As for the cricket, the Kiwi lads were clearly tired after their efforts in the IPL - where the real T20 stuff is played. I mean, you only have to see England in the semis to know this is a mickeymouse tournament. Arsenal? Gesu'. That game nearly killed me. Tommaso, I seem to recall on more than one occasion over the past weeks Ranieri has, let's say, led us to believe he would do one thing and has then done another. It's not just that he is less predictable than Spalletti though that is most certainly true.

Although there is little chance of Siena causing "The Big Upset" at the week end against Inter, the drama of the situation appeals to me and I really am not bothered about the way we go about beating those assini volante, just that we do!

Tommaso, stick your snort back in your pocket for a moment and consider I may just have more chance than you of seeing Ranieri on tv saying even just a few words on an every other day basis. Since the Atalanta match he has been evasive on a few occasions, smiling and leading us into drawing our own conclusions, for example the derby, the Parma match, even La Coppa. Note again I am saying not that he misled us but that he is an accomplished figura pubblica when it comes to speaking.

That aside I don't dispute the internet sources find him hard to read as regards his team selection, and I a long time ago learned to never take journalists' writings beyond being a simple guideline.

As for the down side of il calcio in these unfortunate times when what has always happened has finally been brought to the point where it can be no longer be just ignored... I've always had the belief that Italy runs its football as it does its way of life and on that basis you either accept that from a culture as old which dates back to Biblical times and has changed only in terms of adjusting to modern technology, you have to either be part of it or take nothing more to do with it and I prefer the former option.

But professore, I must adjourn for the moment, not because I can't respond, but because I have this unreasonable demand being made on me involving work and the need to earn a living.

La Roma torna a Riscone, in val Pusteria, per il suo ritiro estivo, in programma dal 9 al 22 luglio. Lo annuncia l'ufficio turistico di Brunico. La squadra alloggerà all'Hotel Royal Hinterhuber. Sono previsti due allenamenti giornalieri dalle 10 alle 12.30 e dalle 16.30 alle 19. A Riscone la Roma disputerà anche due amichevoli ancora da fissare.

Preseason training camp will once again be in Brunico in early July, with a couple of friendlies to be organised, opposition for which have to be found.

Roma Defender Philippe Mexes Still Believes In Scudetto Victory

Roma defender Philippe Mexes has explained his tears following Roma's 2-1 loss to Sampdoria a few weeks ago, but reveals he has not lost faith in a Scudetto triumph. The Giallorossi were defeated 2-1 at the Stadio Olimpico, courtesy of two goals from Giampaolo Pazzini, and relinquished the lead in the Serie A race to rivals Inter.

"They were tears of anger, not sadness [against Sampdoria]. At that moment many things came to my mind," the former Auxerre player was quoted as saying by Il Corriere dello Sport.

"If we had won that day then we would be first in the standings. On Sunday, we'll try to make amends."

Nonetheless, Mexes is confident his side have a valid shot at the 2009-10 title.

"We will fight until the end following our dream. I hope my tears from Roma - Sampdoria turn into a smile after Sunday. We must win, even if everything doesn't depend on us," he concluded.

Latest reports say that Pizarro has recovered enough from his injury and will start tomorrow, and so will Totti. Those two, along with Cassetti trained separately from the rest of the squad and all look fit enough to start. Baptista was the only person not to train. So it looks like it will be Totti, Vucinic and Menez upfront, with Pizarro alongside DDR and Perrotta in the middle.

Can't believe its the last game of the season tomorrow already. And whats even harder to believe is that we're still in with a chance to win the thing. Ha, yeah, some chance. But you never know in calcio. I can see our PR department behind this one! Or maybe that's my cynical nature kicking in again in the aftermath of that schifoso Mourinho poking fun at Ranieri and making some none too flattering comments on Italian football. As far as I'm concerned, if the Real Madrid rumours are true then he can eff off out of Italia just as quickly as he likes.

I too will be watching! Fuck it the lads have really done us Romanisti proud this season considering when we first play Inter we were 14 points behind them and here we are with a chance for the Scudetto!

Carlo I agree about Mourinho. The only reason he doesn't like Italia is the press doesn't suck his dick like the English press did. He needs to feel loved to feed his ego. Good riddance if he does go! I can't wait for tomorrow whatever happens!
