"It's difficult for Milan in the transfer market at the moment; it seems that the club will have to limit itself to relatively inexpensive deals and part-exchanges. The fans have to understand that."
Probably what does? Where did you get that quote from? That is different from what was said in the article Shinpin posted. Can you please provide a source to these quotes you are making up, or else be more precise in your meaning.
they key point that i took from what he said was the necessity for new players. a few days ago galliani said that with allegri we'll have a competitive team to challenge inter for the scudetto. now Maldini comes out saying that allegri will not be enough, that we need new players.
i can accept having a goal of reaching the champions league rather than trying to win the league, as long as the players play their heart out. but if the management is gonna lie to our faces by saying we can challenge inter (galliani) or that 'if i was in charge we wouldve won the scudetto with points to spare' (berlusconi), that is just a slap to the face.
I agree, Shinpin. That your management continues to go down the path of believing they are competitive to the point of challenging a squad like Inter's for the scudetto is quite ludicrous. That is also why you realistically couldn't of gotten a new manager like Benitez or, for the sake of argument, Mourinho, because they clearly would of insisted on more, whereas someone like Allegri will be simply content to be managing the great Milan he won't dare challenge the powers that be. A poisoned chalice awaits for a new manager at Milan.
What do you Milan fans think of this, then? Think he could leave?
Pato unsure of his future – Wednesday 9 June, 2010
Milan striker Alexandre Pato says it's too soon to tell whether he will stay at the club this summer. The 20-year-old Brazilian is currently in South Africa, although not for the World Cup, but a charity project sponsored by Nike. When asked about his future, Pato said:
“Right now it's too soon to say if I am staying at Milan. I only want to talk about these things after July 20. I am not even following Milan's business in the transfer market.
“I have come to South Africa for this charity project and to support Brazil blowing my vuvuzela.â€
Milan Patron Silvio Berlusconi Tells Adriano Galliani To Raise Transfer Funds By Selling Players Players need to be sold before new ones arrive...
Jun 12, 2010 10:10:00 AM
Milan patron Silvio Berlusconi has sent a transfer mandate to CEO Adriano Galliani reminding him that equity needs to be raised from player sales before the club invests in new transfers.
Telelombardia reports that Berlusconi spoke to Galliani over the phone this week, telling him to have a rethink before making heavy investments.
With the transfer budget slashed in line with new spending policies, Galliani has little to play with.
Berlusconi wants fringe players on high wages ousted from the club and he hopes Galliani can bring the wage bill down across the squad. It currently stands at €86 million per annum.
Kahka Kaladze, Marek Jankulovski and Massimo Oddo are all unlikely to be offered new deals as part of planned cuts. Even Ronaldinho's future is uncertain. He seems unwilling to take a pay cut, leaving the door open for a move to Manchester City.
Come anticipato questa mattina dal nostro sito, ora è ufficiale: Manuele Blasi centrocampista ventinovenne ex Napoli, Juventus, Palermo e nazionale è un nuovo calciatore del Milan.
If we do sell Thiago Silva and Pato this season I will be seriously reconsidering my support for Milan. Especially Thiago. The kid has easily been our best player and showed more heart than the rest of the team put together.
I know its been a while since I last posted but it wasn't entirely because of Milan's season; if anything I thought we did far better than expected. Leonardo was set up to fail and he kept us afloat with a worse squad than at Ancelotti's disposal.
I would even be happy about this season if it wasn't for Inter winning the treble. The pain on hearing that they won the CL was almost as much as watching the Istanbul finals.
Oh well, might as well join the chorus...Fuck Berlusconi and Forza Milan and all that...
good to see you back, rob. i am in agreement; the club is making it a challenge to support them. of course, i will never support another team, but it will weaken my love of the sport
Milan grow impatient with Allegri deal www.football-italia.net – Wednesday 16 June, 2010
Milan are growing impatient with Cagliari President Massimo Cellino's intransigence over Max Allegri. Milan have made Allegri their No 1 choice to replace Leonardo who left by mutual consent at the end of last season. Allegri is still under contract at Cagliari despite being sacked for growing 'distracted' in April.
Mediaset understands Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani was supposed to have a meeting with Cellino, but the latter has yet to return from Miami and has given no indication as to when he will return. Galliani is apparently so frustrated that he is prepared to break off all negotiations with Cellino and abandon Allegri.
Milan's fans are equally annoyed, partly because they can't believe a club of Milan's stature can't get the Coach they so dearly want. Mediaset claims that Galliani has already got in touch with Leonardo to see if the Brazilian would be prepared to return. The rescission of his contract has yet to be presented to the League, leaving the door open for a dramatic return.
Milan ace Ronaldinho is using up his free time away from the Brazil squad by clubbing. Globoesporte reports the playmaker, who was excluded from the Selecao 23 for the World Cup, has been spending time in Brazilian resort Florianopolis.
Ronaldinho has checked into the Majestic Palace Hotel with a number of friends including Alexandre Pato and former Manchester City man Jo.
And, rather than watch the World Cup on TV, Ronaldinho has been using his time to go clubbing, partying late into the night in many of the night spots around the resort. On Thursday night he stopped to greet fans to sign autographs. The party doesn't end there though. 'Dinho will reportedly attend a concert by Brazilian rap star Marcelo D2.
