Rafael Benitez will be the next Inter boss, but Serafino Ingardia believes the Spaniard will find it incredibly difficult to replace the Special One

As Rafa Benitez gets ready to put pen to paper on the lucrative contract which will tie him to Inter, the Nerazzurri are preparing themselves for a new era which they hope will be as successful as the last one.

Negotiations haven’t taken long and the former Liverfekkin'wankscum manager should have no problem settling in as he speaks both Italian and Spanish, which arguably are the spoken languages in the Nerazzurri dressing room.

Perhaps this is one of the reasons which persuaded Massimo Moratti to sign him. Although, you have to admit that there wasn’t much out there on the coaching market and Rafa's competitors for the job were far from reachable.

Fabio Capello had committed himself to England, Sinisa Mihajlovic was too inexperienced and agreed terms with Fiorentina, Luciano Spalletti and Guus Hiddink were tied to Zenit and Turkey respectively, while Zdenek Zeman could have never been considered for the job. Rafa was basically the only choice.

But how will Inter be affected by the arrival of Benitez? In terms of tactics, the Spaniard will probably retain Mourinho's shape although, considering how stubborn he is, we may see him field Inter differently to prove a point. That will do them no good.

In England there seems to be a general belief that Rafa's style will suit Serie A to the ground. Many claim his tactics and ‘robotic’ understanding of the game will surely excel on the Italian stage. Having studied in Italy, Benitez definitely doesn't lack the knowledge.

Still I feel this could be the wrong way to look at things. The Spaniard’s tactical skills proved fundamental when Liverfekkin'wankscum were facing less tactically aware teams and managers. In Serie A, Benitez will face the masters of it and he better not underestimate them.

Even the weakest top-flight sides have Coaches capable of slowing down the game and making it difficult for the big boys – this is what makes Serie A so competitive. As a result, I wouldn't be surprised to see Inter collecting a number of goalless draws at the beginning of the season.

As for a spectacular style of play, we didn't get that when the Special One was in charge and we certainly won't see any of it under Benitez.

Will he be able to handle the pressure? Even there Rafa may tumble. Chances are he will have a go at the Press and the fans for comparing him to Jose just a few weeks into the role.

Indeed Inter players should be prepared for a radical change. Mourinho was their leader but also a players' manager. Rafa has a totally different approach. At Liverfekkin'wankscum he reportedly fell out with the likes of Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Fernando Torres.

If the same thing occurs in Milan then he will be out in no time. And while Liverfekkin'wankscum couldn't afford to sack him, Moratti will be financially strong enough to end the Spaniard’s reign when he sees fit.

Inter Milan strike Benitez deal

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has confirmed that Rafael Benitez will be appointed as the new head coach of the Italian champions on Wednesday.

After leaving Liverfekkin'wankscum by mutual consent last week, Benitez was immediately installed as the favourite to replace Jose Mourinho at San Siro and negotiations were concluded successfully on Tuesday night.

"We have reached a deal with Benitez," Moratti told Sky Sport 24 Italia. "Tomorrow we'll announce the date and time of the presentation press conference.

"We finalised the last details, which were not all that important anyway. All we are waiting for is his signature and it's all done."

Benitez left Liverfekkin'wankscum after a disappointing season in which they failed to qualify for the Champions League when finishing seventh in the table.

He faces a daunting task in replacing Mourinho, who won the Treble for the Nerazzurri last season before opting to move to Real Madrid.

The FIGC and its chief investigator Stefano Palazzi are probing Inter and Genoa over the transfers of Diego Milito and Thiago Motta last year after it emerged the moves were allegedly illegal, according to Tuttosport.

And the Nerazzurri could risk the revocation of their Scudetto and Coppa Italia titles as the investigation could impact upon match results. President Massimo Moratti and Grifoni chief Enrico Preziosi have both received a mandate from Palazzi and they will be examined over the transfers.

The FIGC believes they were not conducted legally because Preziosi is currently banned. Reports from Italy suggest both clubs could escape with a fine if they are found to have breached rules.

But one legal expert in sport said the consequences could be far reaching.

"For both Moratti and Preziosi this could end up with a fine and ban," the expert told Tuttosport.

"But the sports code states that the transfers of both players is to be considered invalid. The application of the law would mean an effect on the games which both players played in, meaning a points deduction and that would have an effect on the results of the season."

Speculative voices suggest Roma could be handed the title and Coppa Italia if the Italian FA applies the full letter of the law when they reach a decision. But, it's more likely that both clubs will receive just a fine.
