4-2-3-1 with Pirlo as one of the 2 mids MIGHT work IF the wingers track back AND our fullbacks are defensively sound and do not move up the pitch that much, basically their role will change as they're no longer are required to be main outlet of attacking width ..in general, the 2nd part of the equation is possible given the characteristics of the fullbacks we have, we dont particularly have any explosive fullbacks like we used to with the likes of Cafu and Serginho...the harder part of the equation is ensuring that our wide attackers (likely Pato and Dinho) both track back a bit and help out the midfield without getting too isolated upfront

Also, Flamini will suit us as Pirlo's partner more than Ambro, We'd need a midfielder who can cover alot of ground and more mobile....but then we're also losing some vital aerial presence and he's generally much smarter positionally

Allegri better get the team to practice the 4-2-3-1 as our PLAN B when we're searching for a goal or 2, it would be useful when we need to unlock defenses....4-3-3 with Robinho on the bench should be the main formation to start games, it just makes too much sense on many levels not to go with that

i haven't read his original words in italian, but if this is true about what allegri said, it seems that playing all 4 together will be a secondary option, which is a great thing. those 4, hopefully, should never be on the field together. but allegri has the freedom to pick and choose whose skills and qualities will benefit the team on a match-to-match basis. the only guaranteed spot should be for pato.

Gennaro Gattuso insists Milan have a pre-determined right to beat Inter this season following the arrivals of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho.

Milan have bridged the gap with the Nerazzurri with their arsenal of fire power up front and Gattuso claims that will ensure success on the pitch.

"We seemed like a club who could not even go shopping in a supermarket and then everything changed in five days," he told La Repubblica.

pirlo, nesta, seedorf and probably ambro need to get renewed asap. ronaldinho can be judged by his results in the first half of this season, unless, of course, robinho was brought in to replace him.

SEBASTIAN COATES will join the Rossoneri.

According to reports, AC Milan have secured the services of 19-year-old highly-rated central defender, Coates, who will start wearing Black & Red in January, when the transfer window reopens.

Coates is very tall (196 cm) and has good physical strength and great qualities; he’s good at high balls, good placement and high individual technique. He’s mobile too, and for that, he’s been likened to Brazil Captain Lucio.

Milan have started looking for replacement to the ageing Alessandro Nesta (34) and the young Uruguayan, who plays for Nacional, could be the man of Milan alongside Thiago Silva in the future.

The player will turn 20 by January and therefore he won’t be able to play for Milan’s Primavera, meaning he will be either loaned out or used in the first team.

Coates has played 12 official matches and scored 2 goals with the Primera División Uruguaya side. He also has 10 caps in the national team.

The outburst from Serbian talents continue after it was confirmed that the 15-year-old goalkeeper of Vojvodina, Lazar Petkovic has signed for Milan at the end of week.

Petkovic is considered for one of the biggest “diamond” of European football. Vojvodina’s goalkeeper has also impressed Carlo Ancelotti and tender Alex Ferguson, whos’ been under watchful eye the entire season.

Arsenal and Liverfekkin'wankscum have also been interested in this fifteen year old boy, but eventually he has ended up in the Milan’s jersey, after the trial to the San Siro, which is confirmed by Vlada Borozanm the agent of this amazingly talented goalkeeper.

That's good stuff, sp....Milan has been focusing on youth for a couple of years now...in the midst of all the justifiable criticism we've had for the management during this period, this is not something I've lost track of, we've been investing in youth but this won't show its fruits for a few years at least, assuming they actually prove to be quality players...maybe 2015 at the earliest..

That is true, however, he was not included in the CL list (I dont think he's even in the B list)...maybe an indication Milan don't see him as ready for first team action yet, kind of like the multiple South American names we've had over the last few years (Grimi,Viudez,Cardaccio etc.) which were ultimately a failure...I hope he surprises us all though but don't hold up your hopes on this one just yet

i think montelongo came to milan on saturday, while the list was submitted on monday or tuesday. sunday was the game, monday was a rest day, so i doubt allegri saw him train before the list had to be submitted. allegri even alluded to the fact after the match when asked about the player, he said that he hasn't seen him play so we'll see how that pans out.

they say that real nearly signed him before his knee blew out, i really hope this kid is the real deal. he looks a bit of a lightweight, but he's above 6 feet and he was converted from a right winger/midfielder role to a defender, so we know he will probably be an attacking fullback, which we desperately need.

i hope he surprises us too, this market will turn from an A to an A+ if montolongo steps up.

with regards to Montolongo, how many of us here had heard of Thiago Silva before he signed for us? if Madrid were tracking the kid he can't just be some chump we picked up.

I don't think u can compare him to Thiago Silva though, he was fairly established in South America before we snapped him up and I think he was a cornerstone of his team when they made Libertadores cup final or something like that and was in the Olympics for Brazil, many big clubs were after him including Real,Chelski,Inter, Barca if I'm not mistaken.

Milan are reportedly keeping a watchful eye over Sampdoria midfielder Andrea Poli, hoping to bring the 20-year-old to the Rossoneri during the January transfer window.

According to Corriere Dell Sport, Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani will reportedly make an irrefutable offer to the Ligurian club for the player in the new year, with the aim that the Blucerchiati will sell him.

Also closely monitoring the Italy Under-21 international are European champions Inter and English side Chelsea.

Poli made 31 league appearances last season for the side, and has been capped 11 times by the Azzurrini.
