You guys are so childish. One thing I thought last year was that Vooch was really turning into an assist specialist with his vision and passing. Good to see him start where he left off, then, laying on a goal with a perfectly weighted ball for Pandev over the weekend. He is a true end of leg, no doubt. Carlo, in one of your lost posts you made a comment about people having thought Pizza was a vice-Aquilani: not here, my friend. No Pizza, no party. He is indispensable to the way this team plays and some of us have long insisted on this. When fit, Aquilani is a special player, but Pizza is, in my opinion, world-class as a regista.

The Vooch makes mistakes just like everyone else does. Its not his fault Juan and Lobont failed to read his mind and anticipate his backpass (it was a quality backpass, too, such grace and accuracy). It was a terrible mistake but it was good to see he came out and took responsibility post-game.

Of course Pizza is indispensable, and I'd defo say that he is world-class as a regista. Players who can fill that role with such class are hard to come by.

Seems like we're on loan from Parma as a vice-Redser.

My first post on Serie A with a new server...

So, the clearout continues and we can now add Cerci to the list. All the usual sources seem to be saying Doni will play on Saturday against Cesena. If that's so, it wouldn't surprise me to see him stay with us, being this late in the mercato. It's easy to crucify him now as between his injuries and form loss he is capable of pulling off a real screw up with no warning. Who would have foreseen his coming to this after 2006-07 when he played so well? Certainly not our club given he has still two years of his contract to run.

I see Adriano has pulled a muscle and won't be available for the Cesena match which will be no great loss to us until he is something like fit. As for our other fat Brazilian's fitness, it's probably just as well the thinking in bringing him to us was that he be used primarily as a back-up player.

Losing water weight can make an athlete appear fit and as we all know, the problem then is dehydration and energy loss will set in and force early substitutions. I hope these two guys don't lose too much water from around the muscles instead of the excess fatty tissues or it will in fact be an age before we see them able to last the full 90 mins, perhaps longer in terms of making a telling contribution.


Tommaso, bear with me, I just saw your above post in this new format. I very much agree we cannot do without Pizarro. What I will have meant in my old post is that when he first came to us, Aqui was then seen as Swarovski and Pizza was #2. The talent was always there, it just took Aquilani's many injuries to give our little pizza man his opportunity which I'd say we are all glad he took.

And damn this Burdisso saga is taking forever. If I were Roma I would have searched for another defender if they continued like that. And I did it at the beginning of August...

Adriano out for a month that fat fuck. Deini is correct on Cerci; he's gone forever. Fiorentina have him and that is that I suppose. Another promising young Roman who was never really given a chance.

It's sad to see Cerci go. I didn't think he was as bad as some people made him out to be. I actually thought he was pretty useful, but he just needed more playing time, and it didn't look like he was going to get it under Ranieri.

Also, at this point I don't think we need to be cutting anymore players from the squad. We have the CL this year, and considering the amount of injuries our players pick up during the year, we need as many players as we can get.

Bayern will prove too strong, but there is something far wrong if Roma can't stroll to second place.

Yes, it's a very kind draw for once. No doubt we'll manage to make life difficult for ourselves and certainly the Basils will be a tricky proposition in their neck of the woods. Sad to see Cerci go, but he seems to me to be pretty much exclusively suited to a 4-3-3 and in a way which makes him almost incompatible with Totti. I imagine he'll have a cracking six months in about four years time at which point everyone will lament that he didn't get a chance at Roma before injury and loss of form makes him disappear again. Adriano's injury is predictable and pretty disastrous for him. Since he was going to be starting the season about six weeks behind everyone else (if we're kind) then another month ought to kill him off for good.

Yep, I'm very happy with that draw alright. Glad we didn't get any smelly 'english' clubs at least. I think we'd have a good shot against Bayern, I don't think it will be plain sailing for them. Fiorentina gave them a good run of it last season, and would of beaten them to if weren't for some dodgy refereeing decisions. It will be nice to face Basel and Cluj again, we should wallop them I think and the boys should be extra motivated considering past encounters. We should certainly get through, and for once I think we should be aiming for top spot in the group in order to get a kinder draw in the second round.

Also, the official figure for Cerci was €4m, here is the file –  . Its sad to see another Roman player leave but I don't think he would of seen too much playing time again this season, and I'm not quite has the ability to break into the first 11 with us anyway. Still, I hope he proves me wrong at Fiorentina and does well for them.

So the new season is once again upon us. What are our expectations this time round? Not altogether superfantastico for me, I'm afraid, and if we can replicate last seasons good showing and stay close enough to Inter for a long period of the season I'd be pleasantly surprised. Of course, our mercato has not exactly filled one with renewed optimism, and nor was it ever likely to with the club being up for sale and the uncertain future surrounding us in the long term. Our two new "champions", to quote Rosella bleedin Sensi, in Adriano and Simplicio, have not exactly set the world alight thus far, nor do they look likely to in the foreseeable future. Adriano's injury is a complete disaster for him, and even though I certainly was not expecting him to have a hugely positive impact, the least I could of hoped for was that he gets back to peek fitness and so be set up for potentially getting back to his best. Now that is even more unlikey. The one positive thing we can take from it is that it may mean more playing time for Stefano Okaka Chuka Motherfooka, which could possibly lead to him having a sort of break out season for us.

Still, with big things expected from both Vucinic and Menez and (hopefully) a fully-fit again Il Capitano we can expect good things to happen at that end of the pitch. At the other end, ts good to see Mexes looking like he's getting back to his best, playing with that aggression and determination which was missing from his game last season, and certainly getting back in to his national set-up will bode well for his all-round game. Adding Castellini (who took the number 3 maglia) as a back-up is a good enough result to our seemingly never-ending vice-Redsser saga, and having Rosi back in the mix again is positive. We should have enough to get a win and make a good start to the season. Now if only we could rid of Baptista.

The Burdisso deal is done. Hopefully that does not mean we will sel Mexes in the next few days. I am a bit vexed about Burdisso.There is no doubt he made a decent contribution to the team last season and he was happy to be at Roma. As you all know, he told rubentus to go to hell because he wants Roma. But can we be honest for a moment? He is not the second coming of Samuel. I knew this deal would get done because when I was in Rome I was told Burdisso's kids were already registered in the Rome schools. Anyway, at this point, having another serviceable player heading into the 2010-11 campaign is not a bad thing.
