Yes, Maldini, I too think there is more to be gained from than lost over our signing Adriano!

Most of you guys know I would far rather have him with us than against us which is a distinct possibility since we know he wants to return to Italia. That he chooses to prefer Roma doesn't surprise me one bit because in the company of fellow Brazilians for team mates he gets to play CL football and contest the top places in Serie A.

Sure, he could revert to his party animal act at the first sign of things not going his way but where we have an advantage over Inter in dealing with that problem is quite simply, he will be kept too busy playing football for us given our fixtures commitment and squad size! It's very likely with Roma he will be an automatic starter which was not by any means the case with Inter.

Ed and Tommaso are moderately pleased about our signing Adriano. Steve on the other hand is quite excited about the idea. It would appear to almost be a done deal, subject to a final wage agreement. Roma offers €2.5mil and he asks for €4mil. That softcock Pradè hopes they can compromise on or around 3mil. I have to say I too consider signing Adriano as an opportunity rather than a risk and I think he will score some goals for us though I doubt we will see the return of l'imperatore! That said, I'm more optimistic about our having Adri than I ever was over Big Luca who it seems, may go to Napoli.

Those who don't think Adriano is worth taking a chance on might consider at least we can see he has had recent success back home in Brasil. I don't even remember when Simplicio last kicked a competetive ball for Palermo yet there's those who would warmly welcome him to our club if the deal is finalised. Now he is a risk if I ever saw one, if such a thing can be said of a free transfer!

What really got my attention today in the usual Roma websites is seeing Ranieri laying his terms in front of Rosella. If she wants him to extend his contract she has to buy him five new players...and the Benayoun name resurfaces yet again as does that of Fred if the Adriano business fails.

Gio, of the names you mention, Okaka, Guberti, Rosi, Curci, Virga, D'Alessandro, Marsili and Crescenzi, I've never seen Marsili and Virga play. Crescenzi and D'Alessandro I have seen playing for our Azzurrini, or I should say, the U-20 version last year in Egypt and both impressed me! I wish we were getting closer to a more Italian Roma than drifting further from one but when we see the names being paraded around as transfer targets it looks like our Roma is slowly starting to suffer the same fate as others.

Carol, for the sake of the lord, Simplicio has been frozen out at Palermo because he refused to sign an extension. That he's played at all over the past six months has been entirely down to an essential reliance Palermo have on him when push comes to shove. The fact that he's not played is completely irrelevant to his quality as a player. My problem with Simplicio is simply that I like Brighi and I imagine his arrival will herald Matteo's departure. You have a very weird take on the whole situation, though.

Professore, I too would much rather have Brighi than Simplicio. I know very well he wouldn't extend with Palermo but don't tell me they couldn't have used him on the pitch, given their stuttering form over the past months. Then again given his stuttering form...

He's too much the Amantino Mancini for my liking. When you need a big performance from him he fails you!

Re - Adriano, I think I used to be against the move, given the whole mentality thing, but in the end, the guy is supremely talented, has Serie A experience and I believe is only 28 or so. He's the kind of risk we have to take (partying, not practising) since we are perennial bargain basement hunters.

While his form in Brasil has picked up, he has also missed training sessions recently...

So whats this nonsense of De Rossi saying "if Roma accepted an offer for me for whatever reason then I would accept it"? These annoying fekkkkin rumours of Daniele leaving are building more and more, and if Real or anyone else does make an offer, he's saying he would leave, if it were accepted. He would be the 'ultimate sacrifice'. But it couldn't happen, Rosella and co. could never accept an offer, no matter how large, and if they did, then Rome would burn.
