These guys at RA forum are making me sick, many of them are in favor for selling De Rossi for 25mil + Benzema, i know it's tempting, but i'd never accept it, and i don't think that Roma will accept it anyway, esp. Bruno Conti and Claudio Ranieri.

The transfer-rumour-mercato-silly-season can be annoying enough as it is, Edge, but when its all clustered together in the one place where you have everyone spouting what moves we should and should not make its just becomes a complete mindfuck altogether. Its best to avoid threads like that one on RA if its not your thing. I wonder who it was who first suggested that us selling De Rossi would be a good move? Jamie was here yesterday, but didn't post, I wonder if he knows?

Poor old Luca doesn't know what his future holds. It must be hard for him not being clear on where he'll be next season, I'm sure he probably hoped we would have a deal tied up for him to remain with us before he went on holidays but clearly thats not the case. The latest rumours of us being close to signing Adriano on a free doesn't bode well for him either.

TONI FACING UNCERTAIN FUTURE
Luca Toni does not know where his future lies as his loan spell at Roma comes to an end. The 32-year-old has spent the past six months on loan with the Giallorossi from Bayern Munich. A World Cup winner with Italy four years ago, Toni is a reported target of Napoli and West Ham.

Toni said: "I am on loan at Roma until June 30 and after that date, we shall see. I still have one year left in my contract with Bayern. At this time I don't know where my future will be, it's early. All I want now is to switch off and go on holiday."

Toni, who failed to make Marcello Lippi's squad for this summer's World Cup in South Africa, scored five goals in 14 appearances for Roma.

Roma: mercato low cost

I giallorossi sono a caccia di un affarone stile Toni. Da Adriano a Pavlyuchenko ecco dieci attaccanti da acquistare senza dover fare follie.


Tante idee, pochi soldi. Il mercato della Roma taglia subito le gambe ai sogni. Mentre Ranieri consiglia uno tra Gilardino e Pazzini, i tifosi invocano Luis Fabiano e Maxi Lopez, la società lavora su altri fronti. Salutato Toni che se ne torna sconsolato al Bayern, serve un altro attaccante con le sue caratteristiche. Tecniche ed economiche. Un affare low-cost insomma: stipendio non esagerato e, possibilmente, in prestito gratuito o in scadenza di contratto. Se fosse un giovane sarebbe ancora meglio. In Italia e in Europa le situazioni intriganti non mancano. Partendo dai confini nazionali e scartando Maccarone che si propone tramite il suo agente, la Juventus offre Trezeguet e Amauri. Il primo si è lasciato male con Ranieri, il secondo non può arrivare gratis ma attraverso uno scambio. A Torino se ne sta parlando, hai visto mai? Con il Milan si può intavolare un discorso per Huntelaar che vuole partire dopo essersi immalinconito a Milanello. Guardando all'estero un nome che da mesi imperversa nei discorsi di Trigoria è Adriano.

La scommessa piace al ds Pradè e a Ranieri. Il talento del brasiliano non si discute, ma il suo stato fisico e l'aspetto comportamentale lasciano tanti dubbi. E allora può tornare di moda un altro attaccante che ha sfiorato i cancelli del Bernardini: Pavlyuchenko. Il Tottenham lo offriva in prestito, ora non più anche se deve cederlo. Un po' la stessa situazione dello «spilungone» serbo Zigic: il Valencia lo darebbe via volentieri e alla Roma il giocatore non dispiace. Altre piste praticabili: Govou, che di mestiere fa l'attaccante esterno, è in scadenza con il Lione, lo vuole il West Ham ma di lui si è parlato spesso anche Trigoria, Santa Cruz è il primo tra i cedibili nel ricco parco attaccanti del Manchester City, Saha, vecchio pallino di Pradè, si può prendere dall'Everton senza spese folli. La Roma si è informata anche su Fred, passato dal Lione alla Fluminense e seguito con interesse in passato.

Poi ci sono le scommesse. Una improbabile ma suggestiva è Mutu. Squalificato fino a ottobre per doping, arriverebbe a Roma con due anni di ritardo. Ranieri lo ha già avuto al Chelsea e non direbbe «no» a priori se la Roma glielo proponesse. Il romeno ha un solo anno di contratto con la Fiorentina e si può liberare a un prezzo ragionevole. L'altro azzardo sarebbe l'ingaggio di Henry, sicuro partente dal Barcellona dopo l'arrivo di Villa. Sta pensando a un'esperienza nella Major League americana, ma un'ultima esperienza in Europa lo intrigherebbe. Il problema per la Roma sarebbe l'ingaggio. Un problema che non si sarebbe per Giuseppe Rossi, italiano all'estero. «Il suo ciclo al Villarreal è concluso, in Italia piace e la Roma è un grande club» ha detto il procuratore Pastorello. Ieri è stato offerto il brasiliano Costa del Valladolid ma non interessa.

