San Siro chief says Brazilian is not on club's radar

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has played down reports that the club are looking to sign Brazilian ace Kaka.

An Italian newspaper claimed on Wednesday that the Nerazzurri were hoping to bring Kaka to the San Siro from Real Madrid in January.

But Moratti insists the idea of signing the midfielder, who formerly played for Inter's fierce local rivals AC Milan, did not stem from his club.

"I read about it in this morning's papers," said Moratti. "It's a wonderful idea, but it doesn't come from us."

The reports also suggested Moratti had discussed the potential signing with Real manager and former Inter boss Jose Mourinho, but the president added: "I have never spoken about this with Mourinho."

Andrea Ranocchia To Move To Inter By Season's End
Genoa defender Andrea Ranocchia has revealed he will be joining Inter either in January or June as president Massimo Moratti 'promised' him...


Current Genoa defender Andrea Ranocchia has revealed in an interview that he will be moving to Inter either in January during the winter transfer window, or at season's end.

The Italy Under-21 international is co-owned by both clubs, but it is his aim to make a move to the current European champions and establish himself.

"I am arriving, Inter," Ranocchia stated to Gazzetta Dello Sport. "In January or June, I will be a Nerazzurri player.

"I owe a lot to Genoa, but [Inter president Massimo] Moratti made me a promise."

Ranocchia had a standout season whilst on loan at Bari before suffering a serious knee injury.

Well, what a night of Serie A. We are level top with Cesena and Cagliari (who would of thought) with Roma getting destroyed and Milan being outplayed.

I'm only happy for the results that occured yesterday. For the rest, our game could have gone either way and that's not positive. And many players seem still to lack a decent condition, mainly Milito & Sneijder.
What can one say about Milan??

I'm only saying that Milan got outplayed because I'm not entirely confident that we will avoid being humiliated like that this year. We were lucky for that win as you stated Lomba. We almost blew the win, Eto'o fluffed the freakin penalty...

We are losing control of the midfield quite easily. It happened in the first game against Bologna and also in the first half yesterday. I am wondering if it is because we are not 100% yet or is it down to Mariga's inexperience.

L’Inter, che stasera esordirà da campione uscente in Champions League, in Olanda, ad Enschede contro il Twente, non sarà la stessa di Madrid, quella che conquistò la coppa il 22 maggio scorso. Infatti, stando alle ultime, Cristian Chivu sembra in forte dubbio e la sua presenza è appesa ad un filo. Sabato sembrava potesse essere recuperato, ma il lavoro differenziato svolto ieri in palestra conferma che la sua presenza in campo è improbabile. Per dare una percentuale, il romeno al 90% non sarà della partita. Al suo posto potrebbe esserci Javier Zanetti che tornerà sulla linea dei difensori, come nelle sfide contro Chelsea e Barcellona dello scorso anno. L’ex portiere della nazionale belga ha detto di aver studiato l’Inter, che non è solo Sneijder, ma è composto da altri e tanti campioni, come Milito ed Eto’o. In attacco, occhio a Janko, centravanti dal gol facile, ma anche al talento di De Jong.

The Inter section has been dead for sometime now. I thought it was the international break but looks like I am wrong. Lomba is turning up here and there but Dejan has gone missing for quite a while.

That's true, Frank - Cajun has been very quiet. I think you guys can be forgiven a quiet start to the new season after the highs of last year. I imagine things will pick up once there's a bit of a rhythm to the new season, too. The International Break derails the season in Italy before it's really started so it's only later in September that you feel things are properly under way. Maybe you'll get a couple of good spankings and that will wake everyone up.

Oh yeah something is interesting. Burdisso just got himself a massive ban of 2 games after butchering Conti's knee.....he shall return in time to face Inter...how amusing. To beleive that Sneijder got the same ban for clapping at the ref last year against Milan is quite simply so Italian...

A straight red is a two game ban, correct? The challenge was awful, no doubt about it, but you can't prove that Burdisso's intention was to injure Conti, which is why it should be only a 2 match ban.

I don't think they normally differentiate between intentional and reckless, due to how tough it can be to decide which category a tackle falls in.

I think you can find a few cases where it's obvious that the intention is to injure. Blatant elbows, stomps etc, could show intent to injure. Totti's kick to Balotelli is a good example of this. In Burdisso's situation you can't prove that his intent was to injure. You could certainly make an argument for it, but unless you know what was going on in his mind at the time he made the tackle, I assume that you have to give him the benefit of the doubt.

As for where do you draw the line, I'm pretty sure these incidents are reviewed before a decision is made on how long a player's ban is supposed to be if he picks up a red. I don't see how you can make a comparison to the Sneijder ban in this case.

Inter and Fiorentina protest refs

Inter have protested against Nicolas Burdisso’s two-match ban, while Fiorentina release their own statement demanding “respect” from referees.

The season is only two rounds old and already clubs are publicly criticising the officials on their websites.

Roma defender Burdisso was sent off in the 5-1 defeat to Cagliari and left Daniele Conti with 30 stitches to his leg for a horribly mistimed tackle.

The two-match ban means he’ll miss games against Bologna and Brescia, but will be available against Inter.

“The Disciplinary Commission did not consider Burdisso’s ‘foul’ on Conti to be worthy of the term ‘violent conduct.’

“Therefore the sanctions demanded by article 19, comma 4, letter b) or c) of the Sporting Justice Code – which call for a minimum of three or five match bans – were not applied,” read a statement on the official Inter website.

“The Disciplinary Commission therefore inflicted a two-match ban. Burdisso will be able to take part in the Week 5 Serie A, game Roma-Inter.”

Didn't watch the match only going by the score line, 2-2 isn't comforting. Sure these guys are dutch champions but it seems as though we haven't really hit our stride yet. I worry for the matches against Tottenham and Werder. Reading Rafa's aspects on the match and he said that we played better in the second half yet no goals were scored or conceded? Did we really play better?
