Loazzi, I'm almost certain I read we intend to sell Guberti off this summer. Signor Claudio doesn't seem to rate him at all.

I do not have the time to respond to the posts by you giabroni's. Therefore, I will defer until later. I made a birthday party for my wife and cousin tonight. Both are born on the same day. Lobster stuffed with prawns and some filet mignon just to piss off the non meat eating frocetti.

Going home for a month. First stop, Villa Pacelli. Then I'm going to sleep in my own bed for the first time in 25 years.

Andreolli, Antunes, Faty and Cerci - like Mexes - have contracts which expire next year, so I expect all 4 of them to be sold.

I liekd the link to Isla from before because he is very versatile and can play right back - where we also have Cassetti and Rosi - central defence and central midield too, so we would then have a rotation player for De Rossi and Brighi could be sold.

I think it is essential to buy a quality winger because I think Taddei should be a rotation player.

If you recall after the game against Milan last October, Menez said Roma is very suited to play 4-4-2, although we were really one good winger short, although we had Guberti. I think formations like 4-3-1-2 and 4-3-3 are better suited - as Ancelotti once said - to teams which do not have good wingers so they must have full backs who are very good in attack, like Chelsea do. We are not in this position, hence the importance of signing a quality winger.

Deini, it's beginning to look like a new name every day appears as a prospective buyer!

Yes I already knew Polegato wanted to buy Lazio but that's not an issue if we consider the simple fact a man who knows how to succeed in business is interested in buying our club.

I can see that it would be a bone of contention with some giallorossi, having such a man as our "benefactor," but I'd say if that sole point was made as an objection, an outright refusal of acceptance, it would be a clear case of cutting off our noses to spite our faces as the old English saying goes. The other and much more obvious objection would be from those who have no liking for a man who clearly puts business first and sentiment second.

Are we at this point in time in such a position whereby we can afford to be just "too choosy" about one solitary aspect in the cv of an incoming new owner?

If such a man was wise enough to leave the football matters to those better suited while he handled the club's finances, marketing, etc then la nostra Roma will still retain the soul and identity we all hold so dearly. But it must be pointed out that those two qualities we have long cherished are already slipping.

It was our proud boast only three seasons ago that we still fielded a majority of Italiani as our starting XI (usually 7) and our squad had a far lesser overall number of stranieri than the other leading Serie A clubs. Now where are we? Last I counted we had 13 Italians out of a 31 man crew. Scale that down to a working 24 and taking last season as a guideline it becomes more like 5 that we can expect to see both as starters and subs at any given time, though of course the names may vary.

I like Claudio Ranieri but the fact is that on a limited budget he has little choice but to go mainly for cheap imports rather than more costly Italian players while acting within the Sensi régime. (with Motta as an exception!)

Then add what seems to be the natural progression of things whereby the holy grail of the Champions League forces that issue to import ready made stars rather than wait for our primavere to break through.

Polegato probably won't be "The Messiah" I am always on about. I have the feeling fate will see us languish in Purgatory for longer than we would like until finally finding the peace and solidity we badly need with a new presidente, but I know I'd rather see a man like him own Roma than Angelucci aka "Maxi Swindle!"

That's been in the pipeline for a while, Lavazza. All the talk has been of a loan, though I suppose it's easy enough to see it instead being one of those convoluted co-ownership deals which never seem to work in our favour in the end. You guys will, I trust, forgive my complete lack of interest in the speculation about buyers; once something takes some kind of concrete form I shall start to give it my attention but this whirlwind of rumours doesn't interest me at all.

Giacomo, I'd be surprised if we'd bought Adriano in the expectation that he'd spend most of the season coming off the bench. Of course we don't know whether he'll manage to get himself into shape, but I don't think the gamble that the club's taking is one in the hope of having some extra depth on the bench and I don't see Vooch or Totti missing too many games when they're match-fit. Which would mean that if it is a 4-4-2 then it will be a lopsided one with Vooch down the left and someone like Taddei offering balance down the right. And in those sorts of terms, presumably you have to start considering Menez and Vooch as two of the wingers already at the club. An enormous amount depends on the roles Ranieri has in mind for Vooch and Menez (in terms both of the minutes and of the roles they'll play).
