Inter Chief Massimo Moratti Thinks Milan Are Behind Mario Balotelli’s Antics

But the magnate believes there is still room for reconciliation…

Massimo Moratti claims that teenage striker Mario Balotelli is growing apart from Inter because of the overtures of city rivals Milan.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper after Balotelli’s antics at the end of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Barcelona, the Nerazzurri president said: “Well, it is difficult to patch things up now. It’s not impossible, but he will have to pay for something…

Not nervous, Lomba; a bit disappointed, I suppose, my post didn't prompt a more thoughtful reply or two. Not, of course, that I'd expect such things from briz. Did you not think Inter played pretty much exactly as you'd expected them to play against Barca and very similarly to the way Chelski played them last season?

Maro, I think we Interisti are still not over the fact that our team can disappoint so badly in Europe as it has been happening the past 4-5 years. So, our expectations are always low and it was the same against Chelsea and Barca. I am sure everyone here would have been perfectly happy we would have gotten away with a 0-0 result at home. That's the reason a 3-1 result looked extraordinary and everyone is overjoyed. Anyway, we still have to go to Camp Nou and get a favorable result.

And we are so surprised that Inter are in the semifinals of the CL that we really don't care how we got there. If it means playing a football with no identity so be it.

Balotelli requests transfer

Inter's precocious young striker Mario Balotelli has requested a transfer after Tuesday's Champions League semi-final against Barcelona.

The 19-year-old is upset that a section of Inter fans surrounded and threatened him as he made his way to his car on Tuesday night.

Earlier that evening, Balotelli was angry that he didn't start against Barca and it showed when he came on as a substitute with 15 minutes remaining.

The Italy Under-21 international was booed after he mishit a shot and reacted badly, gesturing at the fans before ripping off his shirt and throwing it to the ground at the final whistle.

Marco Materazzi, Lucio, Diego Milito and Cristian Chivu waited in the tunnel to give him a furious dressing down and football boots were reportedly thrown in anger.

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands that later that evening Balotelli's agent Mino Raiola rang Inter's director of sport Marco Branca to insist that his client be protected.

His entourage were also quick to bring up the fact that they didn't like the way Balotelli was treated earlier this spring when he was dropped from six consecutive match squads.
