Milan have been drawn in the same group as Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid, while Inter and Roma both got German opposition in Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich respectively.

Massimiliano Allegri's side were the first Italian team out of the hat and face a similar foe, having taken on Real Madrid at the same stage last season.

Milan came away from the Bernabeu with a famous victory thanks to Alexandre Pato and will be hoping for more of the same.

It wasn't a good night for the Rossoneri, as Ajax and Auxerre also landed in Group G, making it the Group of Death.

Meanwhile, Inter come up against Werder Bremen, the team that overcame Sampdoria in dramatic circumstances earlier this week.

They were joined in Group A with Premiershit side and Champions League debutantes Tottenham Hotspur, as well as FC Twente.

Roma will face Champions League finalists and Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich.

Tricky side FC Basel are also in Group E. The Giallorossi lost 2-0 away to them in Switzerland in the Europa League last September.

Roma will meet another familiar foe in Cluj. The Romanian side famously won 2-1 at the Stadio Olimpico in 2008.

As Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimovic ponders his move from Barcelona to Milan reports in Italy suggest he could also be followed by unsettled Brazilian star Robinho from Manchester City.

Milan are looking to land Ibrahimovic for €40 million, paid in installments over three years, according to Corriere dello Sport. The striker is said to be willing to reduced his wages to €8m over the course of a five year contract to return to Milan for the Rossoneri.

However, a deal that was first thought as an alternative to Ibrahimovic or even to compensate the loss of Ronaldinho, who is now set to stay, Brazilian star Robinho could be about to follow 'Ibra' to the San Siro.

The unsettled forward continues to look for a way out of Eastlands and the Italian media suggest that a deal might not be brokered until January. In the long term the former Real Madrid man will fill the boots of 'Dinho' if he doesn't extend his current contract.

Despite Zlatan being a prize-knob, and despite him being a former Interista, I think Milan fans should be pretty happy if this deal goes through, as like Maldini said he is a step above any current centre-forward you have, and Milan haven't exactly been splashing the cash lately, so he will be a positive signing, I think. If he does arrive, does it spell the end of Huntelaar at Milan?

Robinho on loan? That would be another good move, although I believe he is on something like £250,000-per-week in wages, which would be problematic.

he's not the type of striker we need, but ibra is ibra and he brings with him lots of magic. i'm also p'd off that we are spending our highest transfer fee on a faggot like him. he is a mercenary with no respect to the shirts he wears. but i'll still support him i guess.

man, we could've spent 40m so much more wisely than on ibra. either we could get some young and upcoming italian fullback and a player that has potential to be the next pirlo (maybe even poli).

boateng looked damn good against barca, he was our best player. he is strong as a beast, hustles like a pimp and handles the ball with finesse, i don't want to get too excited, but he's the perfect fit.

Milan welcome newcomers Lecce to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza for the first game of the season, but the Rossoneri will have their minds on someone else – Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Milan have been so focused on the negotiations for Ibra that they seem to have forgotten that there is a game to be played this Sunday. During the summer, the Rossoneri have limited their expenses but the arrival of the Barcelona player could change things radically.

“I spoke with Zlatan and he gave me his word about coming to Milan,” said Adriano Galliani following the friendly match against Barcelona at the Nou Camp. “Still it’s a long road ahead, I’d say the chances of Milan signing the player are 50 per cent.”

In the meantime, Massimiliano Allegri seems to be the only one who cares about Lecce. “We played a good game against Barca but have to improve a lot, especially at the back. Against Lecce I want to see better things.”

Lecce returned to Serie A following a superb campaign in the Cadetti. The Giallorossi have changed a lot in the transfer market and will not be able to field their buy of the summer – Ernesto Chevanton. The Uruguayan accepted a €300,000 yearly wage in order to come back to Puglia even though he was on €1.8m at Sevilla.

“I am so looking forward to this debut game,” revealed Daniele Corvia, last year’s top-scorer with 17 goals. “Chevanton and I can form a good partnership, so I am excited about his arrival here in Lecce.”

Allegri will field a 4-3-1-2 formation against Lecce, with Marco Borriello starting up front. Sokratis Papastathopoulos is expected to start at right-back while Kevin Boateng’s first minute debut may be delayed.

Luigi De Canio is yet unsure regarding the strategy he will be using. Ruben Olivera is suspended so the Giallorossi may be starting with a 4-4-1-1 formation. Newly signed Ignacio Piatti could make his Serie A debut and Milan should watch out from him, he has the potential to be as good as Javier Pastore.

Keep an eye on: Alexandre Pato (Milan) – The Brazilian starlet has had some injury problems but has done everything possible to be ready for this game. Il Papero has to prove a point this term after a relatively disappointing last season. Lecce are already in his line of fire.

here's the deal with Ibra

He will disappear in big games, I would not have taken him 5-6 years ago when we had the best team in Europe, star-studded lineup that knew how to win the big games... but now, with scrubs like Boriello and Huntelaar leading the line, Ibra will be a massive upgrade. We will probably not go far in CL even with Ibra (due to his choking) but without Ibra, we might miss out on CL altogether for the next few years (specially with Serie A losing a spot very soon)

I dont care about the price, it is a bit over-priced for sure but Milan was due to spend...by the way, will this deal set a club record for spending? I think the Rui Costa signing in 2001 was the most expensive so far.
