Giving Okaka some regular playing time could be good for him alright. Although I would of prefer him staying in Italy being loaned out to a smaller club instead of going to the Premiershit. I don't know about loaning out Cerci, though, we need to be careful not to allow to many players to leave so we have good cover for later in the season. With Guberti and Okaka gone that is enough, me thinks. Ranieri wished them both well on their travels, saying on that at this stage in their careers they must play:

I've just discovered something rather curious, Triestina have (or in the latter case, had, it seemed) two young Irish players in their squad, a Conors Mc Cormack and Michael Collins. I can't find any info on the latter, so i assume he's gone, but Conors Mc Cormack is still there (I'm sure its meant to be spelt Conor). Apparantly he was part of Man Utd's youth set up and opted to join Triestina instead of staying on there, interesting story:

loll, Vuci missed two sitters, Cassetti gives away a dumbass rigore, Doni dives before the peno is even struck and the ball trickles down the middle, Doni is also our 'captain', and to top it all off, Menez is on the bench. We don't do things easy do we?

Lackluster performance in a lackluster game against lackluster opposition, with a lackluster crowd. What does lackluster even mean? We done enough to win, we we're never going to lose this one to be honest unless we displayed the mentality of five-year-olds, which we've been sometimes known to do. Cerci was a bright spark out there, he was playing to impress and playing like a man with a point to prove. Pity the likes of Baptista couldn't do the same – is he really a man fighting for a spot in the squad of the World Cup favourites? Fat chance, Fattista. Vucinic didn't give a feck but didn't need to, really, he had enough chances to score seven hattricks but in the end done alright. Motta was ok, as was Pit when he came on, but Triestina had absolutely nothing in attack to trouble anyone except keepers who can't stand still. Triestina were missing their Irish boys, clearly.

I thought the game lacked a little lustre. Will we ever see the best of Menez in a side in which Totti and the Pizza also play? Will we ever see the best of Cerci in a side with Luca through the middle?

Baptista to remain at Roma
Brazilian striker happy to fight for his place

Julio Baptista has quashed rumours he is looking to leave Roma in the January transfer window. The 28-year-old striker has only made one Serie A start this season and is reportedly a target for league leaders Inter Milan. But the Brazil international is under contract with Roma until June 2012 and insists he does not expect to leave the capital club this month.

"I am calm about my future," he told the club's official website. "I expect to remain here."

Baptista joined Roma from Real Madrid in the summer of 2008 and scored nine goals in 27 appearances last season to help the Giallorossi finish sixth in Serie A.

This term the former Sevilla and Arsenal striker has had to play second fiddle to Francesco Totti and Mirko Vucinic. The arrival of Luca Toni will provide more competition for places up front at the Stadio Olimpico but Baptista is determined to earn a recall.

"I am training hard in order to be ready when given the chance," he added.

Zamparini has dropped a strong hint that the Brazilian will join the Lupi on a free transfer next summer.



Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has admitted there is little hope of the club persuading star midfielder Fabio Simplicio to sign a contract extension.

Simplicio and Australian international Mark Bresciano will both be out of contract next summer and the former seems set to choose Roma as his next destination.

“We already dealt last year with the fact that two of our players were running out of contract by bringing in [Javier] Pastore and [Nicolas] Bertolo,â€
