Where would Vargas play? Assuming the Agui deal goes through (or even if it doesn't), Vargas would then have to beat Zanetti for a spot at LB. 20mil for the bench isn't really smart, especially now. Then, I'm not sure he can beat Eto'o, Balo or Pandev for a wingers spot either. Though, if we play with 2 defensive mids, then two full backs flying up and down will be a necessity.

I wish Branca would come out and give us some sort of idea about what we're looking for in the market.

San Siro duel for Caceres?

Juventus are not taking up their option on Martin Caceres, so the Barcelona defender could return to Serie A for Milan or Inter.
The Uruguayan spent the season on loan in Turin to recover from a long injury lay-off, but Juve decided not to make the move permanent.

His time in Italy may well not be over, though, as it’s reported that both Milan and Inter are showing an interest.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Caceres could go out on loan again and be a cheap but reliable option for the San Siro clubs.

Milan need him as a replacement for Massimo Oddo, while new Inter boss Rafa Benitez is looking for alternatives to Real Madrid target Douglas Maicon.

It is also reported that the Nerazzurri are considering England star Glen Johnson for the role.

Mascherano: sms da Rafa, martedì l'incontro clou. Invece per Kjaer...

Ve lo abbiamo già rivelato in giornata, adesso arrivano conferme anche da Sky Sport. Le voci spagnole, diffuse in mattinata da El Mundo Deportivo, su un possibile interessamento del Barcellona per Javier Mascherano, non corrispondono alla realtà. Il centrocampista argentino, in realtà, vuole soltanto l'Inter: FcInterNews ve lo ha già detto e Sky conferma. In queste ore, intanto, Rafa Benitez sta letteralmente tartassando il giocatore con numerosissimi sms per raccontargli dell'Inter e per spingerlo ancor di più verso il nerazzurro. In questo momento, El Jefecito è assolutamente preso dall'opzione Inter e con ogni probabilità dovrebbe essere lui il primo grande colpo della campagna acquisti del club campione d'Europa. Martedì ci sarà l'incontro decisivo per definire l'affare anche con il Liverfekkin'wankscum, summit al quale prenderanno sicuramente parte Marco Branca e gli agenti del ragazzo. L'affare comunque sembra molto vicino, giocatore e società sono entusiasti.

Intanto, giungono novità importanti anche sul fronte Simon Kjaer: mentre in serata da Palermo trapelavano voci di un forte interessamento dell'Inter per il difensore danese, vi abbiamo raccontato che in realtà il club nerazzurro non è intenzionato a prendere Kjaer per l'alto costo e perchè non è una priorità in un mercato così oculato. E anche Sky ha confermato, con Gianluca di Marzio che ha dichiarato: "L'Inter ha già fatto seguire il giocatore nelle ultime prove di campionato, ma non ha entusiasmato". La pista è quindi fredda in questo momento, e con ogni probabilità Kjaer non arriverà all'Inter in questa sessione di mercato.

Looks like Mascherano really is heading our way and all the stuff about him going to Barca were just rumours. Whatever talk there was about Kjaer is now dead and buried.

I dont want Kjaer. Pretty average defender with an extremely high cost. No thanks. Get Ranocchia. For the time being, he is more than enough, considering Lucio & Samuel are still very fit to play for another 2-3 years and Cordoba, Materazzi & Chivu are more than good alternatives.

Arrivano altre novità di mercato da Sky Sport, 'Speciale Calciomercato'. Secondo le ultimissime, l'Inter avrebbe chiuso per avere la metà di Andrea Ranocchia con il Genoa, un affare importante che vi avevamo anticipato da tempo. Inoltre, vi sarebbe un'idea low cost per il centrocampo, quella di Elano, centrocampista del Brasile. Ma comunque, domani ci sarà un incontro per Javier Mascherano (come già anticipato ampiamente). Infine, sembra che l'Inter abbia anche tentato di inserirsi per prendere Leonardo Bonucci, ma c'è la Juventus in prima fila.

I'd be extremely happy with Elano, especially if he arrives on the cheap. Half of Rano is ok; treading with caution after his injury is a wise move.

So we're looking at 28mil for Maicon. I'd rather hold out for 30 but we need to keep a good relationship with Madrid considering their rejects basically won us the CL and we'll eventually get more players from them. But still it's good cash to finance our market.

I too would be happy with Elano for a rather cheap price. He can play instead of Sneijder & also on the flanks. He would be ideal. Ranocchia..I have absolute faith in the guy's potential, but probably you're right Dejan. After this injury, we should be cautious.
As for Maicon, we wont go any less than 30M..

28-30 mil is still a good range; it's not 35 but still a very good price considering he's at his peak and he is a defender after all. How much is the half of Rano going to cost us? Around 7.5mil?

There's probably a high chance that Khrin goes out on loan or co-ownership this season and I hope it's to Genoa or Parma to get game time but most importantly they won't haggle with the price as we've got a good relationship. I really don't want him to go to Palermo as Zamp is a cunt and a half to deal with so we should stay well away from there, unless it's to secure a future option on Pastore and only loan.

As a rumor, reports are saying we're trying to snatch Bonucci from under Juve's noses. It could be quite possible but considering every single day we hear Caliendo saying Agui is only missing finishing touches on his deal, it's hard to say.

Real within €2m of signing Maicon

Real Madrid are within €2m of signing Inter's Brazil international right-back Douglas Maicon, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 28-year-old is their No 1 transfer target this summer and has already expressed his desire to move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

La Gazzetta understands Florentino Perez has bid €28m for Maicon and while Inter were initially holding out for €35m, they are apparently prepared to do a deal for €30m.

Real Madrid's new boss Jose Mourinho is keen to be reunited with as many of his former Inter players as possible, asking for Wesley Sneijder and Diego Milito.

However, Inter aren't prepared to sell either of them, although Milito's agent Fernando Hidalgo is expected in Milan today to discuss his contract.

Milito wants a significant improvement on his current deal and Inter have apparently readied an extension until June 2014, which will net him €5m a season.

E' terminato l'incontro tra l'agente di Milito e Burdisso, Fernando Hidalgo, e Marco Branca. Al termine del colloquio, che si è svolto nella sede nerazzurra, il manager si è espresso sull'esito relativo a Diego Milito e Nicolas Burdisso. Per quanto riguarda l'attaccante, l'accordo sul ritocco dell'ingaggio è stato trovato senza problemi, come Hidalgo ha confermato: "Posso ritenermi soddisfatto, Milito voleva rimanere all’Inter e la società nerazurra lo ha capito. Erano interessati a lui numerosi club, ma l’Inter ha capito la situazione. Parlerò con lui appena possibile per comunicargli com'è andata".

Meno soddisfatto, invece, l'agente per quanto concerne il discorso Burdisso: "Il giocatore vorrebbe rimanere a Roma, questo è evidente, ma l'Inter ha avanzato richieste molto alte e queste vanno rispettate. Vedremo cosa succederà, altrimenti potrebbe anche rimanere in nerazzurroâ€

Balo and Santon go back to school

Inter duo Mario Balotelli and Davide Santon would have much preferred to be at the World Cup today because they were doing their school exams.

The two youngsters joined 500,000 Italians in sitting their finals.

Both arrived at a private school in Milan this morning in the hope of recording a different kind of pass to what they're used to.

Balotelli was supposed to take the exam last year, but had to defer another year when he was called up to represent the Italy Under-21s at the European Championship.

Both have already graduated from Inter's academy, although Santon's progress was hampered last season because of a series of knee injuries, which eventually required surgery.
