Roma Defender Marco Motta Set For Manchester City Switch - Report
The full-back will move to Eastlands until the end of the season.

Serie A sides Roma and Udinese are poised to transfer right-back Marco Motta to Premiershit outfit Manchester City on a six-month loan deal, according to Il Corriere dello Sport newspaper.

Citizens boss Roberto Mancini has pinpointed his compatriot to address his team’s defensive problems and the 23-year-old might travel to England as early as tomorrow.

Roma director of sport Daniele Prade has revealed that talks with City are at an advanced stage and it is claimed that the English club will also hammer out the final details of the deal with Udinese tomorrow as the Friulans co-own the player with the Lupi.

Motta had joined Roma on loan last January and the Giallorossi bought half of his sporting rights in the summer.

But the player is struggling for playing time under Claudio Ranieri this term and has allegedly agreed to a temporary switch to the Citizens.

I can't believe we're seriously considering letting Motta go. We're only half way through the season and with any luck Cassetti will break a leg or two and we're going to need back-up. Like who else can play right-back, besides Cassetti, Motta and Burdisso? There's no one else right? No one? Yep. Stupid move to even consider letting Marco go. And I thought we couldn't loan a player out who is on a co-ownership anyway?

If he's going to be behind Cassetti in the pecking order then I think we're better off letting him go and seeing what happens at 'Shitty. I wonder if there's something sneaky behind this - like it's going to be preceded by our buying out Motta outright with money slipped under the table to us by Shitty? The Avvocato, though, believes Motta is all ours anyway.
