Lomba, below is the link re/the article about our reputed interest in Sanchez, the supposed exchange of Cerci and Andreolli for Sculli and Mesto, plus the reference nearer the end of it to the "chance" meeting between Preziosi and Pradè. Who could prove under those circs that it was a pre-arranged meet?

Thinking otherwise than "chance" is the cynicism of yours and my Italian natures coming out!

How can we afford Sanchez? We're struggling to even come up with the dosh to pay for Burdisso, and that largely depends on if we sell some of our fringe players (Baptista, Doni, Cici). Sanchez had a very good game for Chile in their opening game and I'm sure there's a lot of teams who have their eye on him, and if interest comes from the Premiershit we'd be priced out, no doubt. The only way we could get 'em is if we sold Mexes, so no thanks.

Roma will warm up for the new season after accepting an invitation to play in a four-team Paris tournament. The Giallorossi will join Paris SG, fellow French outfit Bordeaux and Portuguese giants Porto in games pencilled in for July 31 and August 1.

Meanwhile, the capital outfit’s new strip will be unveiled on July 13 after they recently signed a contract extension with kit suppliers Kappa until 2017. The home kit will be in the club’s traditional burgundy red, the away strip will be white, while the third will be black with a wolf motif on it.

They hope to get 10 million for Motta and Curci (shame that both will be sold) and then those three flunky Brazilians needs to be sold with no takers. Even Sao Paolo doesn't want Cici. Inter wants around 9 million for Burdisso and yes we don't have that money.

Ed, the fact we can't afford Sanchez is why I purposely didn't comment on the entire article that fact came from, preferring to concentrate on the more believable items. That said, with Sanchez playing in the World Cup it was odds on someone was going to rise to the bait...

But since we're here, a piece regarding Motta is worth a comment. I mistakenly thought we currently half owned him and hoped to use that 50% in some sort of deal with Udinese over Sanchez. In fact what we have of Motta now is is nothing, now that the loan has expired, other than a "first refusal" option to co-own him for €3.5mil, a move we know our management has no interest in.

LaRoma24.it ran a piece on Knezevic of Livorno who has said he wants to join us, another "believable" move.


More differing rumours on those players we seem to want to part company with:

Motta to Juve, Guberti to Fiore, Curci to la Samp, and Andreolli to Bologna. Meanwhile Baptista dreams of Milan...

...and yes, no takers for Cici and as yet Doni!

At least we know for sure now, irrespective of whether it's to Genoa or wherever, all these guys are considered by our club like I already said, as being worth little more than barterable commodities on the open market!


A last word...it was good to see Samuel finally and deservedly get a mention here!

I don't know why we're not taking up our option on Motta. We're being linked with a host of dud right full-backs and Motta, despite not having a great season, is still better than the lot of them. I don't understand why we don't plan on keeping him.

Of the latest mercato BS, the one that catches my eye most in Andreolli. Not because of him, directly, but because if we are to see him leave it would leave us with only three centre-halfs (er, well, technically two, since we don't yet own Burdisso), which would make the departure of Mexes seem more unlikely, to my mind anyway (knowing our management, though, they'd probably sell both and leave us scrambling cover for centre-half at the end of the mercato).

Roma bought 50% of Motta's contract from Udinese in June 2009, hence the ongoing negotiations with Udinese to resolve the co-ownership before it goes to the envelopes in a week's time.

James, I originally thought we owned half of Motta and made a recent post thinking we may use our half of him for some sort of bargaining tool with Udinese...almost as you in fact say above. I can blame my own haste and a journalist who didn't confirm his facts for wondering if I'd got it wrong.

The entire story as it should be is as you know: Motta was loaned out to us on February 1, 2009. He arrived on a free loan until the end of the season which included giving us the right to buy up half his contract in June for €3.5million or outright for €7million in three instalments. On 24 June 2009 Roma exercised that right to buy half of his contract.

Well, just maybe something positive could happen over Sanchez depending upon how much both ourselves and Udi can squeeze from Juve if Motta does go to them, thanks to this, but it's obvious as Ed has mentioned, the chances become more and more remote the longer Chile stays in the World Cup and with Sanchez' continued good play.
