squad number 14 coincides with the date we play Juve in Torino. Likewise 14 being his father's birthdate and that the father of his fianceé is a Juventino, or the just as useless info that he learned to play golf in England.

I said to our good Professore in my last post, "Tommaso, that clown must think he is bullet proof! Let him go and play golf with his bianconero faggot darling(The Waterboy)...the bastard needs to grow up!"

I won't join those who say they hope he breaks both legs. That's not the way to best deal with a petulant child even if he is in the body of a man in his mid twenties! That said, I can't imagine la curva sud being particularly pleased to see him on April 3 if he is selected to play against us...

To more pleasant stuff...Okaka scored a goal with a close range header for our Azzurrini last night. I hope Ranieri is paying attention to both that and the fact Vuci scored the goal for Montenegro which beat the Swiss!

Carlo, I think you're misreading (travestying) what calling Totti a "mito" means there. Taking the praise of Gerrard as an indirect slight on DDR and Pizza strikes me as more than a little insane. And not being prepared to read Aquilani's comments as answers to the questions he himself was given - rather than chose - suggests to me that you're desperate to find cause for offence whether it's there or not.
