Inter open to Baggio return - Friday 26 February, 2010

Inter Vice-President Angelomario Moratti would welcome Roberto Baggio back to the club as a director.

Baggio only spent two years with the Nerazzurri in his glorious career, but has always remained attached to the club.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport at the launch of a new series of DVDs commemorating Baggio's career, Moratti said: “His greatest talent is that of having always been humble.

“The most beautiful memory I have of Roby was the match against Real Madrid in which he scored two goals, allowing us to win 3-1.

“He has remained very tied to Inter. We are honoured because he is an Italian symbol.

“We are always ready to welcome him back,” Moratti concluded.

Baggio has hinted at returning to the game in some capacity.

“I would like to work with the kids, to make them understand that this is a sport, but also a profession in which we need to put everything,” he told La Gazzetta.

“It would be a challenge to train a team. I like challenges. It all seems so simple from the sofa at home.”

Asked if he would consider coaching the Italian national team, Baggio replied: “I don't know. I wouldn't exclude it. Sure, I would like to do something different, something that isn't unimportant.”

La Sampdoria potrebbe far cancellare la squalifica di due turni inflitta dal Giudice Sportivo ad Esteban Cambiasso. E' l'importante risvolto del ricorso che verrà discusso quest'oggi al Consiglio Federale. La società di Corte Lambruschini, infatti, si sarebbe premurata di inviare una lettera ai giudici nella quale sosteneva che nel parapiglia dell'intevallo non fosse successo nulla di particolare ai danni dei propri tesserati. Nessun accenno di rissa, quindi, da parte del giocatore argentino, che è stato invece accusato da Tosel di aver provato ad aggredire Padalino.

Se tale circostanza venisse confermata, si potrebbe addirittura arrivare ad una cancellazione della sanzione per l'argentino, che potrebbe a quel punto tornare disponibile per la gara di domenica con l'Udinese, risolvendo così il problema del 'buco' nella difesa. C'è comunque da sottolineare il bel gesto da parte della Sampdoria, che in maniera estremamente leale e sportiva si prende carico di togliere al giocatore una sanzione a loro modo di vedere ingiusta.
