Mourinho baffled by Totti's fine

Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho has expressed his disbelief that Roma captain Francesco Totti escaped severe punishment for the provocative gestures he made at fans of relegation-threatened Lazio on Sunday.

Totti repeatedly goaded Biancoceleste supporters after Roma's 2-1 win in the Eternal City derby but was only fined ¬20,000 by the Italian football league and did not receive a suspension.

"I got a three-week ban for my handcuffs gesture and the one who has done thumbs-down gestures gets just a fine," Mourinho said after Inter's 3-1 triumph over Barcelona in the Champions League. "It's incredible, it's better to talk about the Champions League."

Earlier this year, Mourinho was hit with a ¬40,000 fine and given a three-match ban in Serie A for a handcuffs gesture during a goalless draw against Sampdoria. Lazio duo Mauro Zarate and Roberto Baronio were fined ¬8,000 and ¬5,000 respectively for their behaviour at the end of the derby.

Roma lead the Serie A standings by one point from Inter with four games remaining. They host Sampdoria on Sunday while Inter take on Atalanta at the San Siro 24 hours earlier. Lazio, meanwhile, visit Genoa this weekend holding a three-point advantage over the drop zone.

Wow. I'm sure Edzo blew one in his pants when he read that article. Luca Di Bartolomei eh. Unfortuately for Luca, he was too young to see his father in his prime at Roma. All he has is video of Ago. I suspect if that fuck hole Dino Viola and his Sweedish messenger boy Liedholm would not have discarded a legend like an anchovie to a hungry cat, Luca would have been able to see Ago play. But that is history.
