Chiellini is in the process of negotiating a new contract, so these are the standard rumours you get around contract renewal time, even though there is no suggestion of any problems in the negotiations.

I wouldn't mind seeing Juve sign Gallas for a season or two, but at the moment he is meant to be asking for more cash than Juve are willing to give him.

The only thing I would say, red, is that I think it's pretty likely that Vidic will leave ManUre this summer and I should think Chiellini's exactly the kind of player that Whisky-Nose would like to bring in as a replacement - because he'll be after a truly destructive, physical player who will complement Ferdinand and, even more so, Jonny Evans. That Chiellini is left-sided, too, would make him even more appealing to ManUre. Sure it may be empty rumour, but it is a story which makes sense in its own right, I think.

I don't think Vidic is leaving Man Utd this summer.

It looked like it may happen at one point a few months ago, but Vidic has since said he intends to stay and Man Utd have said they've no desire to sell.

I think it's entirely possible the transfers you suggest will happen next summer, though.

CHIELLINI 'HONOURED' BY MAN UTD LINK


Giorgio Chiellini's agent says the Italy defender is "honoured" to be linked with a summer move to Manchester United. The Juventus stopper is reported to be one of Sir tender Alex Ferguson's top transfer targets as he plots United's attempt to regain the Premiershit title. Chiellini has been linked with a £25million move to Old Trafford as a possible replacement for Nemanja Vidic, should the Serbian depart.
