Let me just say it again, Galliani is the fucking man of the hour...a loan with an option 24 millions!!! This is the first time I see Milan site officially quoting the figure...actually, the 2nd time, I remember they did it when we got Oddo a few years back

This is because it's not the fee you've paid, the Man, but a prospective one. I suspect you may also be underestimating the effect of his salary. I don't know what he's on, but I'm pretty sure that Milan simply picking up his wages for a year will go a fairly long way to covering the cash Barca will have lost on the transfer fees.

Let me say it once and for all - you guys are locked into a mindset based around the way football worked five or six years ago: when transfer fees were the important term in any deal. Now things have changed since salaries have become so extravagantly high. If Ibra stays at Milan for three or four seasons, you will have invested more money in him than you guys could ever have dreamt you'd spend on transfer fees this year and next and the year after. This doesn't for a moment not mean it's a great signing for you. It means that it's not a bargain in the way I think you guys are wanting to see it. Getting Ibra off the wage bill will be worth something like 50 mil to Barca over the next four seasons.

8 mil? Christ. This will be 8 mil after tax, no doubt. In which case it's 16 mil a year for the club. So over four seasons? And even if you don't exercise your option at the end of the season, that's 1/4 of the problem for Barca resolved . . .

his first year, which will be on loan and where we cover his entire wages, will be 12m gross, so 24m net on our part. after that, when we buy him outright (it is an obligation to buy rather than an option) it will drop down to 8m gross, 16m net.

barca will save 60m over the length of his contract, it makes sense for them to sell such an expensive sub. keeps their losses to a minimum.

barcelona don't want to take the chance of ibra returning, so i think it's understood that milan will ultimately get him outright. also, ibra's agent rejected a loan offer initially, so now i'm thinking the only reason he took the first year as loan is because a) he's not getting a golden parachute from barca and b) because he'll make 12m in the first year, that 4m extra he makes will be his 'golden parachute' except paid for by milan.

that's what i figured with the information available.

just in case you guys missed inzaghi's goal in the gamper trophy. one of the finest goals i have ever seen, his movement off the ball to the execution with the ball, it is one of the most beautiful goals we will ever see. the old man still has it, i can't wait to see him in action.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic spoke of his delight after Milan completed a deal to take the striker back to Italy just 12 months after leaving Serie A to join Barcelona. Ibrahimovic moved to Barca from Milan's city rivals Inter in a deal worth €66m (£54.1m) last summer, with Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o, who was valued at €20m, moving in the opposite direction.

However, Ibrahimovic's spell in Spain has lasted just one season with Milan ending days of speculation by finalising a complex agreement for the former Ajax and Juventus forward this evening, subject to a medical.

A statement on the Barcelona website read: "FC Barcelona and AC Milan have agreed a deal for Zlatan Ibrahimovic to move to the Italian club on loan for the 2010/11 season with the Rossoneri paying all his earnings. The agreement includes an option to buy for AC Milan, which they will exercise at the end of the season, for a value of €24m."

An Milan statement added: "The Swedish champion will undergo a medical on Monday morning after which he will sign a contract that will link him to the Rossoneri club for four years."

Ibrahimovic, who was under contract with Barca until June 2014, had a mixed time during his spell in Spain. He scored 21 goals for the club and helped the club retain their La Liga title as well as winning the Club World Cup, two Spanish Super Cups and the European Super Cup. However, he came in for criticism during the campaign and found himself the centre of transfer talk this summer following Barca's €40m purchase of Valencia striker David Villa.

There also appeared to be a strained relationship between Ibrahimovic and Barça coach Pep Guardiola, who the Swede claimed he had barely spoken to in the last six months.

Ibrahimovic, whose final appearance for Barca coincidentally came against Milan in the Joan Gamper Trophy on Wednesday night, is now looking forward to starting a new chapter in his career.

"I'm delighted. Everything has been resolved in the best possible way even though the situation was not easy," he told Sky Italia. Now I return to Milan with a different team than Inter and life goes on."Milan are one of the strongest clubs in the world, for the team and the tradition it has.

"With [Alexandre] Pato and Ronaldinho, we have a fantastic attack. Now it depends on us. I think Milan fans will have fun watching the three of us play at the stadium."

Reflecting on what the reaction of his former fans at treble-winners Inter might be, Ibrahimovic added: "Inter's fans? I don't think they will be thinking of me considering they won everything last season. "The situation that was created at Barcelona has given me a lot of adrenaline and now my dream is to win everything with Milan."

Assuming he passes the medical, Ibrahimovic will have played for each of Italy's three most successful clubs – Milan, Inter and Juventus.
