Frenchesco, good luck to your boys against the flithy English. As you say, I just hope they don't suffer from having had to play such a big game last weekend. Fortunately the English ought to be in a similar situation - coming down from a massive effort. I always thought your boys would struggle in the final in '99 since they played their final in the semi whereas the Aussies were able to build much more steadily to the big one. I have this sneaking suspicion that we might somehow end up with a final which repeats the first match, in that curious way that World Cups seem to have of turning up such things. I will be cheering for your boys, no doubt. I shudder to think that the Avvocato could be right and that the Poms might somehow sneak their way through to the final. If they were to do so they would be hands-down the worst rugby side ever to make the WC final. So long as the weather stays dry I think your boys will have a bit much for them, but we will have to see.

And just in case you misunderstood me, when I was saying that the Grenouilles had a bit of luck last weekend I didn't mean for a moment to detract from the fact that they played magnificently. I simply meant that if you wanted to look for a factor other than the quality of the French performance, then that would lie in those little 50-50 moments which swing things at this level rather than in any complacency from the ABs. I've seen your boys step up to the plate too many times against my boys. Honestly, I think the French must be just about literally a 15-point better side against the ABs than against any other side - it's almost as though beating us is the only real challenge and so the only thing really getting excited about. Let's hope you take the momentum into Saturday's game.

Why why why are Napoli fans not allowed to travel for the Roma game...? Roma v Napoli has always been a great rivalry, but also it has always been a great spectacle with a great atmosphere. I mean is there a particular reason why they are not, or this is the FIGC's grand plan to rid Italian calcio of its troubles? They have done it for the Genoa v Milan fixture, and for some other game as well this season (which I can't think of). I mean, how long do they think they can do that? Whats next, the Lazio fans not being allowed 'travel' for the derby at the end of the month? Unless there's some other reason which is illuding me, I think its extremely shortsighted to just 'ban' away fans from attending rival games. Surely they have to tackle the problem in other ways.

Some great reading with the whole Rube talk, and quite entertaining too, but not quite as entertaining as Dino's suggestion of Donadoni selecting Legrotaglie for CB for Italy's next fixtures. I mean you's do want to qualify, right?

Though it occurs to me, with a sinking feeling in my stomach, that it might just as well be a repeat English-SA match-up in the final as a repeat Grenuilles-OnionArgieBargie one. In which case I'm sure the Boks would win, but if you win tomorrow then I think 'tec really should race out and bet some money on the Argies upsetting the Boks.

Don't worry about those engo's, the French will come out flying and break through easily enough, there shouldn't be much resistence. The english are lucky to even get that far (altough I'll admitt I didn't see the engo-Aussie game as I was busy drinkin), and really no one will expect them to win, and with the home support (the game is in Paris, right?) the French should win very comfortably indeed. Possibly by 40 points, even. Maybe even 50... And in case your wondering, I'm not worried about this game, and I'm not being sarcastic. Nope. I mean they have no chance, no chance of making two rugby WC finals in-a-row, no chance considering they were being torn to shreds in the media all along, simply no chance...

Here is the reason why there will be no Napoli fans against Roma. It seems that Roma are afraid of the Napoli supporters,since the stadium can be easily closed for a couple of matches if some trouble arises.Apparently, in 2005, there was a Roma-Napoli game valid for the coppa Italia,and 8 Napoli fans ended up in hospital.ALso there seems to have been a 'knife' incident between the 2 supporters somewhere in the ninetees and various bust ups between the 2.

Non solo: la partita dell'Olimpico anticipata alle 18 di sabato 20 ottobre. Perché di notte, quella partita, non si può giocare. Così è stato deciso. In attesa della ratifica del Prefetto.

Ma le preoccupazioni, riguardo al "derby del sud", restano. Ha paura il club giallorosso, il cui stadio è già a rischio squalifica, e hanno paura le forze dell'ordine, che addirittura chiedevano le porte chiuse per l'occasione. Nel 2005, dopo un Roma-Napoli di coppa Italia, otto celerini finirono all'ospedale. Anche per questo il Viminale ha vietato la vendita dei biglietti fuori della capitale e della provincia, per evitare che finiscano in mano ai tifosi campani, come già successo per Inter-Napoli. Ma la Roma teme che l'acquisto di tagliandi fuori dai canali ufficiali sia impossibile da evitare.

Un tempo le due tifoserie erano amiche. Gemellate. Negli anni '80, la partita era una festa di colori. Un amore accoltellato a ridosso del Novanta, durante uno scambio di bandiere, poco prima del fischio d'inizio. Un malinteso finito a botte. Ripetute negli anni successivi. Fino al rischio 4.
