MILAN - "Sorry if I haven't managed to thank everyone personally..." On his return to Milan, Cristian Chivu asked www.inter.it to thank all those who have sent him get well messages.

From the world of football to fans from all over the globe, everyone was close to the defender after the injury in the opening minutes of the second half against Chievo last Wednesday. An aerial clash with Sergio Pellissier left everyone with bated breath, but thanks to professor Franco Combi's quick intervention on the pitch and the work done by the doctors and staff at Verona's Borgo Trento hospital, everything was resolved in the best possible way. Cristian, who was discharged from hospital this morning will conclude his medical tests in a Milan hospital before continuing with a period of rest.

"It was so nice to receive messages from friends and team-mates, colleagues and managers, and coaches of Italian and foreign clubs. And also from the fans, of Inter, from Romania and Holland, and not only. I felt the affection of everybody and this made me feel good. And I can't deny that Inter's victory last night made me feel very good too. They were fantastic. Thanks also for this, and see you soon. Cristian."

Austrian to stay at Inter; Striker to stay put

Marko Arnautovic is set to stay with Inter Milan, his agent has confirmed.

Inter beat a host of clubs to land the highly-rated Austrian international forward in August last year, signing him on loan for the season, with a view to a permanent deal.

However, things have not gone well in the first-half of the season for Arnautovic as he did not feature in a single match.

He was linked with a quick return to Twente, but he made his debut earlier this week against Chievo Verona and followed that up with an appearance against Siena.

Now his agent believes his charge is ready to knuckle down and convince Inter coach Jose Mourinho that he is capable of performing in Serie A.

"They see Marko is taking it serious now," his agent Rob Groener told De Telegraaf.

"Marko still has to act as a professional more and more.

"He really has to show what he is capable and he showed that last Wednesday during his debut against Chievo Verona."

It seems that there was an interview with Stankovic yesterday in which he said that Kolarov will move to Inter imminently. He said that he is aware Inter want him immediately to cover for Chivu’s loss and if Inter wants someone, there is no stopping them. I guess he is also aware about Kolarov’s positive response to a transfer. Of course that part in which he says that when Inter want someone they get him, is a little bit of an exaggeration, especially when I think back on Lampard for example, but I guess he does know something, though I would have preferred him not to say anything considering that we have to deal with someone like Lotito…
Also the media is saying that Inter does not want to disrupt their relationship with Lazio by taking another player on free transfer from them, so they will most probably offer something for Ledesma.

Good news. So we could effectively end up signing 3 Lazio players in the one window.. who would have thought? With Ledesma, I'd give them Khrin and/or Obi as they'd get some playing time but certainly not Santon. For Kolarov, we'd probably be looking at 12 mil or a bit more. So apparently we're back on the market for Gerrard and this rumor seems to be growing quite a bit from several sources now and considering they're financial debt and possibly no CL football next season, it gives it some more credibility though, I'm still doubtful as to whether we could get him here and I think it would turn out like the Lampard saga which fucked us over.

Anybody heard Moggi's latest "amatuer" ramblings about Mou and Moratti? This could turn out to be some real quality stuff Mou decides to hit back.

Also, I'm kind of confused as to what's happening with Arna; wasn't he supposed to go back if he didn't get the minutes required so we could buy him outright? From what the agent is saying, he's staying put. Sounds to me as if we're extending the loan until the end of the season which could only mean Mou is starting to like what he's seeing from the kid, otherwise he would of left already.

Dejan - First of all I wouldnt believe getting gerrard is something possible. I wouldnt believe it unless I see him officially wearing an Inter jersey. IMO this is much more of a speculation than the lampard deal.

With regards to the Moggi ramblings, I guess we've become a little accustomed to his criticism. He is still trying to defend his accusations by putting Inter in the middle, and believes that all that happened 4 years ago was thanks to Moratti, so I would expect him to say such things. I sure hope Mou can give us a little something for him. That would be sweet.
With regards to Arna, the guy is on loan for a year, not till january. We wanted to let him go back a month ago, but now everything seems to have changed a little, therefore we'll keep him. This was the original agreement. I sure hope he gets his head straight.

Inter scout Benfica duo

Italian champions Inter have been scouting two players at Benfica - Ramires, the Brazilian utility man, and highly rated Argentinian winger Angel Di Maria.

Luis Suarez, the legendary former Inter inside left, is the club's most trusted scout of the Spanish and Portuguese markets, and according to Il Corriere dello Sport, he has flown back and forth to watch the pair at the Estadio da Luz.

Suarez reportedly watched Benfica's 1-0 defeat to Sporting Braga, their 1-0 victory over Porto and then returned again on Saturday to see the Eagles win 1-0 against Rio Ave.

Inter's chief technical director Marco Branca yesterday admitted that the Nerazzurri are monitoring the pair. Speaking to Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas, Branca said: “Di Maria and Ramires are two interesting elements and we will see what happens in June.â€

So there's currently no less than 9 Primavera players training with the first team due to all the injuries. It doesn't look like Cambiasso, Khrin or Muntari will be fit for the Bari game this week so we're in strife. I think the only option we've got is to play Cordoba at LB and partner Zanetti with Motta in midfield so we can go with the trident supported by Sneijder. Zanetti would probably play a lot deeper thank Stankovic but we're going to be slaughtered for pace on the counter as we were vs Siena. At least we've got Balotelli back and no need for Quaresma this game.

The only other possibility is if Zanetti plays at CDM and Stevanovic plays from the start in the diamond along with Motta and Sneijder but whatever we put out there, it's going to be scrappy. At least Almiron is suspended and Ranochia is sidelined with injury.

I'd probably go with the diamond in this game and risk Stevanovic from the start because we'll concede at least 3 again if we play Motta-Zanetti in midfield. Also, it would be a good reward for him to get a start after looking the part vs Siena.
