Lomba, isn't it so easy to get caught up in 1990's calcio? When we were the toast of the World and so many people wanted to watch Serie A/gli Azzurri!

Tommy Brolin and Tino Asprilla, oh yes! My most vivid memory of watching Brolin was actually for Sweden when he missed what should have been a dead cert goal scoring chance that could well have put Brasil out of the World Cup. About Asprilla...as I remember, some said his form was too intermittent though when in the mood he was dynamite. I was really surprised that he would eventually go to Newcastle Utd as he did.

Ennio, I remember you having to explain that one to me back on XFF. Palermo replaced Parma as the seventh sister by that time which pleased Giuliano and Mr Aquile! I lost contact with Giuliano but I'm thinking he may be on http://football-chat.net/forums/index.php? though I can't be definite.

It's a strange thing that the Seven Sisters nickname never seemed to be mentioned in England which was why I didn't know about it. I remember well all the Italian successes during the 1990's and listed them in the Converszione Aperta thread in the Other Teams section. Look at the amount of all-Italian finals and all the runners up places our clubs took as well as the trophies they won! You mentioned Lazio and Parma and I, as you do, also remember the way Cirio folded which forced Cragnotti out of Lazio and the collapse of the Tanzi family régime with Parma following the Parmalat scandal.

Bagg, Switzerland? The side we have an entire history of taking mental blocks with when we play them, particularly in Switzerland! I've never quite been able to get accustomed to listening to Italian-Swiss tv commentators speak of la nostra nazionale in flawless Italian which is their everyday language. For some reason it always takes that extra split second to realise they mean Switzerland and not Italia!

MI, it will probably be the same guy. As for Giuliano(Pink Panther) it's possible he is still involved with Soc though if so it's taking an eternity to get the Mk2 XFF up and running. I know for a fact Soc made a few posts on XTT as his other old pal Capitan' Totti (I can't remember his current handle, Kaulitz Fanboy or something like that) is there. The www in soccer terms is not as big a place as some might like to think it is as regards keeping a low profile...

Alessandro Nesta will go under the knife on Monday and his season is effectively over, confirmed Milan.

The defender discovered a torn tendon in his right knee and the club had given itself 48 hours to decide whether he’d have surgery or go for a riskier operation-free treatment.

Lippi almost certain to leave Italy job

The FIGC are in the process of replacing Marcello Lippi as speculation increases that he will step down after the World Cup this summer. Speaking on GR Parlamento yesterday, Lippi was asked a question about his future, to which he replied: “Abete already knows what I will do after the World Cup. I have a relationship of great esteem and respect with him.â€
