Mexes will probably play on Sunday, Chewna, though I'd like to see Motta get another run. He got done a couple of times defensively, but at least he played like a proper right back getting up and down and carrying a bit of a threat going forward. I hate seeing Burdisso in that role. I also think DDR is completely out of gas. It's been showing for a month or so, I think, but tonight it was so evident when Perrotta went in there alongside him. Simone seemed to cover twice the ground DDR did and was even the one presenting for the ball from the back four when DDR just looked weary - mentally and physically. He just needs a break - if he doesn't get one before the WC he's not going to shine there either, and if he doesn't who will for the Azzurri? I would start Brighi ahead of DDR on the weekend, regardless of who else is fit. Menez also has to start - preferably through the middle rather than down the wing. Vooch, Menez, and Pizarro need to be the first three on the team sheet this weekend and then the rest can be picked around that.

Yeah, I'd like to see DDR sit the next game out. He's hasn't been all that great in recent weeks, and he's no where near the form he was in two years ago. Menez should start ahead of Totti, who should also be on the bench. Vucinic on the left of Toni and Menez playing as an AM.

Any reason as to why Mexes will play Sunday? Is it to give Burdisso a rest?

Yes yes, Shield. I said that Balotelli isn't certainly the nicest person on earth. But whatevr one might say, does not justify such a reaction, especially for a professional of 34 years. That, it seems, we both agree.

It kills me to say it as well but I agree with your earlier post that Totti just isn't a good captain for this team anymore. Whatever Balotelli said doesn't matter Totti's actions were not acceptable at all, especially for someone who wears the armband and is supposed to be the leader on the pitch. There have been many times over the last couple of years where things were falling apart on the pitch and Totti didn't seem to provide any kind of leadership. He certainly can't if he is sent off.

Watching that sad display at the Olimpico last night was a waste of an evening. Let's just forget last night and look forward to the last two games. No matter what the Interisti or Laziale have to say about us, the way our season started 2nd place is quite an achievement and something to be proud of. Of course we still have a slight chance of pipping the Scudetto...It won't happen but if it does..
