Former referee designator Paolo Bergamo has said meeting Serie A club presidents was a regular occurence as he clarifies his position in relation to the on-going Calciopoli trial in Naples.

New evidence at the court alleged Bergamo had been in regular contact with Inter president Massimo Moratti during the 2005/06 season. And, during their meetings and phone calls, they are alleged to have spoken about referee matters.

But, Bergamo suggests it was normal to speak with club chiefs over football-related issues.

He told Radio Radio: "Having contacts with clubs at the time was standard procedure.

"If someone went beyond normal talks then I cannot be responsible for this.

"I went to dinner with everyone, even with Moratti and the [FIGC] federation's phone number was available to all.

"The causes of Calciopoli clearly lie elsewhere."

Since he had dinner with "everyone", maybe we should relegate everyone in Serie A leaving it with no teams and have a 40 team Serie B. I'm still yet to read any single piece of conversation that shows Inter had designation over what refs were picked for each game like Moggi did.

What do you guys think is actually happening here? Do you think Juventus is just trying to ride the wave off of Moggi's trial to distract from what's currently happening on-field? The club wanted to wash its hands clean from the triad and now all of a sudden they're up Moggi's ass? Look at the media go as well; absolutely licking their lips over this so called "evidence".

One thing is for sure Dejan. One must separate completely today’s Juventus, with what is coming out today. Moggi would rather shoot himself than give a helping hand to today’s Juve. The media is another thing. In fact till now, there are far worse conversations coming from the Milan camp than from ours, yet it seems like it’s all about us.
You know a funny thing I just recently learned? We all know how the Juventini (and everyone else) have always had it against us for accepting that famous 2006 Scudetto and because it was our ex-dependant Guido Rossi that assigned it to us because he was an Interista…Well I got to know that UEFA had imposed the FIGC to have a definite final table and award the title to the first team as otherwise it was impossible for Italian teams to participate in European competitions the year after. Hence Milan would have never won the CL without us accepting that Scudetto. So much for criticizing, I suppose..

As much as I'd love to have Inter punished for something (anything), it's clear this is mega bullshit. That anyone would want to take the stuff that's come out as illegitimate dealings proves how retarded they are. This thing about a major phone convo coming out on the 13th is just Moggi trying to bluff Moratti out, hoping they spill some kind of beans that are actually not there. Gianluca Pagliuca: If Inter Defeat Fiorentina They Will Win The Scudetto

The 1994 and 1998 World Cup participant believes the Beneamata will pick up yet another Serie A title...

Former Inter and Italy goalkeeper Gianluca Pagliuca has backed his former side to win the Scudetto, provided they defeat Fiorentina on Saturday evening at the Artemio Franchi.

"My prediction is two-fold, Inter are a very solid, strong team," he told radio program RomaCaffe.

"In my opinion, this is a crossroads of the championship. If Inter should get a good result tomorrow, the league is virtually in their hands.

"If they make mistakes, however, then Roma have a great chance, because apart from the derby [against Lazio] all their remaining fixtures are more than winnable."

Meanwhile, the 43-year-old also evaluated Nerazzurri boss Jose Mourinho's effect on the team.

"Everyone says he is just a good communicator, but I think he is an especially good coach," he continued.

"You can see how Inter have done and they play with great security in their home matches."

Fiorentina 2-2 Inter

Inter could lose the leadership this weekend after a heart-stopping 2-2 draw away to Fiorentina with Keirrison, Diego Milito, Samuel Eto'o and Per Kroldrup on target.

The Nerazzurri swept through to the Champions League semi-finals, but were only one point clear of Roma and needed a strong result. The Viola also wanted points to get back into the race for a Europa League spot and had 10 from the last five rounds. Juan Manuel Vargas, Alessandro Gamberini and Adrian Mutu were unavailable, while Thiago Motta, Davide Santon and ex-Fiorentina goalkeeper Francesco Toldo didn't make the trip.

