While Manchester City prepare a £6.5m swoop for Patrick Vieira, Inter Coach Roberto Mancini slams Sepp Blatter’s proposal to limit foreign players.

Today’s ‘News of the World’ claims that Sven Goran Eriksson is ready to end Vieira’s nightmare stint at San Siro and bring him back to England.

The former Arsenal midfielder has played just 68 minutes of competitive football for Inter this season – in the Italian Super Cup defeat to Roma in August – after suffering a series of injury setbacks and the club is losing patience.

Last season he managed only 28 games between Serie A, the Champions League and Coppa Italia and has not featured in the top flight since the 4-3 win over Lazio on May 13.

Meanwhile, Mancini reacted angrily to FIFA President Blatter’s proposal to limit the number of foreign players in a starting XI to five from 2010.

I Wanted Totti At Inter, Reveals Moratti

The Inter President admitted that the Roma player was close to an Inter move, but Sensi had stopped the transfer from happening.

Massimo Moratti told the Corriere dello Sport that Francesco Totti could have been an Inter player if Franco Sensi had not halted the negotiation between the player and the Nerazzurri.

"Totti has become an exceptional attacker," declared the President of the Nerazzurri, "But Sensi had told me no. Roma is the strongest rival, but I will hang on to Ibrahimovic."

Moratti is very satisfied with the start of the season of Inter, indicating the win at Rome as the decisive one so far.

"I did not think that Inter would be so strong already," he admitted. "We have not run away, but we have launched a good signal to all the competition.

"The win against Roma is surely the most important stage of this early part of the season," he said.

No, it wasn't a rugby match. It was a Pulcini A championship fixture.

On target against Pergocrema were Bonazzoli (8), Ligotti (6), Di Marco (5), Acquistapace (3), Carriero (3), Lozza (2), Brambilla (2), Leontini, Piantanida, Salaroli, Formato, Cassani, Kouame, Pavesi, Carini, Losa, Scienza and Oppici.

Inter's Under-11s won the title last season with a maximum 66 points, scoring an incredible 292 goals and conceding just 30.

Their successors have made an even better start to the 2007/08 campaign, with 104 goals in just four matches.

Suazo: The Goals Will Arrive

David Suazo is remaining calm despite failing to score for new club Inter this season and says the goals will soon arrive.

The Honduran international joined the Nerazzurri in the summer from Cagliari and much was expected from the pacy striker after an excellent pre-season.

However the 27-year-old has still failed to open his competitive account for the club and in recent matches he has been used only as a substitute.

His early season form at San Siro is in stark contrast to his time at Cagliari where Suazo developed into one of the most-feared strikers in Serie A.

"I am working hard in training and I am always ready when the Coach decides to pick me," said Suazo. "I have not scored yet but the goals will soon arrive.

"I am not worried, Inter are playing very well and with continuity. These recent victories have given us the serenity to continue performing well in the championship."

The Nerazzurri are currently three points clear at the top of the Serie A standings with five wins and two draws from their seven games. Their next match after the international break is away at Reggina on the weekend of October 20/21.

Non passa mai di moda il nome di Simone Barone (al momento infortunato) che tanto piace a Roberto Mancini. Al tecnico nerazzurro Barone interessa sempre e non è da escludere un suo passaggio in nerazzurro dopo l'eventuale cessione di Dacourt, che piace tanto al Lione.

Thats good news that we're still monitoring him, briz. I mean seriously this guy can easily be transformed into an AM and with Mancini reverting to the 4-4-2 for the Serie A and even CL, he'd be amazing on the RW. Also, imagine him instead of Figo or Cesar (no offence to these 2 who have been amazing) supporting Ibrahimovic in that 4-3-3 formation, even though we don't use it often.

Porto would be kidding themselves if they think they can get anywhere near 40 mil for Quaresma. He's good, but 40 mil? Thats how much Ibra would cost right now considering we bought him for 25 last season. Eventually, Quaresma will force Porto's hand because he won't want to play in Portugal all his life and every other big club can easily offer him 3x what Porto does. Man U wouldn't be a competitor considering how many wingers they do have and Giggs playing on for one more season. I think Chelsea and Arsenal would be the front runners with us; Since Wenger hasn't really spent much over the past few seasons, apparently he has a massive budget ready for him and Chelsea, well, who don't they want. Also Real Madrid could be there too.

I was sooooo pissed not to be able to see Nasri play vs Liverfekkin'wankscum in the CL last week cause he was out with the virus. I really want to watch some of his games. I also kind of regret not getting Ribery.. this guy is smoking them in Germany at the moment and that's not so easy to do anymore. But nothing we can do about that now.