A Trigoria non si pensa solo agli attaccanti. Preso Simplicio, sistemati i rinnovi di Julio Sergio e Cassetti e in dirittura d'arrivo quello di Taddei, l'acquisto di Burdisso sarà il prossimo passo. Poi dovrebbero arrivare subito un paio di esterni. Nomi? Piace Caceres per la fascia destra e se la Juve non lo riscatta si può sperare in un nuovo prestito del Barcellona. Occhio a anche a De Ceglie. Dal Genoa può arrivare uno tra Mesto e Moretti, sempre d'attualità gli obiettivi in Inghilterra: Benayoun ed Ebouè. Ma non costano poco. Andreolli verrà rimpiazzato dal fratello di Burdisso («presto incontrerà la Roma» ha detto il suo manager D'Andrea), se parte Mexes c'è pronta la soluzione Santacroce. E i portieri? Doni va via, il secondo sarà Lobont che dovrebbe essere riscattato. Difficile lo scambio Sorrentino-Curci.

Strictly speaking, Adriano would probably be a very good pick-up for this team - because of our financial constraints we have to take a gamble here and there (pace the Avvocato, bringing Luca in on the back of his troubles at Bayern was also a gamble of sorts). We could never pick up a disciplined Adriano-quality player in his pomp (Torres, let's say, or Eto'o, Dzeko, whatever); taking a gamble on him might well be a good call given our resources, though. I just think it's impossible for us to have any informed sense of the degree of the gamble - as you say, thredzo, "it depends on what sort of mind-frame" he's in and how are we to know that. Juan's comments earlier this week were good to see - Juan, presumably, is in a better position to know these sorts of things. It's hard not to get a little bit excited at the prospect - and hard not to feel rather sick in the gut at the same time.

I think Iaquinta's an under-rated player, Deini - he's got a little bit of everything: he works hard, his finishing isn't terrible, he's big enough to carry a threat in the air and to hold the ball up reasonable well, he's got enough pace and energy to carry a threat in behind. He's the sort of player who makes his team-mates look better because of the sorts of work he does and the options he creates for others on the ball. Which is not to say that I like the Mexes-Yakhunter swap idea in the slightest; it's just that I think he's a pretty solid player.

Iaquinta is a solid, all-round centre-forward alright, Tom, but I don't know if he's exactly what this team needs right now or if he is any major improvement over our other options, such as keeping Toni, recalling Okaka or signing Adriano. He hasn't exactly had the best of seasons for Juventus, and he's been terrible in the last few games I've seen him play, so I don't know. Plus, he's certainly not worth giving up Mexes for.

Its all rather depressing, though. Whatever happened with that meeting Ranieri was supposedly meant to have with Rosella over the future of this team? Nothing? Does Ranieri even know whats going to happen? He has requested a proper centre-forward, a Gilardino or a Pazzini, but our management is scrounging around for the cheap option. Adriano for free or Iaquinta in exchange. Just for once it would be nice to know exactly what sort of condition we are in going into the mercato silly season and if we do have any money to spend. We have already made money by qualifying for the CL and for our second-place league finish but it does not appear to be enough. I don't think we need a major overhaul, just two or three players of good quality who could really improve this team. Thats why I'd like to see us being in a position to spend some money on a proper striker, say Dzeko or Cardozo. But it won't happen. Its going to be the same old shite so why even bother.

Adriano, for all his faults, does remain a good striker, but its his attitude and off-the-pitch activities which are in question. Is he the best option for us at this point in time? Who knows. At least it looks like he's lost some weight (the first pic being when he first joined Flamengo, the second from the beginning of this season, I think). But he has been off the radar, so to speak, in Brazil, so its hard to know just how his head is these days.

Former Inter striker Adriano will move to Roma this summer according to transfer market expert Jose Alberti.

The South American agent is certain the Brazilian will play for the Giallorossi next season, just over a year after turning his back on life in Italy to return to his homeland with Flamengo.
