The fallout from Milan's heavy loss to Manchester United in the Champions League continues to draw the headlines around Milanello, and the 4-0 defeat in midweek was the focus of Leonardo's press conference on Saturday.

The rookie coach looked to play down the disquiet within the club, with rumours suggesting that president Silvio Berlusconi switched off the game at half-time, but he is concerned about the co-efficient system as the Bundesliga threatens to steal a Champions League place from Serie A.

"The fans' affection was really nice. When it was 3-0 at Old Trafford they encouraged us, they understood the difficulty of the situation. At the aeroport, when we returned, it was a poignant moment when we still received their support," Leonardo told Milan Channel.

"I don't think [Berlusconi] was uninterested - he was completely on our side before the Roma game. I honestly don't see a problem.

"This thing about the rankings is starting to bother me - to think that one or two big Italian sides could be out of Europe's top competition is worrying, because in that case it would be even more difficult to recover points in the standings."

Leonardo then addressed Alessandro Nesta's current injury, the full extent of which will be revealed in the coming days, and he revealed that the first signs of trouble only came after their last Serie A match against Roma.

"This year 'Sandro' has often had trouble, but all manageable thanks to his great will. The alarm was never set off because he played well against Roma. We only began to understand the following day. Now we must fully evaluate his situation."

Having seen city-rivals Inter fall at the hands of Catania on Friday night, Leonardo is not getting carried away as Milan look to close the gap at the top of the table to one point against Chievo.

"We must be brave and focused game after game, with the players that we have at our disposal, looking to maintain the level of our play."

Flamini the player who can make all the difference today between a win and a draw.

Flamini's a lovely player, but he doesn't have the technical quality to carry enough of a threat getting box-to-box. You need him alongside Pirlo and Seedorf, doing their running for them, but with Ambrosini or Gattuso also in the midfield, you'll find Flamini getting into plenty of promising positions but too often not able to do much with the opportunities. Pirlo-Flamini-Beckham might also work in the absence of the Pimp.

he is the only player we have apart from Ambro who is really willing to run for 90 minutes, too many times this season we have been seen with a static ball watcher of a midfield. as you (i think) said last season we dont have any foward runners we have lots of players good on the ball but none that will run fowards into Space, Flamini does that well, and he is technically better than Rino.

I agree totally, SP. Leo just has to get the balance of the side right - so that Flamini's industry complements the players around him. If you go 4-3-3 (a formation I've never liked and continue to dislike more and more), then I think you're better off with Beckham or Seedonk rather than Ambro alongside Pirlo if Flamini is going to play. Personally, I think you should still be playing the 4-2-3-1, with Flamini alongside Pirlo at the base of the midfield triangle.

i wonder how Carlo's xmas tree formation would work, now i wont include Pato for two reasons first he is injured so wont play tonight anyway and secondly i still believe he works better as a striker not as a winger or Attacking midfielder and so will compete for the strikers place, he arguably will score more chances on average than Hunter or Borri have so far.

News about Krasic and I don't know how it has to be taken: it seems we made an offer that was accepted by CSKA this Winter but couldn't sign him because we already filled the 2 non-EU spots.

His price is around €15 million and if an offer was accepted, that means it looks like we're going to have a budget for our transfers this Summer yet again!

The guy said he wants to play for Real, and if he can't, his second favourite team is Milan.

Anyway, the end of the article is ambiguous: his agent confirmed our interest, but said no contract was signed. Does that mean that our 15M offer is still available ? Or does that just mean that our club asked again informations about the player?
