What an anti-climax to the past nearly two weeks! Il Messaggero confirms what I'm seeing on the usual Romanisti websites. La Famiglia Sensi retains 51% with 49% in the hands of the bank. They go on to say this must be finalised by July 26 and our principessa will remain in charge until such time as a new owner is installed.

Rosella is pictured with a big smirk on her face and is making all kinds of noises about how this deal will ensure only the best for both Roma as a football club and for the city...like it was her idea! Talk about trying to take glory from a king sized screw-up! I honestly wonder if she thinks that if we should have a really good 2010-11 season she can somehow manipulate herself into retaining the 51%!!!

I also wonder what kind of salary she pays her PR man, Pippo Marra, because he will have prepared her speech.

Lets say Rosella is still in charge of mercato decisions, and lets say she has a mercato in which we sell for 20m and buy for 10m, where does the remaining 10m go? So the sole purpose of our new 'owners', Newco Roma, is to sell the club. They are actively seeking out buyers while at the same time Rosella and her management are to continue running Roma as if everything is the same. While its good that a takeover of the club by Unicredit was not rushed through so that we'd lay in the hands of the back with no clear buyer on sight and an uncertain future, I can't say I like this agreement all that much. Rosella is to be in charge of the running of the club and so from my understanding the mercato and all financial dealings as well. So that means we can forget about any mercato this summer or any hopes of improving or even equaling last season, as no money will be invested and we will have to sell players (likely going to be Mexes now, too, which is a nightmare) to even see any money put back in to new players, like Burdisso.
