Guilherme Do Prado, a midfielder I think co-owned by Cesena is apparently on our shopping list, according to Mediaset.

Not having seen him play I can't comment on him.

Looks like Ranieri is set to sign a new deal with Roma until 2013 (according to Il Corriere dello Sport), for €2m a season plus bonuses. Maybe he's convinced of our managements abilities going forward, or else Rosy is suckin' em off:

Angelini in profondo rosso pensa ancora all'As Roma

MILANO (MF-DJ)--Il portafoglio azionario della famiglia Angelini in questo momento registra una perdita potenziale superiore al 50%. La Angelini Partecipazioni Finanziarie ha in pancia quote di Unicredit, Mediobanca, Mps, Tamburi Investment Partners e Management&Capitali, un giardinetto che a bilancio e' iscritto per un valore totale di 62,2 mln, ma che ai prezzi correnti di borsa ne vale 27,78, con una minusvalenza potenziale di oltre 34 mln, che significa il 55,34% rispetto al costo storico.

Nonostante queste perdite teoriche, si legge in un articolo di Milano Finanza, gli Angelini non hanno proceduto a svalutazioni, convinti che poi i mercati si riprenderanno. "Si ritiene che al momento sulla base delle informazioni e dei dati in possesso non vi siano elementi tali nel patrimonio delle partecipate che possano far ritenere non recuperabile l'investimento effettuato rispetto al valore di mercato, nel periodo temporale medio-lungo per il quale si ritiene per motivi strategici di detenere queste partecipazioni", si legge nella relazione di bilancio 2009 della cassaforte che si e' chiuso con un utile di 465.742 euro.

Gli Angelini puntano adesso alla diversificazione degli investimenti: l'anno scorso la scommessa sono stati i fondi di private equity. E sempre nell'ottica della diversificazione, gli industriali marchigiani sono ancora in lizza per l'acquisizione dell'As Roma della famiglia Sensi: un dossier sempre aperto ma che pare si stia lentamente raffreddando.

LUCA TONI ENDS BAYERN STAY


Bayern Munich and Luca Toni have terminated the striker's contract by mutual consent, and the Italian is expected to complete a move to Genoa shortly. Toni still had a year left to run on his deal but, after spending the second half of last season on loan at Roma, it was clear he was surplus to requirements at the Bundesliga club under coach Louis van Gaal.

The 33-year-old has been attracting interest from several clubs back home in Italy, most notably from Genoa, but the prospect of paying a transfer fee for his services seemingly put clubs off firming up their interest. Toni and Bayern have therefore reached an agreement for the premature termination of the contract, making him a free agent with immediate effect.

"I would like to thank Luca Toni with all of my heart for his performances and goals, particularly in the 2007/08 double-winning season," said Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. "I wish Luca Toni now all the best with the future at his new club."

That club is expected to be Genoa, whose president last week claimed they had agreed a two-year contract with the player. Reports suggest the deal was on the condition that he would be available on a free transfer.

Toni played a total of 60 Bundesliga matches for Bayern, scoring 38 goals and becoming the Bundesliga's top goalscorer in 2008. His goals also helped them win the DFB-Pokal and reach the semi-final of the UEFA Cup that year. However, he fell out of favour under Van Gaal this season and spent the second half of the campaign on loan with Serie A outfit Roma, who chose not to make the transfer a permanent one this summer.

I knew Bayern would terminate his contract. Just think, if we had of said we want to keep Luca at all costs then I'm sure Bayern would of held out for a few million. Now he is a free agent. Is there still room for him with us, even with Adriano, do we think?

I hope so. Who knows how Adriano will turn out this season, but if he flops then it would be good to have Toni on the team. We will probably loan out Okaka again, and so we'll need a striker. The only problem would be how much money he's asking for. But since we gave Adriano a contract above our "cap" then money shouldn't be an issue, right?

We didn't give Adriano a contract above our cap did we, Chewna? We gave him the same kind of contract as that we gave Mexes: at the limit of the cap with bonuses then written in to allow it to get towards what Adriano was asking.

Yes, money is obviously the important thing here, as in would we be willing to give both Adriano and Toni lucrative contracts. I wonder if we could get Toni for a reasonably lower wage then he is was at Bayern and what he may be looking for now. I mean, he did say he'd like to stay in Rome, and I believe he even bought a house here, so would he be willing to join us for a modest wage compared to what Genoa could offer, say?
