Milan shortlist Leo replacements

Milan have drawn up a shortlist of three names capable of replacing Leonardo who is expected to leave San Siro at the end of the season. Leonardo has a strained relationship with Silvio Berlusconi and would like to return to Brazil to spend more time with his family and take up other coaching opportunities in South America.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Filippo Galli is still the favourite for the post, primarily because of his time in charge of Milan's youth sector. Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani wants to see more young players coming through and feels that Galli would deliver on that promise.

Serie A Coach of the Year Massimiliano Allegri is also being touted for the job after being sacked by Cagliari for becoming 'distracted'. Allegri 's enthusiasm and good football makes him a candidate for every top job in Italy, but La Gazzetta understands that not all Milan's directors like his style.

The final name for consideration is that of Marco van Basten, the legendary former Milan striker, who is looking for a new challenge after resigning from Ajax this time last year. It's no secret that Berlusconi dreams of seeing van Basten on the bench and La Gazzetta understands that Milan have put some feelers out to the 45-year-old Dutch master.
