Luciano Moggi, the disgraced former Juventus general manager, would like to see Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger replace Ciro Ferrara.

The Bianconeri are said to be considering a change on the bench after Saturday's disappointing 2-1 defeat at home to Roma.

Juventus currently lie sixth in Serie A, four points adrift of the Champions League places.

Speaking to Studio Stadio, Moggi said: “The only foreigner that I see doing well at Juventus is Arsene Wenger of Arsenal, who we had in hand to replace Lippi in 2004, but then Capello freed himself from Roma and it all went like you know.

“Wenger would be the perfect manager with whom to start again. Even with these directors…

“Juventus are paying for their incapacity and the leadership at board level. You can see the players aren't going on to the pitch in a calm frame of mind and that they have lost self-esteem. They lack an authoritative point of reference in the club.

Juve want Palladino back

Juventus will meet with Genoa later this week to discuss the prospect of bringing Raffaele Palladino back to Turin.

The 25-year-old joined Genoa on loan from Juventus in 2008 before the two clubs agreed a part-ownership deal.

Juve are eager to give Ciro Ferrara as many options up front as possible and Palladino is a relatively cheap option.

The Bianconeri have been linked with a move for Manchester City's Brazilian fantasista Robinho, but even a loan deal would be outside of the club's current budget.

Tuttosport understands that Roberto Bettega and Alessio Secco are prepared to offer Genoa between €4m and €5m for Palladino plus the other 50 per cent of Domenico Criscito's contract.

Genoa are said to be reluctant to lose the Italy international especially after they sold Sergio Floccari to Lazio earlier this month.

Palladino is also believed to have reservations about returning to Turin where his place in the first team might not be assured.

This management never ceases to amaze me. I will believe even the most ridiculous things after what they have done the past 4 years. I mean, why not give away a promising young player who is ready to fill in a position we need for an above average player who doesn't really fit into our tactical plans?

'Gentile accepts Juve role'

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands Claudio Gentile has accepted an offer to replace Juventus Coach Ciro Ferrara after tonight's Coppa Italia match against Inter. The 56-year-old, who made 283 appearances for Juventus between 1973 and 1984, left his home in Como yesterday morning for a two-hour meeting with former team-mate Roberto Bettega in Turin.

They discussed technical and tactical aspects of the team as well as the club's current economic situation. Gentile's criticism of Juventus in recent months was also conveniently forgotten. Juventus apparently turned to Gentile when Giovanni Trapattoni, the Republic of Ireland manager, told John Elkann, the club's patron, that he wouldn't be able to return to Turin for a third stint in charge of the Bianconeri.

Trapattoni is said to have recommended Gentile and put them in touch with a phone call. Gentile faces competition from Alberto Zaccheroni, but La Gazzetta dello Sport understands Juventus have offered him €250,000 for four months work plus bonuses for success in the Europa League and qualification for the Champions League.

The World Cup winner is believed to have accepted the role and will find out later today if the board have agreed upon his appointment. Gentile has never coached a club side. His last job ended in 2006 with Italy's Under-21s. He likes to play 4-4-2 and is a bit of a drill sergeant, something Juventus's dressing room dearly needs at the moment.

The length of his prospective contract suggests Elkann wants to make a big name appointment in the summer with Rafa Benitez or Marcello Lippi at the top of the list.

'Blanc flies to meet Benitez'

Il Corriere dello Sport understands Juventus President Jean-Claude Blanc has flown to England for talks with Liverfekkin'wankscum manager Rafael Benitez.

The Spanish tactician is Juventus's first choice to replace Ciro Ferrara who is widely expected to move from his position as Head Coach to a role as a director after tonight's Coppa Italia Quarter-Final against Inter at San Siro.

Juventus are following two strategies in their search for a new trainer. The first involves Blanc persuading Benitez to leave Liverfekkin'wankscum immediately at the behest of John Elkann, the club's patron and grandson of Gianni Agnelli.

Il Corriere believes Blanc will try two lines of attack - first, reminding Benitez of Liverfekkin'wankscum's dire financial situation, and second, exploiting his tensions with the club's American owners, who once lined up Jurgen Klinsmann as his replacement.

The problem lies with Benitez's contract, which still has four years to run and pays him around €4m every season. Both Juventus and Liverfekkin'wankscum are in no position to pay that deal off.

And that is why Roberto Bettega, the club's vice-general manager, is pursuing a second strategy whereby Juventus will make a short-term appointment.

Claudio Gentile and Alberto Zaccheroni were reportedly interviewed yesterday and both said they were prepared to take the job for the next four months.

Bettega will give them an answer later today when he has heard whether Blanc has been successful in his attempt to lure Benitez.
