I think some of you should take my lead and go to the lazie offside blog and hand their asses to them. It is absolutely incredible to me that their very existence evolves around Roma. Amazing that the inferiorty complex is so contagious. Out of curiosity, I paid a visit over there and I just could not help myself from making a post.

Hmm, looking back on that about Ranieri wanting Eboue, Benayoun and Sculli, I think that is just more speculation at this point and he may not want those exact players per se. He was more saying he wants players for these roles, i.e., a right-sided player, a midfielder and a wing-forward. Hopefully that is the case anyway, but it will be interesting to see how his meeting goes with Rosella later in the week (if, indeed, it does happen at all – she will probably turn off her phone and jet off on holidays, only to return the day before the mercato closes).

What the? 15m plus Burdisso for Juan? Inter can go stick that offer where the sun don't shine. Thank god Julio Sergio is renewing. Also no takers for Baptista only in Greece and Turkey and he don't want to go there. Maybe Spain but no offers in yet. Maybe I should take a break from this summer mercato and just tune in this August to see what kind of team we will field.

Gio, others have responded to different points you made in reply to my post on Sunday so there is no need for me to merely echo their opinions. However, the most poignant of all of your observations was to me, this one: "This is Roma, and apparently God has ruled out all miracles for Rome because dominating the world for 1500(depending on how you count) years was good enough."

I've often wondered just how God in his wisdom views we Romani. His son entered this world to save mankind. Our ancestors, albeit to appease public opinion in the Israel of that time, saw fit to crucify him. The Catholic religion of which you and I are both a part is centered in the city of Roma almost as being some form of poetic justice for the actions of the ancient Romans...if we are inclined to give any credence to that particular line of thought.

But modern day Roma is a different matter, as is our favoured football club, and we all know exactly what is required to change our fortunes. Ranieri in the meantime has to somehow continue to keep us within the top four to maintain the interest of future prospective buyers yet not go so far in terms of success as to make that idiot in charge think all is well...


On this summer's transfers...much as the suggestion by Bagg that D'Agostino is somehow brought back appeals to me, I can't see it happening.

Deini, I'm in agreement with Ed in thinking the Juan story is just that! But still, we'd better hope that clown in panties isn't starting to think along the lines of letting Juan go. However, it would keep all the Mexes fans happy as he would then need to be kept to partner Burdisso. Andreolli would also have to be kept as back up under those circumstances.

Ed, you know, it wouldn't surprise me if Rosella really does try to sling our coach a rubber ear on spending money. But he is not so easily pushed aside as Spalletti was and though the good side of that is obvious, the tragedy for us and Roma is, if he thinks she is just taking the piss he won't think twice about leaving after one more season. I think he will/won't extend his contract until he sees concrete evidence of exactly what funds are to be made available to him.

Fahad, Isn't it the case we are hoping to use our half of Motta as leverage with Udinese over Candreva?

...and guys, I wouldn't be too critical of Tommaso as regards his internet. You have to live in the UK to see first hand just what British Telecom are and aren't capable of! It's entirely possible he doesn't have a cable communications alternative in his street.

All good points, Carlo, but I think its important to remember that Tommaso doesn't live on a 'street', its more of a dirt-track in a shed beside a ditch and lots of wilderness. In fact I think his broadband consists of a tin box with a wire aerial which probably blew over in a strong wind.
