Yes guys, as you say, we have officially signed Simplicio who hasn't kicked a competetive ball for Palermo in months...now we have to hope I am wrong in suggesting he is too much of another Amantino Mancini, turning it on as and when when the mood takes him.

While I fully realise that the Chilean forward Mauricio Pinilla is not a direct replacement for Simplicio, it shows Palermo's intent. Scoring 24 goals in 24 matches for Grosseto in "B" at least shows he knows where the goal is. At €3.5mil I'd say he is worth taking a chance on, though I guess that's the kind of step which is too obvious for Signor Pradè, our transfer "guru" to take! Palermo haven't finalised the deal yet...

This is a piece written by Vanda Wilcox (Spangly Princess) about the launch of MyRoma, the supporters trust. (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Roma, 03 giu - Unicredit e Italpetroli provano a trovare l'accordo per mettere fine alla battaglia legale sul rientro dei crediti per oltre 325 milioni vantati dalla banca nei confronti della holding della famiglia Sensi, di cui Unicredit e' socio al 49 per cento. Domani si svolgera' la prima udienza arbitrale per tentare di mettere le basi per l'intesa. Intanto fonti vicine al dossier smentiscono le notizie di stampa secondo cui i sindaci e i revisori contabili sarebbero intenzionati a non approvare e certificare il bilancio della holding. "I sindaci e i revisori - riferisce una fonte - stanno lavorando per certificare il bilancio entro fine mese". Nello studio del professore Cesare Ruperto, presidente del collegio arbitrale, si riuniranno domani i legali delle parti e gli arbitri Romano Vaccarella ed Enrico Gabrielli. Per Unicredit sara' presente l'avvocato Francesco Carbonetti, mentre Italpetroli sara' rappresentata dall'avvocato Agostino Gambino. Secondo quanto si apprende, Unicredit proporra' un accordo che prevede il passaggio di tutti gli asset di Itapetroli alla banca, inclusa la A.s. Roma, ad eccezione di alcuni immobili che resterebbero di proprieta' dei Sensi. In cambio, la proposta prevede l'estinzione del debito e la rinuncia di Unicredit a tutte le controversie legali: dal patto di riscadenzamento del debito ai decreti ingiuntivi nei confronti di Italpetroli. E' probabile che quella di domani sia solo un'udienza interlocutoria, destinata a sondare la possibilita' di gettare le basi dell'accordo.

The highlighted portions are why one needs to be careful in reading articles interpreting the words of somebody. Here, in this piece, Ranieri is being his usual honest self. He states that 'our folks know our resources and that there is no need to promise the moon'. The fact that the article is prefaced in the English by saying 'we can't make fun of the fans connotes something much different than non prendere in giro which means to 'take somebody for a ride. In other words, to bullshit the fans, to deceive them into thinking Roma is going to make some big splash in the market.

I point this out because old Jimmy here thinks big things are in works for Roma's market this summer. The problem Rosella has now is with a coach who is honest to a fault. There is no deception in him which is a very new concept to Rosella and Pippo Marra. It is what it is. Roma has no money and can barely pay the bills let alone bring in some world class talent.

Roma lay down law to Adri

Roma have apparently laid down the law to Adriano, initially asking him to go on a diet on his arrival in the capital.

The 28-year-old Brazilian striker is due to sign from Flamengo amid a great deal of scepticism from Roma supporters. Adriano was renowned in Italy for his problems with alcohol, which admittedly had much to do with the tragic death of his father. However, La Gazzetta dello Sport understands that Roma are keen to protect their investment, so much so in fact that they have apparently asked him to maintain his best weight, follow a balanced diet, not to abuse alcohol, train regularly and not to make use of doping products.

He will also reportedly be fined if any photos are published showing him on a night out on the town.

I don't think we would have mvoed for D'Agostino even if we were rolling in cash, thredmund. He's too short of pace to play further up the pitch as a trequartista and so he'd sit on the bench for pretty much every minute Pizza was on the pitch. I like him as a player, but he's a regista these days and doesn't complement the midfield options we already have. Simplicio is a better option even had Gaetano also been available for free.