Surprisingly, Alberto Gilardino was rested ahead of the Coppa Italia clash between these sides on Tuesday. Inter lost Dejan Stankovic to a muscular problem in the warm-up, so Javier Zanetti moved up to midfield with Cristian Chivu at left-back.

Fiorentina had just one point from the last three editions of this fixture, winning 2-1 in February 2006.

After 120 seconds Sebastien Frey was at full stretch to palm a Wesley Sneijder snapshot round the far post. From the corner the ball was knocked on by Walter Samuel to Diego Milito at the back post, whose diving header thumped the woodwork from a couple of yards.

Frey had his gloves stung by a Samuel Eto'o strike, but it was Fiorentina who took the lead with a wonderfully well-worked move.

The Tuscans went on the counter with Riccardo Montolivo's slide-rule pass that Gianluca Comotto flicked back across for the unmarked Keirrison to fire under the bar from eight yards. Inter wanted the offside flag, but replays show he was behind the line of the ball.

Stevan Jovetic exchanged one-touch passes with Mario Alberto Santana and was pulling the trigger when Samuel came sliding in to force a corner. Moments later he combined with Keirrison and this time Lucio had to stick a foot in to block the shot.

Sneijder smashed a long-range screamer just wide. Milito's cross on the counter found Maicon totally unmarked, but he horribly scuffed the volley. At full stretch Goran Pandev was unable to get the final touch to a cross from six yards.

Julio Cesar performed a stunning reaction save on Santana's header from point-blank range, but it wouldn't have counted anyway, as he was marginally offside. Maicon took an eternity to clear inside his own box, but Comotto was unable to make the most of it with a weak finish.

Chivu was booked for a foul on Santana and will be suspended for next week's clash with Juventus. From that long Manuel Pasqual free kick, the ball ricocheted around to finally go clear after a series of headers.

Inter horribly wasted a counter when Pandev's through ball was too long for Milito. Moments later Samuel bravely stopped two Fiorentina players from going clear on goal after another Maicon hesitation.

Jose Mourinho introduced Mario Balotelli for the second half in place of Chivu, so Zanetti moved into left-back with Sneijder in a deeper role. There was immediately controversy, as Balotelli went down clutching his face to earn a free kick next to the corner flag when there appeared to be absolute minimal contact with the defender.

It was almost 2-0 for Fiorentina when Jovetic sprung the offside trap on a Montolivo through ball and his angled drive flashed across the face of goal to scrape a coat of paint off the far post.

Gilardino came off the bench for the final half-hour to replace scorer Keirrison. Santana's volley was so wayward that it looped up and turned into an assist for Gilardino at the back post, forcing Julio Cesar into a tricky save.

Milito nodded Maicon's cross over the bar. There was panic in the Inter back line when Fiorentina broke from their own box with Lorenzo De Silvestri and only Zanetti was there to defend. However, the cross for Jovetic was too long and then Julio Cesar survived fumbling the ball.

Inter equalised with a well-worked move. Sneijder's through ball released Maicon down the right for an immediate low cross to Milito from six yards. Fiorentina defenders managed to scuff the ball, but could not prevent El Principe from tapping in.

Moments later Milito sprung the offside trap down the left channel from a ball over the top, but he thumped the side-netting with only Frey to beat.

Both teams were furious when Mario Bolatti prodded the ball off Eto'o's foot just outside the box. The Viola claimed it wasn't a foul at all, while the Nerazzurri wanted more than just the yellow card he received. Sneijder's powerful free kick skimmed the crossbar.

Lucio gave the ball away in the final third, but then got back in time to close down Bolatti's strike.

However, from that corner kick, Fiorentina conceded a classic counter-attack. Sneijder spread it down the right for Balotelli and the ball across the face of goal was perfect for Eto'o to volley in from six yards.

Within 60 seconds the game was back on level terms! A corner kick took a deflection and went straight to Per Kroldrup for the tap-in at the back post. Julio Cesar completely missed the ball and it was not an offside position, as two Inter defenders were keeping Kroldrup in play.
